Chapter 6

When I entered the kitchen and headed towards the man who appeared to be in his thirties. He stopped teaching the employees and stared at me in shock. "You are going to be the Alpha's maid, are you?"

The apartment house on the world of humans did not have a kitchen that could compare to the size of this one. On the other hand, the cooks here were not using gas stoves; rather, they were generating fires in between bricks and soil-made stoves.

The temperature had reached an unfathomable new peak. I couldn't help but wonder how people could survive there in the scorching heat. It was already a form of pain for me.

I simply nodded and bowed my head since I wasn't concerned enough. "You're right, and my name is Caroline. His maid." If he had dared to keep my mother hidden and played the cruel game, I would have no choice but to kill him as quickly as possible and become his murderer.

"Is it true that Alpha selected you?" The individual didn't believe either me or the choice that was made by his Alpha. Even if I did understand why they were acting in this manner, I wouldn't care about it.

"He did." I answered boldly while gathering my composure. There is no need for someone to be anxious when facing their adversary. That would be silly to be anxious about it, in all honesty.

"You should come with me." The man stated before leading me to the room that was adjacent to the kitchen. It was the location where I was able to observe nothing but serving utensils, such as glasses, goblets, bowls, plates, and spoons.

"Allow me to demonstrate Alpha's possessions to you." He remarked this as he pulled out of the cupboard a ceramic dish and bowl that both featured intricate carved motifs. "It's his dish, and those are his spoons." After picking up a goblet and a glass, he placed a spoon on the plate and then took the spoon, the goblet, and the glass in his hands. "You need to keep reminding yourself of this for the time being since I am aware that you will soon acquire knowledge of other things. "

"Do I need to learn more about things in the kitchen?" I inquired since I was aware that being a maid would include a much wider variety of responsibilities.

He made a head shaking motion. "No, if the Alpha makes you his personal maid, it does not mean that you are required to cook for him or wash his clothes. It is not the same. I don't want to put you in a state of fear." He gave a hushed chuckle before continuing.

I may have had the appearance of a sweet girl, but I wasn't. I had constructed a fortress within myself that was impregnable to any and all attempts at breaching it. "I do not have any fear. What are the responsibilities?"

The man began speaking, and I took note of it. "You are obligated to be in his company. You are going to see his requirements. You are going to select the appropriate attire for him to wear for the day. You are going to be responsible for informing the cooks about the meals that he is going to be consuming and ensuring that the food will be prepared to his liking. You should be worried about everything, including his physical and mental well-being."

"It's the same as if I were his slave." It was in all actuality exactly the same as being his slave. It was never a maid's responsibility to take care of the master's body or mind. Serving was the only responsibility ever assigned to maids.

"Well. And when he is sleeping, you are not allowed to leave him alone. Did I tell you that?"

I momentarily widened both of my eyes. "I can't?" A minimum amount of sleep is required for a person to exhibit normal behavior. How could he be that heartless?

"Even if he is sleeping, you are obligated to care for him in some way."

I had to force a breath to prevent my jaw from clenching. "What about the rest I get?"

"If he tells you to sleep, you will comply," He let out a sigh, which indicated that even though we were not acquainted, he was likely concerned about me. This man had the bearing of a gentleman.

"Wow!" My existence would be thrown into disarray if it were up to him, my adversary. "From what point should I get started?" I choked up and snapped out of my sour thoughts with a clear throat. I needed to put all of my attention and concentration on completing my task.

"The woman who used to be the maid is present, but she will soon be moving up in the ranks. After putting this on, I believe you're ready to get started." He got down on his knees, opened a drawer in the cabinet, and began pulling articles of clothing out of the drawer.

As soon as he handed me the robes, I examined them very thoroughly. "Could it be a frock?" The dark cloak that I was holding resembled a short, circular dress more than anything else. The apron was black, and there was a headpiece with lacing in addition to a pair of white tights.

"I am a man. I do not have the faintest idea. But this should be what the maid is wearing "I had just left the world of people when the most polite man I had ever encountered remarked.

"Alright. Where is the nearest restroom?" I adopted an obtuse stance. It never occurred to me that he may instruct me to do so in this space.

"Come with me." He descended the saltbox that was adjacent to the castle by way of a rather large hallway. I read the board that indicated that it was a servant quarter before taking any steps inside. He gazed at me while kicking open the door to the living room that was the closest to him. "Your name should be on the door. You are not permitted to reside with Ryder until there is an official announcement that you have married him."

"Also, try not to make Alpha angry. Disappointing him may take you down a path that is fraught with danger." He added. "Just so you know, my name is Harris," he said.

"That will stick in my mind. It's my pleasure." I put on an act of smiling and bowed once more.

He gave me a grin in return and slapped me on the shoulder. "Please, Caroline, once you have finished, transport the juice to him. Soon, he will appreciate mango juice."

"At this very moment, where is he?" I was completely clueless about both him and this fortress until very recently. In such a wide space, it will be difficult for me to track him down.

Mr. Harris gave a shrug of the shoulder. "Nobody is certain. You need to discover that information."

I paused for a moment, let out a quiet breath, and restrained myself from arguing. "I am going to find him. No issue."

"I like your courage." After making these remarks, he got up and walked away.
