HIS MATE IS THE ACCUSED

CHAPTER ONE.

By default, he is a bold, confident and fearless man. He believes that nothing is impossible to achieve and therefore he goes about taking risks, having positive expectations and achieving success. He knows how to carry himself very well and he is very comfortable in his own skin.

He has a domineering aura hovering around him anywhere he goes.

At the mention of his name, knees are bent to the ground and confessions that have to be made are made. The sound of his voice brings down mountains. It stirs terror in the hearts of his enemies.

He is the Alpha of the Mystic Woodland Pack.

He is the Alpha of all Alphas.

Alpha Hardin Kai Ansaldo.

As his Beta explained to him how the soldiers of the pack were able to chase troublesome rogues that had invaded the pack that morning, Alpha Kai walked over to the transparent glass-wall of his office that gave him a view of the busy streets of the city beneath. He had both hands shoved in his trouser pockets and he was staring down at the busy street while gritting his teeth in anger.

The rogues had once more crossed his territory and he was going to teach them a lesson they would never forget.

“I spoke with the Rogue King after the incident, but he doesn’t seem remorseful for what his subjects did. What do you want me to do to them?” Baldwin, the Beta of the pack asked his Alpha who had not uttered a single word to him since he started talking about their current predicament with the stubborn rogues.

Alpha Kai, after he had had enough, turned to look at the Beta, who swallowed hard and struggled to maintain eye contact with his Alpha.

“He is unapologetic about what happened, you say?” Alpha Kai finally spoke with his baritone voice echoing throughout the room. The Beta calmly nodded his head. “Those pesky abominations. They keep ignoring my warnings and coming to this pack to cause trouble.” Chuckles lightly. “It was about time I…” his words were cut from his mouth by the sound of a harsh knock on the closed door a few meters away from where they were standing. The two men averted their gazes to the door and the knock came through again.

“Should I get the door?” Beta Baldwin asked, looking at his Alpha to get a response and when he gestured with his hand for him to go open it up, he flew over to the door and pushed it open.

“Goodness Alaric, what the hell happened to you? Why are you all bloody?” He questioned in terror and the soldier standing before him, who was all covered in blood and was trembling, fell to the ground with a thud.

“Who’s there?” Alpha Kai asked as he approached the scene. When he got there and saw his almost dead soldier lying helplessly on the ground, covered in blood, he quickly stooped down by the soldier's side and took him into his arms, caring less about his bloody state.

“Tell me Sean, who did this to you?”

“The Diamond Stone Pack. Soldiers of the Diamond Stone Pack attacked us on our way back from the Crescent Moon pack. They…” he started crying. “They killed everyone, including Luna Athena. They only left me alive to come and tell you the news.”

“Did you just say the soldiers of the Diamond Stone Pack attacked you and killed my mother, including all the other soldiers you travelled with?” Alpha Kai’s tone is deadly as he asks that question. The weak soldier calmly nodded his head in agreement to the statement and Alpha Kai closed his eyes. Sean’s body went weak in the Alpha’s arms.

Alaric Sean was dead.

Alpha Kai looked up at his beta who had the most confused and terrified expression on his face.

“I am going to kill them all. Rally thirty soldiers and meet me at the pack border.” He instructed and rose to his feet. He took heavy steps away from the scenario, clenching his fists in anger and trying hard to keep his tears at bay.

He just lost his mother. The only living relative he had left alive and he knew he needed to mourn her, but he couldn’t do that without getting back at the people who had caused her death.

———————————————————————————————————————————

“I want all of them kneeling down before me within the twinkle of an eye!” The aggrieved Alpha Kai scolded in the premises of the Diamond Stone Pack Castle. He had rallied soldiers, including his beta and they had all marched to the Diamond Stone. No one tried to ask them what was going on or stop them because they didn’t have the audacity to do so.

He was the Alpha of all Alphas. He had the right to be in any pack, anytime he wished.

In less than no time, the Alpha and Luna, together with the Beta of the Diamond Stone Pack were dragged out of the castle and thrown to the ground before the murderous looking Alpha who was just minutes away from slaying them all.

“Alpha Kai. Please, what is going on?” The Alpha of the pack, named Zander Angelis, who was a man in his late sixties, asked in total confusion. He had no idea why the Alpha of Alphas was suddenly treating him and his entire family with such brutality.

“You dare try to pretend like you have no idea why I'm here? You dare try to make a fool out of me?” Alpha Kai roared in fury and everyone was shook to the core. The servants and guards of the Diamond Stone Castle were on their knees, trembling and praying to the moon goddess to preserve their lives.

The confused Alpha and Luna were still on their knees, crying and trying to figure out what they had done to offend Alpha Kai to the extent that he was at the verge of ending their lives.

Alpha Clint grew more enraged as he looked at the couple whom he believed were pretending not to know anything about the death of his mother.

He took slow, calculated steps to where they were kneeling and walked around them, his burning gaze not leaving their bodies.

“You sent guards to have my mother and her soldiers killed on their way back from the trip to the Crescent Moon pack just a while ago and here you are, trying to act like you did no such thing.”

“Alpha Kai, I swear on my life, that's a false allegation levied against me and my entire household. I did not send soldiers to kill your mother and soldiers. I do not have the audacity to commit such a barbarous act against you.”

“Silence!” He scolded in anger. His eyes were turning red and he could feel his entire body shaking with rage. He wanted to kill them both that instant, but something was stopping him from doing so. He had no idea what that thing was. “You have the temerity to deny your actions in my face? You have the effrontery to insinuate that I'm lying against you and your entire household?” He sneered, giving both Alpha and Luna murderous glances.

The two old people were sweating out of profound trepidation. They knew they were innocent of the crime they were being accused of, but they had no idea how they were going to prove their innocence to the enraged Alpha who obviously wasn’t ready to listen to anything they had to say.

“Father!” A loud pitched voice called from the gate and everyone turned to see who it was that had gotten into the compound, including Alpha Kai. When his eyes fell on the young girl that was rushing over to her parents, his heart stopped.

He paused on his tracks and the words that were about to come out of his mouth went back into his brain and flew out of his head. His mind was blank at that instant as he watched the most beautiful girl he had ever seen in his life fall to her knees in-front of her parents who were kneeling on the ground.

Kol, his wolf sprinted up in his mind and began sniffing around and immediately, the sweetest smell he had ever perceived in his life hit him hard, almost knocking him off his feet. His heart began racing. All the hair on his body stood erect. The temperature was suddenly very high and he could feel beads of sweat rolling down on almost every part of his skin. He was shook to the core as he looked at the girl who was already in tears on the ground.

The girl gave off a soft, sweet, heady scent that he found to be very appealing. He was fighting his urge to go stoop by her side and sniff her till vanished into thin air.

He took a step forward, towards the girl and the scent became stronger.

“Mate!” The word came out of his mouth before he could even realise himself. Because everyone around had the ability to hear sounds from a very far range, they heard what he just said and averted their gazes to the girl who had just come in. Even the girl heard that and looked up at him with terror in her eyes.

The moment her eyes met with the dark brown eyes of the cruel Alpha standing before her, she could feel a sudden rush of energy surge through her body, causing her to tremble violently on her spot.

The mate bond.

That was the mate bond she just felt. The man standing before her was her mate.

Alpha Kai took quiet and heavy steps towards the almost shivering girl and stopped by her side.

“Don’t you dare come anywhere close to…” before the old man could finish the statement, Alpha Kai shut him up with a heavy smack that sent him flying to the other side of the field.

“Father!” The young girl screamed in agony as she watched father fall hard on the ground and groaned in pain. She quickly shot the man seated before her a deadly glance, anger boiling in her veins.

“Mate!” Alpha Kai muttered the word again, searching the young girl’s face as she kept frowning at him. In less than no time, his heart stopped beating fast, he blocked his wolf who kept urging him to do stupid things to their mate and the anger he felt a while ago came back fresh. He stretched his hands forward and forcibly grabbed the girl's chin and yanked her head up so she could look straight into his eyes that were blazing with fury.

“You.. you are hurting me.” She cried with a shaky voice as she struggled in vain to peel the man's fingers off her chin. Alpha Kai gritted his teeth in anger as he squeezed her chin even harder, causing her to whimper in pain.

“I do not know the kind of trick the moon goddess is playing on me by making you my mate, but I will not accept this. Baldwin!” He called and his Beta immediately came rushing towards him.

“Yes Alpha.”

“Take her to the car. She’s leaving with us.”

“No! No!” The girl screamed in agony as she tried to resist the Beta's grasp, but he was too strong for her.

“Alpha Kai, please don’t take her away. Please.” The girl’s mother pleaded in tears and her father, who was now kneeling before the Alpha, tried to plead with him too, but it seemed his mind had already been made up.

“You killed my mother for absolutely no reason and I came here with the intention of having you all wiped off the face of the earth, but after finding out that your daughter is my mate, I have changed my mind. I will take her to my castle and make her pay for your sins. I’m going to make her life miserable. I am taking your daughter away from you, just like you took my mother away from me. “

“Please Alpha, I am not lying. I had nothing to do with the death of your mother. The soldiers…”

“Silence!” Alpha Kai scolded authoritatively and the entire place went dead silent.

He looked around, from the Alpha to the Luna and then their subjects. He was so mad that he wanted to kill them all, but he decided against it and walked to the car where his mate had been taken.
