Atlas’s POV

“She did what?” I snap as Aesha’s words tumbled from her mouth. “What were you even doing down there? I told you I wanted you to stay away until I’m sure that the medicine worked.

“Well, whatever it is you are giving her isn’t working. She is turning into something else. She sounded so cruel. So manipulative.”

“Trust me, it’s working, I saw her eralier.”

“You didn’t see her the way I did, Atlas. There was rage in her eyes, she was trying to order me to do something in the same way as you use that weird voice. What if she had? I would have let her out and then who knows what she would have done. I felt safer around Frederick!” She folds her arms over her chest and turns away.

“Safer with Frederick?”

“At least with him, I had a fair idea of what was happening, even if it did turn out to be lies. Here, you tell me nothing.”

“It’s for the best.”

“For the best? I may only be fifteen but you don’t know half the shit I’ve done.” She raises her voice, but her eyes suddenly go wide
