I have been watching my husband ponder over his own thoughts for a long time and it made me so worried.

I had never seen him like this, sitting there thinking as if the world was about to end.

“You’re worrying again,” I said as Lucien pressed his forehead into his palms.

What could be the problem this time?

The candles between us flickered, casting shadows over wrinkled lines that I had never seen on his face.

Worry... that same worry he used to chain to a problem now twisted inside him.

I had never watched him like this. He was silent and broken.

I took a breath and reached for his hand. My voice was calm and soft enough not to startle him.

“I don't know why you keep doing this to yourself. You know that you are allowed to be afraid. Don't you?” I asked and He looked up at me.

His eyes were red and exhausted. The older and tougher Alpha spirit in him had slipped away, and for now, I saw the vulnerable man behind it.
