Chapter 4

The thought that Ashley had seen a naked man for the first time in her life kept bothering her. She had not just seen any ordinary naked man, she had seen a naked alpha. The more she thought of the awkward situation, the more she became scared for her life.

What haunted her the most were the things the alpha said to her; the fact that he said that he wanted to see her naked; and the way his words made her feel. Why would the alpha say that? And why was there this tiny little bit of her that liked the way he was looking at her? She felt his piercing eyes while he walked around her. It almost felt as if she was bare before him.

She had never been naked before with anyone present, as she was insecure about her body. She knew she was not as pretty as the other girls her age, and to avoid being embarrassed, she always allowed the other girls to finish taking their baths before going into the bathroom.

But why was her heart throbbing while the alpha spoke? Why did her cheeks burn when he came closer to her? Many questions flooded her mind while she sat on a chair behind the clinic, staring blankly at the drying flowers in the garden. The sun was very hot, as it was the height of summer. There has been little or no rainfall in the past few days, and as a result, the flowers are not getting watered.

The servants that would usually want to water the plant have been very busy attending to patients or doing other things. Everyone has been pretty preoccupied with saving the lives of the wounded warriors in the pack.

She felt sorry for the flowers as she looked up into the sky and wished there was rainfall to water the plant. She felt as if the clouds could hear her thoughts. She was astounded to see the weather change, as clouds started gathering up and covering the sun. The once-hot atmosphere gave way as a cold, gentle breeze started blowing through the air.

The thunder erupted in the sky, and within seconds, a gentle rain began to fall from the sky. She was amazed by what was happening as she watched the rain in total awe. "Did I do this?" she wondered as she kept staring and listening to the little splashing sound of the rain on the plants.

"Why are you seated here alone?" June, who has been searching everywhere for her answer, But because Ashley was so lost in the moment of what had just happened, she got frightened by June's voice.

"Are you alright?" June asked, after noticing what her presence had caused. Ashley answered, hoping for the love of God that June would believe her. "Are you sure, because you've been acting strangely since we got back from the alpha house?"

"Did anything happen while you were there?" June asks, with genuine concern. As her eyes search for Ashley, it is as if the answers to her questions are written all over her body for her to see. "No, nothing. I am fine, "Ashley quickly answered. "Well, if you say so, Grace has been asking after you." "She told me to come and get you for her," June said, to Ashley, whose heart pricked a bit as to why Grace was looking for her.

She walked back into the clinic to see that a man had been admitted into the clinic. He has been badly injured and has lost a lot of blood. On inquiry, she was told that the man was attacked by a group of rogues, and he managed to survive the attack. Grace was doing all she could to stabilize the man. She bandaged the injured patient and administered some drugs, but her efforts were not bringing forth much-needed results.

And as a result, she was getting frustrated as there was little or no hope for the man to survive. After watching Grace for a few minutes, she decided to walk up to her to see if she could be of help. "Ma, you called for me," Ashley said calmly to a disoriented-looking Grace. "Yes, darling, honestly, I have forgotten the reason I was calling you in the first place." I am so confused.

I don't know what to do next. He has lost a lot of blood. "I hate to think that we are going to lose him and to think that his mate just gave birth to their first child two nights ago after many years of waiting is so heartbreaking," Grace said in a broken voice.

Ashley could sense the danger should she refuse to intervene at that moment, but she was also scared of what would happen next. What if they decide to abuse her and exploit her as the other pack did? What if they decide to lock her away for the sole purpose of getting her blood for a healing tonic? A painful groan from the man on the sickbed was all that Ashley needed to make her decision.

She just couldn't stand the pain the man was in, and the thought of the man's wife and his newborn baby rushed through her mind. She was going to help him at all costs, and maybe that was the reason she was never given a wolf in the first place. to be able to help people. Ashley pulled Grace's hand across the hall to a secluded area where she was sure she could not be heard by anyone.

"What is it?" Grace asked, surprised at Ashley's actions. "I can help him," Ashley mumbled to Grace, as tears flowed freely from her eyes. Grace did not hear very well what she had said, but she noticed that she was crying and got concerned.

"Are you alright, Ashley?" Grace asked in a motherly tone. "I said I could help him," Ashley said, sniffing her nose and wiping the tears from her eyes. Okay, it appeared Grace heard the first time but wasn't so sure of what she heard. "How?" Grace asked, looking curiously at Ashley, who walked away from her and went into the kitchen.

Grace was perplexed by Ashley's actions and words as she followed her to the kitchen to see what she was up to. Ashley picked up a knife and a clean white bowl, and before Grace could register what was happening, Ashley slit her wrist and blood started gushing out.

"What are you doing?" Grace asked in panic as she tried to take the knife away from her. But Ashley was quick to drop the knife as she tightened her fist to allow more blood to flow out of her wrist. "What are you doing?" Grace asked in total bewilderment.

"Take this and mix it with his medicine; he will get better as soon as he ingests it," Ashley said, holding on tight to her wrist, which was still bleeding. "I don't understand," Grace said in shock as she stared at the bowl of blood in her hands and the dripping blood from Ashley's wrist. "Inject him with the blood if you want him to survive. "Do it now, please," Ashley said pleadingly.

Grace rushed over to the equipment room to grab a syringe. She got some of the blood into the syringe and hurried down to the place where the man was lying down. She could tell the man was already too weak as his heartbeat had slowed down.

She felt a bit reluctant to carry out the instructions that Ashley had given her, as she wasn't sure that it would work. But she was willing to give it a try because, if she didn't, the man was going to die. She quickly injected the man with the syringe and what happened next was something Grace could never imagine was possible in her entire life of treating and attending to wounded patients.

The man's heartbeat returned to normal, and the little unbandaged injuries that were visible on the man's skin were healing up super fast. Grace was beyond stunned at what was happening as she stared at the patient who had drifted into a peaceful sleep in total awe.

Her eyes subconsciously drifted to the door, where she saw Ashley standing by the door with a faint smile. Her wrist was completely healed and looked like nothing had just happened. "Who are you?" Grace asked in total awe.
