JASMINE

Today is the day that Sloane and I would be released from the infirmary. It should have felt like freedom, but why does it feel like a cage.

Lucien isn't here, not when I woke up this morning, or when the pack doctor declared me fit to leave the infirmary, not even when Xavier barged into our former room with a battalion of guards to escort me to my new room.

He is ignoring me. I know it, he knows it too.

After everything that has happened, the blood claim, the threats, the bond that neither of us could control or deny, I had thought or even hoped that he would at least show his face.

Even if only out of duty. But no.

The silence from him stung deeper than the mark of a physical wound ever could.

Sloane chatters beside muttering something along the line of making hospitals illegal. Her wolf side suddenly began showing within this week, the harsh smell of bleach became her nightmare I the infirmary.

Even if her chattering is cheerful, it's not quite there. It seems fo

  • The Alpha's Claim    CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR: GOODBYE LUCIEN

JASMINE " Monster" Vivian whispers in terror. " Just following my family's footsteps" I whisper back, knowing that deep down that Lucien's comments of me being like my biological father really got me. " Jas that's enough " Sloane say in a low tone. I'm very sure she's about to lose her breakfast, and if I do more, she would lose last night's dinner and won't have an appetite for lunch. " You three are to kneel here till 10pm, or till Lucien comes and release you. I've been told that my Alpha voice is stronger than most Alphas" I say. I look at Brittany whose blood Is already pooling on the ground, there is no good spot on her face, and her nails are still digging in deeper. " That's Enough Brittany" Brittany's hand fell in exhaustion, her body shaking from the pain that she's currently going through. The pain that Sloane would have gone through if I didn't do this. " Look at what you did to yourself" I tutted, now sounding like a villainess. "Maybe if you didn't have eyes m

  • The Alpha's Claim    CHAPTER TWENTY-THREE: MONSTER!

JASMINE " Why aren't you speaking?" I ask. Silence settling in the cafeteria. The girls looked gob smacked like this was the first time anyone has ever spoken to them that way." You waltz to my table like the whole world owes you money for even being alive and you confront me of finding my mate... Yet you don't have the decency to introduce yourself" I continue." Preach!" I try to hold in my laughter as someone shouts from the audience. The blonde haired girl looks at the Audience, trying to find the person who said that." Blondie, my eyes are here!"She looks back at me, indignant. At what? The fact that I stood up to them?I have been through a lot in house Malvore and I am not going to take this disrespect." How dare you speak to us that way, do you know who we are" Blondie screeches." No I don't!..... Why don't you introduce yourself, instead of screaming here like a shrew"" Period!" Sloane chimes in." Shut up half-ling " the baby faced twin spat out in disgust." Not in

  • The Alpha's Claim    CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO: CONFRONTATION

JASMINE The pack house was buzzing with late morning chatter. The scent of grilled meat and fresh bread drifted from the kitchen, mingling with the crisp tang of pine from the open windows. Outside, the sound of pups laughing and splashing in the shallow stream behind the pack house filtered in like an old memory of home.....except this wasn’t home. My home to be exact. The pack house was practically the central Wing of the Malvore territory, housing mostly the teens and unmated youths. It had a huge cafeteria that could house the whole Malvore wolves. I sat at the long wooden table between Isla and Wyatt, Sloane leaning back in her chair across from us, balancing on two legs like she owned the place. Isla was nibbling on a pastry while Wyatt was in the middle of a story about one of the younger wolves trying to challenge him to a race and losing spectacularly. How mature. “You didn’t have to humiliate him,” Isla chided between bites, though the sparkle in her eyes betrayed her

  • The Alpha's Claim    CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE: WHAT'S LEFT BEHIND

JASMINE The Malvore territory felt so much quiet now. Other days I would see kids playing in the maze garden, or teens sparing in the east wing courtyard. Instead everyone stayed home and security was tighter, especially in the North wing. Everyone became solemn as their leader left for the meeting. After reading their history books, their behavior Is perfectly justified. Their leader can be assassinated like the former leaving them leaderless, to be divided by ravenous houses. Lucien left at dawn. I watched from the window as he entered car, vera dressed in a red formal dress entered the car behind him. Although they didn't enter the came vehicle, they still looked like the rightful Alpha and alpha female. I watched as his convoy pulled away, sleek cars slicing through the morning mist, sentinel guards surrounding him like iron shadows. Even through all this, he didn't look up. Not once. And why would he? He made it clear that night, I’m not his Alpha Female. Not his partner,

  • The Alpha's Claim    CHAPTER TWENTY: THE COUNCIL

LUCIENSilence coated the chambers as everyone waited for the last house to show up. The chamber was colder today, not by degrees, but by presence. The moment the envoys of House D’Arvenzi stepped into the Council Hall, the temperature shifted. Words hadn’t yet been spoken, but already I felt it.Today is going to be hectic. They wore the D’Arvenzi colors, black and crimson, the shade of blood spilled in elegance. Their acting Alpha, Ronan D’Arvenzi, walked at the head, flanked by three sentinels, all lean, sharp-eyed wolves who reeked of arrogance and perfectly masked menace. As acting alpha, he had the right to sit amongst us, but that didn't mean we will all see him as one of us.I didn’t stand. He didn’t bow.Of course.Ronan’s pale eyes swept across the chamber, pausing on me for just a breath too long. The corner of his mouth curved.“Lucien,” he said smoothly, like he could already see himself as my equal. My wolf growled from his disrespect, obviously seeing Ronan's wolf as be

  • The Alpha's Claim    CHAPTER NINETEEN: THE SUMMONS

LUCIENFifteen days.Fifteen days since I rejected her as my Alpha female. Jasmine hadn’t come to see me once to complain or try to work things together. Not a glance or a word. Not even a whisper of her presence near my floor. Maybe it's because I've forbidden her name from being spoken in the East wing. Her lack of care for our future shouldn't have mattered to me. It shouldn't be getting under my skin. But it did.And everyday without her I feel like I'm fucking insane.Because every day she didn’t come back to me, every hour she didn’t confront me, i wondered if I’d cut deeper than I intended. And maybe I wanted her to bleed.Maybe I wanted her to fight for the title she claimed she didn’t want.Instead, I got silence. She gave me exactly what I asked for. And somehow, it felt like punishment. The knock on my door was delicate and sharp. My wolf immediately perked up, his ears pulled back, growling with subtle ferality.I didn't need to smell the wolf to know who it was at the doo
