42| An Unnamed Emotion
Dorian was pissed off. “Why is there another fae with us?” Kai grumbled for the umpteenth time. He had reached the palace early and was looking forward to spending some time with Serena. The girl sounded morose the previous day and Dorian wanted to know the reason behind it. However, that scheming fae king had to ruin that plan of his by sending what he called a “chaperone”, but Dorian knew better. It was another way of spying. Vulcan did not trust him and neither did Dorian trust the former, but this was going a little beyond the subtle boundary.
Serena remained unusually silent during the drive to Barbara and Liam’s house. He stole glances at her several times as the fae sat straight, wedged in between them at the backseat.
