Chapter 30

RILEY:

"We're almost there, my lady," Sansa informs me.

We were out in the pack area to check on Menya. I told her that I wanted to know how well she was faring and probably see to it that she is well taken care of should it be that things weren't looking good.

But I wasn't alone with her. I have two guards behind me who were meant to keep me safe from any harm. Hopefully there won't be anything that will warrant them having to see to my safety.

"Who's her mate again? Is he a warrior like yours?" I ask her, trying to understand how Menya's bonding was.

"He was," she says.

"Was?"

"Yes, my lady. He was forced to quit after sustaining a life-threatening injury to the neck. Hasn't been much stable since then."

"And how did he get such an injury?"

"He was shot with a silver bullet. It took a miracle to keep him alive."

Now that's a strange term I just heard. Isn't a bullet supposed to just be a bullet? What's with the 'silver' in front
