Chapter 3 Alpha Greyson

ALPHA GREYSON’S POV.

Water dripped from my body, The cooling air from the AC blowing from my body, and I breathed in deeply. The air was soothing and I wiped my body with my towel, and picked up a pair of Joggers, and wore them. My stomach growled and I groaned in hunger. I hadn’t had anything to eat since the afternoon of the day before. I walked out of my study-bedroom and went to the dining table. The aroma of grilled chicken hit my nose and inhaled it happily. I sat at the head of my table and waited for the maid in charge of serving food to serve me. Soon enough, Alana, the head maid in charge of the affairs of the house, a woman who was in her mid-fifties, came out of the kitchen.

“Afternoon, Alpha.” She greeted, her head bowed.

“Afternoon? It's afternoon already?” I asked in surprise and looked at the big clock that hung from the wall in the dining room.

“Damn, I didn’t realise the time had gone like that. No wonder I am starving.” I said and Alana smiled.

“Well, You must be starving.” She said with a smile and I nodded my head.

“That is very correct. I have been at work for close to 24 hours without having anything to eat except water and wheat biscuits which don’t even count as a snack, so yeah I am starving.” I said and she clapped her hands. Two maids brought out a plate of well-fried rice with grilled chicken and my stomach leaped in happiness at the sight.

“Thank you very much, Lan,” I said and hurriedly started eating. Digging into my breakfast, I remembered I had not seen my parents so I hurriedly turned to look at Lana.

“Where are Mother and Father?” I asked.

“Oh, they left about an hour or two ago, to go meet your future family-in-laws.” She said and I dropped my fork. My appetite ran away immediately and my blood ran cold.

Family in-law? I had no idea that such plans were in motion. I stood up and left the food on the table.

“Where are you going, Alpha? You haven’t finished your food yet.” Alana said and I glanced at her with cold eyes, making her shiver and sigh.

“To my bedroom.” And with that, I walked to my bedroom. I locked the door as I entered the room and I sat on my bed.

I felt angry and betrayed at the same time. I didn’t expect Mother to go ahead and do this even when I had said no. I understand that tongues were continually wagging about my sexuality and that Mother and Father were desperate. But at the same time, I thought Mother only cared about my happiness. And why was she worried about my sexuality, when she knew what happened to Noriel? I sighed, trying hard to control the anger that was brewing inside me. I decided to get some sleep, before going back to work with the papers.

I heard a knock on my door, and that made me wake up.

“Who is there?” I asked.

Greyson, it's me.” I heard Mother’s voice from the door. Great, just the person I wanted to see.

Great. Just the person I wanted to see. “I am coming, Mother,” I said and stood up from my bed and walked to the door. I opened the door and saw her standing and I stepped aside to let her into the room. I locked the door back. I sat on the bed and Mother sat on the chair behind my reading table.

“How are you, Grey?” She asked, reaching out to rub my hair affectionately and I sighed. Mother seemed to forget that I was no longer five years, but twenty nine years, soon to be thirty.

“I am okay, Mother,” I said and she studied my face.

"That is not the way someone who is happy to see his mother would greet her. Is anything the matter?” She asked worriedly and I sighed again and glared at her.

“Mother, am I a child to you, that I can’t say I do not want something and you leave it that way?” I asked and she relaxed in the chair.

”I see you heard that we went to Walter's today.” She said and I raised my eyebrow.

“I’m sorry, who?” I asked angrily and she raised her eyebrow too.

"The Walter’s, Grey. That is your future family-in-law.” She said and I shut my eyes in frustration.

“I told you, that I want to have nothing to do with that family, Mother. I could marry from any other family, but not that one.” I said and Mother shook her head and sighed.

“What in the world do you mean by that? In this case, you have no say. I have had little success in convincing your father to allow me to handle this affair. Just stay put and say nothing. I know very well that left for you, you would remain a widower forever. But, Grey, life doesn’t work like that. You need to learn to embrace love once again, or you're going to be filled with unnecessary hate toward humans. And what better family to marry into than the Walter’s? They are quite influential and besides Bella used to be Noriel’s friend. What other person would be great for marriage, if not her?” Mother said and I sighed.

“Would I be happy with her? Mother, shouldn’t that be what matters first?” I asked and she smiled.

“You will. I know for sure that she would make you happy. And no more arguments about this okay?” She said and I sighed in defeat.

"Okay, Mother,” I said, sullenly. Whatever Mother wanted, that was what she would get, it didn’t mean how she was going to get it, but she would get it done.

“Oh and one more thing, Son.” She said as she stood up. I looked at her with the expression on my face, like ‘What now’. “You have to check if she is clean. And the arrangement has been made for tonight. You understand.” Mother said and I looked at her like she had gone crazy.

“Wait what? That soon?” I asked incredulously and she nodded.

“Yes, it's tonight. Although, I played a little trick. I told them that somebody else would do the check and not you. That would only go as far as to know how honest they are. So for your good, get ready. We can’t marry someone who is not clean into our family. Understood?” She said and without letting me acknowledge it, she walked out of the bedroom. I sighed at Mom’s statement and I slumped back into my bed.

I walk over to my phone and put a call across to one of our hotels which mum has booked for me and the one that is to be checked.

"Hello." The receptionist answered the call.

"My Mum booked a room, Has the guest arrived?" I asked the receptionist who picked up the call.

"No sir."

"Let me know whenever she arrives."

"Yes sir." And with that, I cut the call and walked over to the wardrobe to get a change of clothes.

I think I'm going to have to meet my bride-to-be today. I can no longer escape my mother. I have turned down most of the choices of ladies she finds for me but I think I'm just going to accept this one to relieve her of stress and worry.

As I search my wardrobe I wonder what my wife-to-be will look like. Well, I don't care much because this is just an arranged marriage. My heart will forever belong to only one woman.

But tonight I think I have a lot to do in bed.
