Chapter 4 - New Beginnings

[Kylie's pov]

I'm roughly being shook awake by my bestfriend while he whispers gently telling me to 'wake the fuck up angel'

Groaning I swat him away. "Go away I'm sleeping, and no I'm not going to help you egg and toilet paper Mason's house Jody!" I whine before getting ready to sleep some more.

But my statement earned a few chuckles, too tired to bother I try to go back to sleep. "Darling get your lazy ass up we've just reached your new town" my mother says.

Immediately I sit up rubbing my eyes, my elbow knocking Jody accidentally. "Mother fu- I mean trucker, that was painful Kylie" he whines back.

"Oops?" I say now realising my father's in the driver's seat and Jody now right next to me. Looking around at the buildings as we drive pass them I smile. It has a olden times vibe to it but a pinch of modernism too.

The people waltzing around look so close knit and happy. Everyone looks friendly and so cheery. I'm going to love it here.

The fact that this town is surrounded by miles and miles of forest makes it even that much more sweeter. I don't know the forest is always calling to me. I love the twilight feel this town has.

"So we got you this nice small cabin like home more to the edge of the town, we know how you love the forest" my dad smiles looking into the mirror.

I smile back nodding excitingly. We drive through town until we come to a long drive way surrounded by the forest. Coming up towards the cabin I start squealing like crazy.

It's absolutely beautiful and looks very cozy. Coming to a stop in front of the cabin we all quicky exit the car. My mother pulls out the keys of her handbag and then hands it over to me.

I hug her and papa quickly before taking it. I open the door and I'm met with a wide spacious living room, slash entertainment room. It's beautiful.

There's a dark furry mat covering the dark wooden floors and a fire place under a huge flst screen tv and a huge window outlooking the forest on one side of the wall. Moving to the kitchen, it has all the essentials and it's small but enough for one person. I love it.

My mother and I make our way to my bedroom and I smile in delight. In the middle of the room theres a king size bed and there's a walk in closet with mirror doors and a ensuite bathroom.

Which is larger than the one inside. And it has a huge bath and shower as well as a lovely sink. Mama and  I squeal.

After unpacking everything from my car. We decide to head into town to grab something to eat and meet mama and papa's friend who'll be watching over me while I'm here.

We find a small shop selling all kinds of salads and sandwiches we quickly order and then eat before making our way over to my parents long lost friend.

Coming to a Victorian styled home we climb out of the car and go to stand on the porch. My parents knock on the door. Not even a second later a man that looks no later than his late thirties answers the door. I look at my parents in confusion.

I thought they were highschool friends. This man doesn't look more than what 10 - 12  years older than me. "Jack!! You haven't aged one bit since the last time we saw you!" My father says giving each other a bro hug.

"Keep drinking your water and eating your vegetables" the man jokes looking at my mother and father before crushing them into a hug again.

"My wife Sarah has left to spend the day with her parents, I stayed behind to welcome my new neighbor" he says smiling before pulling me into a hug "look at you, all grown up. Your parents must be proud" he says smiling at me.

"We are" they say in unison. He then looks over to Jody who looks abit uncomfortable the man's eyes widen abit before bowing his head slightly. He then shakes out of his trance ushering us inside.

I look over to Jody questioningly. He just shrugs awkwardly before making his way into the house. Hmm. Something definitely fishy. If it was anything serious though Jody would've told me that I'm positive about.

After my parents catch up with their old friend and Jody comes back from a mysterious walk in the park we finally get ready to leave.

"Well guys I assure you that your daughter is in good hands. This is a lovely town. Everyone here is family and everyone looks out for everyone. And don't worry I'll keep an eye on her" he says smiling.

Something about him just makes me feel like I can trust him and I dont doubt what he says about the town.

After bidding their goodbyes we make our way back over to my cabin. My mom starts crying while my papa comforts her.

Jody hasn't stopped hugging me and I'm sure my body is numb already. "You'll be okay. I'll miss you though. Call us anytime okay we'll be here in a blink of a eye. And no boys" he says wiggling his eyebrows making me chuckle.

"Aye aye Captain" I smile saluting him. My parents come over and hold me tightly. "Come on guys, don't make me cry. We'll face time all the time and I'll come down and visit and you guys can come anytime" I say hugging them tightly.

"I love you honey. I know you going to make your dad and I proud. So just be safe alright ? And call us all the time. I'll miss you" she says smiling with tears in her eyes. "Oh my baby" she sobs softly.

Papa chuckles "she's a grown woman, love. She'll be fine we raised her well. Right Kylie?" My father questions smiling cheekily. "That you did, that you did papa" I smile.

"Even though you grown, I'll miss you my precious little girl" he smiles. "She's not a precious little girl, honey" my mother says back sarcastically.

I giggle while Jody chuckles. "I'll miss you mama, papa. So so much. Please take care of each other and my boys. Lord only knows how you guys will cope without me" I say jokingly. They all laugh lightly.

Giving me one tight last hug before they drive home. Breathing in and out. I decide to go for a walk to clear my mind.

Walking through the forest aimlessly until I fimd a beautiful lake. Sitting there just reminiscing about good old times. I had a great life growing up.

I always had the boys and they always had adventures and we were always getting into trouble. Not one day without them and laughing my ass off.

Being my parents only child I was always coddled. But in a good way and I loved it. I never went a day needing something or wanting it either I had everything and somehow I haven't turned out spoilt. Great parenting I guess.

This is going to be a huge adjustment but I'll get through it I know I can. This is something I've wanted for a long time.

Just then I realise the sun is setting and it'll be dark any minute now. Getting myself up dusting myself off I turn to walk back in the direction I came from but realized I have no idea which way that is.

If that wasn't bad enough I hear a twing snap and I think growling. Shivering a little, wishing I had the boys around right at this moment.

I snap out of it. I'm strong and brave and I can do this. I have to. The bushes start shaking more and I can feel something watching me. I'm about to make a run for it but a whimper freezes me.

Then the bushes start shaking some more and the breaking of branches start getting louder and louder until it's so close leaving me no time or place to run.

Any time now it's going to come out and I swear I'm about to piss my pants and just as im about to run it jumps out, ohhh fuck me! Is that what I think it is??
