A stranger at my house

"I can't believe this," The handsome stranger muttered in exasperation, moving away in the direction of the window where he stood with his hands in his pants pockets staring outside. His lips were in a thin line, obviously not satisfied with the knowledge that a girl like me was carrying his golden baby on top of the fact that I was his mate.

Well, duh, it wasn't like I was happy about any of the ideas too. I was still astounded by the manner everything seemed to be unfolding. A mate? I wasn't ready to be anyone's baby carrier not to mention a mate!

I just need them to remove, evacuate... whatever terminology they used to remove a baby from someone. Jeez!

Dr. Spencer sensing the tension, gave me a charming smile and came around the table to stand beside me, taking my hands in hers and looking me directly in the eyes. "Emma, you must trust me in this. I will handle it."

I snatched my hands off. This time it was my turn to move away, letting out a stiff breath. "I am sorry, Dr. Spencer, but this is too much to take in. I- I am not ready to be a mother."

"That is the point, Emma," She intruded sharply. "You don't need to be a mother to the child. All you need is to ...just be the carrier until it's due. The Alpha already have things in place to cater to that."

"About that..." The man said, jabbing a finger at us then paused, his eyes fixed on me, lips twitching as though thinking his next statement through. "I have changed my mind about that."

"About what, Alpha?" Dr. Spencer queried, her smile not wavering. My attention was on him too. In curiousity.

"About..." He took a step towards us, his eyes still on me, unhinged. "The arrangement. I need the contract altered."

"Alpha_"

"This minute!" His tone was absolute, brooking no argument. "It appears I have found the very thing I thought I would never find, despite not being in agreement with the packaging, but... I guess I can make a compromise. After all, the goddess knows best, don't you agree, Dr. Spencer?" A flick of a smile passed over his facade further plunging my world into a state of confusion. What is going on here?

"Alpha Ethan, you see_"

"Do you have anything contrary to my request?" He cut her off. My eyes went from one person to another, my head almost exploding in fury at how arrogant and intimidating this man was and at the same time, appalled that a woman of Dr. Spencer's pedigree would allow him to drive her to speechlessness. It made me curious, desiring to know why.

"No, I totally agree." She exhaled and glanced at me empathetically.

"Great, then, I will see you soon." He gave me a pointed look, heaved and as impeccably as his carriage, walked out of the room.

At this point, I lost it and faced the Dr. "W-what is going on here?" I asked, splaying my hands.

She gave me a defeated look. "I'm sorry, Emma, at this point there is nothing I can do about this. I brought you here based on the discussion I had with the Alpha but it seems he now has other plans."

"What do you mean? You are the Dr. you can do anything you want. And for a starter, removing this... this- this thing inside of me."

"I can't, Emma. That is the offspring of Alpha Ethan, the most powerful and influential Alpha in the world. There is nothing I can do about it unless he commands me to."

I was about to contradict her when I got a mind link from none other than my dear stepfather. "Where the fuck are you?"

"I-I went to_"

"Come home now." And the link went off.

I rolled my eyes, darted at the Doctor and hurried out. My stepfather cannot find about the pregnancy for now. If he not, my mother or not, he was definitely kicking me out of his pack. That would be the end of me. I have to tell my mother about this meeting.

I reached home as fast as the wind but instead of going in through the front door, I passed through the backdoor so as to freshen up before going down to see the Alpha. If not, he would use the scents on me to know where I had been and raise questions. In my room, I rapidly refreshed, wore a new dress and made my way out.

I bumped into my stepbrother- the snobbish oaf. I tried to ignore him, but he stopped right in front of me and stared down his nose at me with a devilish smirk hovering over his face. One that oozed mischief. "Let me pass, Harper," I hissed under my breath, already irritated.

"Or, what?"

"The Alpha is waiting for me, I don't have time for your baby tantrums."

"Oh... don't worry about my Dad, he would happily wait as long as he can. Not when he was finally disposing of your good-for-nothing ass."

My eyes fell, a sick feeling rising in the pit of my guts. "W-what do you mean by that?"

This time a full smile broke out on his face. "I can't spoil the surprise now, can I? Go on and see for yourself, loser." He finished with a scoff and brushed past me but not before making sure my shoulder felt the impact of his absence.

I stood there raking my head on the implications of his statement. Could it be that my mother had told the Alpha about the pregnancy? But she couldn't. She promised we were going to keep this from him until we had a solution. She couldn't betray me like that knowing how merciless the Alpha could be.

Standing there wasn't going to provide me any answers, so I quickened my pace down the stairs. After all, it might be nothing. Harper fibbed most times when he grew too bored and sought a way to unleash his wicked ways.

The moment I was about to open the living room doors, my blood froze as my nose caught a familiar scent, accompanied by the repulsing voice of my stepfather. But this time, it became even more repulsive as a result of what he was saying. "I don't care what you do with her, Alpha Ethan as long as you take her as far from here as possible. She has been nothing but a menace and very useless, contributing nothing tangible to this pack."

A million cold words from my stepfather wouldn't have prickled my heart as much as it does now because I have always known he despised me. However, the fact that he was talking to my fated mate about me in that manner, broke me. Maybe because I knew that the said man he was demeaning me to didn't like me, or that he was willing to dispose of me that easily, it made me realise just how dispensable and worthless I truly was.

Before I could stop myself, I busted into the room furiously, tears clouding my vision. "How could you?"

Their eyes fell on me, one dulling at seeing me and the other seemingly spotting a smirk. A sinister smirk.

"You came just at the right time, Emma," My stepfather quipped.  "Alpha Ethan told me about your unfortunate situation and I was glad to exchange you for a small piece of land he was willing to trade for you. You see, you proved to be useful at the end, after all."

"How could you!" I shrieked, my waterpot shattering. "Was that all you thought I was worth to you? A small piece of land? You are supposed to be my father!"

"Well, fortunately, I'm not." His statement was followed by a foul throaty chuckle.

"Does my mother know about this?"

"She has no say in this decision, Emma." He shouted, supposedly feeling smug. His eyes were filled with fire as he darted at me, his finger jabbing at my face, horrendously. "She knows it's in your best interest that you go with the Alpha."

"I hate you!" I cried out, more tears pouring down my face. "You will regret this."

“Oh, I already began regretting the very day I allowed a disgusting useless omega like you into my house. For once, just this once try not to be selfish and be valuable to me!” I trembled and staggered back, my head falling to the ground in submission. He did to me each time he wanted to shut me up.

"Chop chop," Alpha Ethan interrupted as he stood up, glancing at his Rolex watch. "I hate to interrupt a family feud but at this point, we have to leave."
