Candice’s POV

The moment I finished speaking, Dorian's face hardened. His jaw tightened, and the pleasant facade he'd worn all night shattered, replaced by a flash of anger.

But he had no right to get angry. He was the reason everything happened. He was the cause of my pain and my tears.

I felt my chest rise and fall as I glared at him.

Taking a deep breath, Dorian’s voice came low, almost trembling.

“Candice… you have every right to say such words to me,” he said.

He lowered his eyes briefly before looking at me again.

“You even have every right to slap me this very instant—for leaving you. I know… I know you’ve always hated what I said three years ago. I tried to find you after that, but I couldn’t…”

His voice trailed off, and I could see the regret in his eyes, but it only made me angrier.

I slammed my palm against the table, cutting him off.

“Stop!” I shouted, my voice shaking with rage. My eyes burned. “Stop saying that, Dorian. Stop acting like that means anything!”

Candice’s POVBy the time I got home, I felt like all the energy had been drained out of me. But the moment I opened the door, two little voices made my heart squeeze.“Mommy! Mommy’s back!” Chloe and Caleb squealed together, running toward me.I forced a tired smile onto my face and bent down to catch them in my arms. Their tiny arms wrapped around me, and for a second, the heaviness on my shoulders eased. I smoothed Chloe’s soft hair and kissed her forehead. “My princess… how are you feeling today?” I asked gently.Chloe’s big brown eyes sparkled as she nodded with a wide grin. “I’m better, Mommy. I don’t feel hot anymore!”Relief washed over. At least she was okay.I was about to stand up when Caleb tugged at my sleeve with a pout on his face. His little arms folded dramatically across his chest.“Mommy! What about me?” he complained. “You didn’t ask me how I am. Don’t you care about me too?”I blinked at him, and then laughter burst out of me before I could stop it. He looked so

  • The Accidental Surrogate's Secret   Chapter 124- Meeting Up

Dorian’s POVThe afternoon of the third day came, and my secretary, Sarah, looked like she was about to lose her mind. “Sir,” she finally blurted out, stopping in front of me, “don’t you think it’s time we book a flight back home? It’s already the third day and… forgive me for saying this, but I don’t think Ms. Candice is going to come. Maybe she’s already made her choice.”I didn’t even glance up at her. Her words were nothing but noise in the background. “Sir?” she pressed again, her voice rising a little. “Should I call the airline now? We can have you back in the city by tonight. You don’t want to waste your time here for nothing.”Finally, I lowered the newspaper I was holding and looked at her. “Sarah,” I said in a calm tone, “do I look like a man in a hurry?”Her lips parted, but no sound came out. She looked down at the floor“No… sir,” she muttered.“Good,” I replied, placing the newspaper neatly on the table and taking another sip of tea. “Then sit down somewhere and stop

Candice’s POVOn the way back home, Caleb wouldn’t stop talking. His little voice filled the car with excitement.“Mommy, I like Grandpa’s stories! And Grandma gave me cookies before bed! Mommy, can we go again tomorrow? Please? Please? Uncle Jace, tell Mommy we should go tomorrow too!” he said, kicking his tiny legs happily.I glanced back at him, trying to hide my sigh. “Caleb, don’t talk nonsense. You can’t just trouble Grandpa and Grandma every day. They’re old, they need to rest.”“But they like me!” he insisted with a pout. “They said I can come anytime.”I pressed my lips together and shook my head. “Still, you shouldn’t bother them too much. And stop clinging to Uncle Jace all the time. People might misunderstand.”Caleb tilted his head. “Misunderstand? About what, Mommy?.”I swallowed, choosing my words carefully. “If you always follow Uncle Jace around, people will think he’s your father. That might… make his admirers stay away from him. It’s not good.”“Why?” Caleb asked, b

Candice’s POVAfter the IV drip finished that night, the doctor told me we could be discharged. He said there was no need for us to stay in the hospital anymore.“Your daughter will be fine now,” he reassured me gently. “Just make sure she takes the prescribed medicine for the next three days. She should recover well.”I thanked him profusely, shaking his hand. “Thank you so much, Doctor.“He smiled kindly. I held Chloe carefully in my arms. She was already fast asleep, her tiny breaths brushing against my neck. I didn’t want to wake her.But I was so tired. My body felt weak, my head heavy. The day had drained every bit of energy from me.I breathed heavily as I came out of the hospital and stopped while waiting for a taxi to take us back home. Cars zoomed by on the street, but no empty taxis in sight. Why now? I thought in frustration. Was this some kind of punishment? No taxis in sight, and I was already close to collapsing.I could feel my knees trembling beneath me.“Candice, d

  • The Accidental Surrogate's Secret   Chapter 121- All I Have Is Me

Candice’s POVThe ride to the hospital felt like a blur. All I could think about was getting there on time so the doctors can start treating my daughter. Please, let her be okay. Please…I held her small body against my chest, feeling the heat radiating from her burning skin. She whimpered weakly, her tiny fingers clutching at my shirt. My heart twisted. I felt like a terrible mother for not noticing sooner. After what felt like the longest ride I had ever had, we finally got to the hospital. I almost jumped out before the car had fully stopped. “Thank you,” I muttered quickly to the driver, fumbling with the fare before running inside with my daughter in my arms.“Help!” My voice cracked. “Where is the doctor? Someone, please! She’s burning up!” I said screaming as tears were threatening to fall from my eyes for the second time.A nurse at the desk immediately stood up and rushed over. She quickly scanned my daughter and nodded to another nurse. “Follow me. Hurry!”We were led dow
