You Rejected Me First

Amber’s POV

“I Amber Cole of RaeganHill Pack reject you Cornel Raegan as my Alpha and mate”, the mate bond snaps and we both fall down

Seconds later, strong arms lift me up into a car and we drive off…

I wake up to birds singing on a bright morning, the smell of cedar and cigarette envelopes me and soothes my aching heart. The silk cloth …. wait… I do not own a silk cloth, I immediately become conscious and open my eyes but to my dismay I set my eyes on a hot body.

I lay back down and cover myself under the silk sheets, I cannot think about another man right now. Yesterday was a dream and today will be my special day.

“Finally awake?”, his deep voice asks

I steal a glance to make sure he is properly clothed and I sit up.

“Sorry about yesterday, nobody should be treated that way. How are you holding up?”, he says but continues, “ you have been out for a day, your family must be worried, I carried you here after you were left there lifeless, you can ….

“Hold on, who are you?”, I interrupt him

He flashes me a smile, “Dave, new guy… you gave me chocolate donuts last week. I wanted to return the favour.”

“Where am I, what happened, where is my mate???”I tried contacting my wolf but she was faint and my head ached. I rubbed my forehead.

He makes a sad face as he recounts what happened at my supposed mating ceremony… it finally clicks that it was all real…

…….. Two days earlier

“Amber we are so excited for you, Cornel is finally making you his mate and luna”, Cassie my maid says

I am super excited, its been two years since we found out we were mates and although Cornel has been pushing the ceremony farther, its finally happening

In a few hours, I Amber Cole will soon be Amber Raegan, Luna of RaeganHill Pack, I scream with excitement and my wolf Lana leaps with joy

“You seriously aren’t thinking about wearing that sheer robe fatty”, Annabel my young sister barges into my room as usual

I look at her in the mirror and respond curtly, “ Its my ceremony and I will dress however I please”

She glares at me and stomps out. A few minutes later, I hear the click of heels and I get scared. I only want to have one memorable day before I am sent away to my mate’s house, I plead internally .

“Girl, change into this, you cannot go about exposing pounds of skin irresponsibly”, my own mother Kathrine orders as she drops a servant’s robe on my vanity.

I try to argue but she shuts me up with her finger and steps out, Annabel shoots me a triumphant smile before she exits

I tried reaching Cornel, my mate, through the mind link but he wasn’t responding… Maybe he wants to keep this special for us, so I make excuses for him again.

After 2 hours it was finally night time and the moon was full and shining on me. I felt so blessed by the Moon Goddess.

A guard stops me as I try to get into the circle to meet Cornel, I look at him to intervene but he doesn’t. He makes a disgusted face at me and smiles brightly towards the crowd. I turn to follow his gaze and I realise he is actually smiling at someone. It is my younger sister Annabel in my now altered sheer robe being escorted by our parents.

I walk up to them furious, “what the actual fuck you guys, this is not funny”

Annabel draws closer to me and whispers in my ear, “you didn’t actually think you were going to be Luna did you??. Enjoy the show fatty”

She fakes a misstep and almost falls, our dad Bryan holds her in time, however an angry Cornel comes over and lands two slaps on my cheeks. I stare at him in disbelief.

“Annabel is 3 months pregnant, how can you be selfish”, mother reprimands me harshly through clenched teeth and a low tone.

He carries her into the circle and loudly addresses the pack, “As you all know today is a mating ceremony however I would like to introduce you all to my chosen mate and future Luna of our pack, Annabel Cole”

Gasp echoes all around me and people stare at me sadly, some also mock me and praise their Alpha for not choosing a fat wolf as their Luna. I was slow and useless for the role, they said .

“What happens to our mate bond”, I ask while forcing back tears.

He looked hesitant for a moment then Annabel gives his hands a squeeze, He straightens and declares, “I Alpha Cornel Raegan of the RaeganHill pack reject you Amber Cole as my mate”

“I choose and accept Annabel Cole as my chosen mate”

I feel the sharp tear and my wolf cries out in pain, I don’t cry out loud but I clutch my chest and turn to leave,…. two guards block me.

I do not turn but I hear him, “you shall stay and watch like every member of this pack”. I struggle to leave but more guards hold me still.

The rest is a blur, I barely hear the priest bless their union, I barely hear their vows, the only thing I heard loudly was Annabel’s hysterical loud moans as he took her before our eyes multiple times.

Unable to bear the pain, I collapsed onto the ground… this time nobody held me in place, I heard the footsteps going away as I passed out….

“So that is what happened, do you need anything”, Dave asks me

“I want to leave this place”, I quietly say

“Great, I will be travelling to Eaglestone pack, I heard they are welcoming we can go together, … as friends I mean”, he says

I lay back down and think about it, maybe a new environment will be good for me. I can explore the world and find myself again.

“Okay”, I say and head out to go home and pack for my trip.

He hurriedly joins me and we both walk in silence to the pack house

I feel the gaze of pack members on us, Dave reaches for my hand but I brush it away, I don’t need another man’s sympathy.

I hear them whisper and mock me, but none is bold enough to say it to my face. I may be 90kg, but I am not stupid or immobile. I once was the best and fastest warrior until I decided to become a lady fit for a luna, look at what that got me… I scoffed.

I got home safely, nothing looked out of order except me, I didn’t belong here. As I passed my sister’s room to head to mine, I heard her gloating in her room to her friends about how her plans had succeeded.

“Ladies she is too dumb, she will never know her allergy pills are actually weight gain supplements”, she said

“Thank the Moon Goddess we didn’t crown the fat dummy as Luna”, another says and they burst into laughter.

“She couldn’t even get pregnant by him but you Annabel are 3 months gone already. Such an infertile fatty”, someone said and they laughed harder

I gasp, the pregnancy wasn’t a dream either, I got teary and I tried to run away but a maid intentionally bumped into me causing her food platter to fall on me. I looked up to see Cassie, my maid waving a mocking smile at me.

Annabel came out of her room and she frowned when she saw me.

“What are you doing here you fat bitch, just die already”, she grabs my hair and I allow myself to be dragged into her room.
