Hayley POVYou could hear a pin drop when I walk into Blake Steel’s office. He’s sitting behind his large desk, lounging back in his imposing black leather chair, looking relaxed and as if he’s thoroughly enjoying himself. Marcus, on the other hand, looks tense. Marcus POV A wide river marks the boundary between the Grey Ridge pack and Reynold’s territory. It’s slow and meandering, the dark water reflecting silvery grey in the moonlight on this clear, bright night. When I crawl to a stop behind Rex and park my truck, a stony-faced Cooper is standing mid-way across the bridge, arms crossed over his muscular chest, eyes fixed firmly on his mate. Leila POV“Marcus, I… I… how?” I stutter as words completely fail me. When I heard the knock at the door, I thought it was the alpha’s sister, Maya, stopping by for a chat. The last person I expected to see on my doorstep was Marcus. How did he find me? How did he get on to pack territory? Leila POV“You don’t have any shoes on,” I comment absentmindedly, but what really catches my attention is the thick bulge in the front of his black combats. I can feel his hard length where our bodies press together. The rustic one-roomed cabin I’m holed up in, which up to now had seemed quaint and cosy, suddenly feels tiny. Marcus POVThe smell of fresh coffee rouses me from my deep sleep. It’s clear that I’ve slept far longer than I planned when I see the strong midday sunlight streaming in through the windows. Leila POVHearing Marcus’s banter with my brothers warms my heart and I feel as though happiness is radiating from me, that everyone around me must be able to see it and feel it. He fits in here.
