Alpha Williams' POV

“They call it the Purple tongue curse.” Justin straightened the picture before me.

On it we're pictures of body parts all turning purple. Tongues, chest, arms, knees, necks and even eyes.

“They all have this in common too.” He pointed to another part of the picture. The engraving of a flower tattooed on their palms. “All the victims have those.”

“Any survivors?”

“None. All the children who were infected died.”

“That's bad news.” I sighed, a slight rub to the sides of my forehead. My brain felt like it had been split in half. “How many kids are we looking at?”

“About fifteen? There should be more. More reports are coming in by the minute.”

“That's even worse.” My head fell back, “any cure yet? What have the healers been able to come up with?”

“Nothing. No progress at all.” Justin shook his head, he settled into the chair before me. “I'm afraid the healers say they can only help contain the poisons in their body. Nothing more.”

“That's not good.” I dragged a deep

Maya's POV.“What is going on?” I barged in, eyes scanning the room, heart thundering in my chest.“There!” She pointed her hand from across the room. My vision swarmed in her direction. There, just feets away, was a child crotched down, shoulders shook violently, eyes bulging, red and tear stricken.“H-help…” his lips trembling. My limbs moved before my brain could. I rushed to touch him but the maid grabbed me.“Let go. He's sick.” I growled.“No, Luna. That's the reason you can't touch him. It's contagious.”Contagious?I stood balanced, her hand released from my side. My breath steadied. “What happened to him?”“H-help, Luna… help me please.” His voice was rough, hoarse with pain.My heart grew heavy. A tear threatened to fall. I could feel my heart breaking for this little boy.“We don't know but from what he told us, something about a leaf.”My ears perked. My eyes shot to the Alpha. Williams gave me a knowing look. Could it be the same flower I had thought of in my dreams?“Wh

Maya’s POVSleep had become a battlefield for me.As much as I tried to close my eyes, I couldn't.Especially when the Alpha was out of the pack, in meetings.Every night, when I tried, the shadows of my dreams twisted into my sister’s face. Sarah. Her eyes burning with hate, her voice hissing curses, her hands holding knives or fire or worse. One night she slit Alpha Williams’ throat in front of me. Another, she poisoned the food of the entire Silver Moon pack. Another still, she dragged me by the hair and whispered, "If I can’t rule, then no one will.”Each time, I woke up screaming. That morning, I sat on the edge of the bed, my chest heaving, sweat sticking to my nightdress. Alpha Williams stirred beside me.“You dreamed again?” he asked, his deep voice rough with sleep.I nodded, unable to meet his eyes. “She killed you again. I tried to stop her, but it’s like she’s… stronger than me in there.”He reached out and cupped my cheek. His touch alone slowed my trembling. “Dreams c

Maya’s POV'She's gone.' Melissa whispered in my thoughts. “Sarah is finally gone.”The hall still trembled from the echoes of Sarah’s curses even minutes after she left. Her words, her scent and her voice still lingered long after the guards dragged her and Thomas away. My chest rose and fell as if I had just run a marathon.I had not expected what the Alpha himself did.No way.I hadn't expected to be woken from sleep to testify against my sister and Alpha Thomas.I remembered the terror in their eyes as they watched me confessing. They looked like they would murder me if they could— and they tried. Now, my heart wasn’t only racing from fear—it was torn, pulled in two directions.Even though she was a traitor, she was my sister. No matter what she had done, no matter the poison in her heart, she was still the girl who once braided my hair and whispered secrets to me, even if they were just pretense.I lowered my gaze to the marble floor. “What if I’d done more? What if I could have

Alpha Williams’ POV“You're not going?!”“No.”“Why?”Pride was a funny thing—it strangled you when you wanted to reach out, held your hand when you wanted to let go. I wanted to go after her. Moon, I wanted to run after Maya, grab her, shake her, ask why she’d run from me.But I didn’t.Because I am Alpha Williams. And an Alpha never chases.“She didn’t reject you,” Balor murmured in my head, his voice low and steady.I clenched my jaw. “She ran from me. In front of my pack, Balor. That is worse than rejection.”“No,” my wolf rumbled, a growl deep in my chest. “Worse would’ve been her saying no. She didn’t. She panicked. There is hope still.”I exhaled sharply, leaning forward, elbows on my knees. Hope was dangerous. Hope got you killed. That night I slammed the door to my chambers, too furious to think, too bruised in pride to move. But by dawn, I forced myself calm. I had to. ---The knock on my door came mid-morning.“My lord,” a guard bowed, “Alpha Thomas and Lady Sarah have arr

Maya’s POVI sat on my bed, twisting the hem of my dress between my fingers. My mind had been circling the same thought over and over again—Sarah. Her voice from the woods still echoed in my head, I had memories of all the times we were children and how much she hated me.I thought of the way she acted even when we were teenagers.I tried to think back to the time when we lived together. How did I miss that she was a witch? It made my skin crawl.I should have felt relief that I finally had proof of her betrayal, but instead, fear gnawed at me. Sarah wasn’t just my step sister. Like it or not, she was still my blood. And exposing her felt like ripping my own heart out.The sudden knock on my door jolted me.“Maya,” a deep voice called. My heart skipped. Alpha Williams.I scrambled to my feet, smoothing my hair even though my palms were damp. “Yes, Alpha?” My voice was small, uncertain.“Come with me,” he said, his tone unreadable.I hesitated for a second before pushing the door op
