Swinging her legs over the bed, Amelia gingerly walked to the windows only to see that it was heavily barricaded against the sunlight and wind. She flung one of the fur coverlets over her shoulder and treaded carefully in between the mass of maids lying on the floor of her room. Sparing a last glance at the snoring maids in the chambers, she left the chambers and went out into the short passageway beyond, which was lit with torches set in metal scones. Two flight of stone steps were lightened by the torches’ flickering light—one led up, while the longer one led downstairs, she took the one leading up to the direction where a blast of wind came. She rested at each climb as she is still recovering. She soon found herself on the large balcony overlooking the seas and she inhaled the fresh air wafting about her, tussling her raven curls. Smiling, she pulled the fur coverlet about her shoulder and climbed up onto the thin, slippery palings of the stone balcony. She held on to a po
“Shitty vampires!” Conroy kept pacing his room, nursing his wounded pride as thought and discarded ideas on how to leave this forsaken kingdom of the vampires with his mate safely to Valeria. There was something wrong back in Valeria, his wolf has refused to shake off that feeling of foreboding and ominous intuition. And he has tried to mind-link his beta unsuccessfully but one thing was sure to him, he was not going to spend eighty moons in Ancientrova because of some stupid blood pact. Just as he kept pacing and growling, it came to his mind that he had not visited his Assassin mate since she was taken into the northern wing. He had felt very uncomfortable and angry when the bastard Fehr had insisted on separating him from his mate and the glint in Fehr’s eyes told him he would hurt Amelia if he didn’t comply. Bounding out of the room, he strode down the stone halls closely accompanied by the vampire guard Fehr had stationed outside his chambers. He stopped walking abruptly
Before they could take another step into the forest, in a flash, Fehr appeared in front of them. “My sweet Catalina, why did you have to follow his path of doom? You belong here with me.” Fehr said in a voice filled with emotion. “You are wrong; I belong with none other than my mate. I am the Luna of Valeria. To hell with the blood pact, let us go. You can’t keep us here forever.” “Cease your cursed words! I have had enough of you referring to this little thing as your mate. I am your husband! Every Vampire in my kingdom is ready to take you back as their queen. How sure are you that the bloodhounds won’t kill you as soon as you step into Valeria? Ancientrova is your home and I would never let you go, not after waiting for a century and half.” Fehr snapped. Conroy willed his wolf to the back of his mind. He’d deal with this son of a whore how he dealt with those who tried to take what belonged to the Valerian pack. “Fehr, I am going to cut you another deal.” Conroy called,
~In Valeria~ The moon shone brilliantly in the wee hours’ sky, a striking contrast of a white crescent against the dark blue hue. The milky orb cast its light down on the land below and to a particular castle that stood lofty. The sound of running feet slapping against the cobblestoned ground inside the gates of the palace could be heard from a distance. “You have to go!” Beta Arian ordered his wife and mate, Beta Luna Sian where they stood in their bedroom, arguing. She wiped the tears from her face with the back of her hand, “I am not going anywhere without you or my pup. I want to stay here in Valeria and fight along with you.” Arian in frustration, swept a hand over his head and roughly grabbed his mate’s arm, “Woman, can’t you be sensible for a goddamned second! If we all stay here and that stupid omega gets here, then we would be doomed, all of us will die! You need to get to Ancientrova to get our king Conroy.” She shook off his tight grip as she is a werewolf, pow
“You know, I have always wondered and tried to understand you. Why you stuck with your alpha Conroy even when he treats you like shit and I finally got my answer.” “You know you are better than your king and should sit on this throne but because you are a scared little shit, you accept the title of second-in-command. Second in command is just a glorified title for a fool that decides to sit back and watch.” “You take every insults your king throws at you with an easy smile not because you don’t know your worth. You know King alpha Conroy doesn’t deserve the throne. No king would leave his subjects unprotected.” The Omega’s voice was filled with hate. “Are you done?” Wolf Arian snarled. “I never quite expected you to understand what it feels like to be unable to protect your mate since you will never have one. The moon goddess won’t make the mistake of having you mated. King Alpha Conroy didn’t run from his duties, in fact he is trying to save the Luna of Valeria. So as the seco
“Run as fast as you can! They are coming after you!” Kept ringing in Sian’s head. The slave that her mate had ordered to follow her lifted his face towards her for one second with an expression of amazement and lust as she was stripping off her clothes to shift. She scowled at him and he lazily looked away. She shifted and grabbed her clothes between her teeth, shaking out her limbs. She could see the servant taking his time to appreciate the raw strength that ran along the muscles in her legs. Something was not right and then it clicked. All other guards and servants in the castle had been killed asides him! He was one of them. A traitor! Hiding her terror, she nudged him with her shoulder and they both took off in the dark shafts, barely lighted by the torches rowed along the wall. AUuuuuuuu! The howls echoed in the shaft and Sian’s heart was beating faster, she should have left Valeria in search of their king as soon as her mate had instructed her. They stayed in
“What the hell does this witch want?” her wolf growled in her subconscious. Sian could feel her wolf literally bouncing and struggling to take over and shift but the vine was so tight around her that she could barely breathe. “Now, tell me everything that happened in Valeria.” Elena sang in a hypnotic voice as she stared deep into Sian’s eyes. Sian’s dark pupil dilated and spread out till her eyes were entirely black, covering her amber iris and her shoulders slumped. “I am not supposed to tell you this but an assassination was attempted on the king few moons ago,’ Sian began in a whisper as her eyes were totally black. “But the assassin that tried to kill the king turned out to be his mate and strangely consumed poison.” Elena was silent as she absorbed the information, staring at the beautiful she-wolf she had hypnotized. The queen mother had warned her to never use this dark side of her magic as it had its side effect but difficult times called for tougher solutions. "Th
“A king breaking the laws of his own kingdom is not really compelling to his subjects.” Arian scowled at King Conroy. “And by not breaking the law. You mean I should agree to you burning my mate for she tried to assassinate me?” “If you put it that way, then yes! You were barely able to stop the takeover your omega had planned.” “Your skanky wolf should be grateful to my mate or you would have no King breaking laws. She saved me back in Ancientrova.” Conroy responded as he peered at the scrolls in front of him. He was in his study with his Beta. “Why should I be grateful to the one who tried to kill you? She is not befitting of the seat of the queen. You should reject the mate bond and take your mistress, Luna Antoinette as your queen of Valeria.” Arian argued. “If she hadn’t shown up, you wouldn’t have gone to that blood-sucker Kingdom and there wouldn’t have been an attempt to take Valeria by those rogues.” He added gloomily. At the mention of that name, Conroy’s jaw fl
