3.

Anyone who knew him probably thought that he answered to no one and a few month ago he had strongly believed that too. He was Alexander Rowanni afterall. Alpha leader of the Wan tribe, one of the largest tribes in Moonsville.

Up until this point, his life hadn't exactly been perfect but his life has been his to do whatever he so wished. Till he had been summoned by The council. No one really knew who the members of the council really were. They didn't show their identity to anyone. Not even the Alphas.

Alex younger self was on the calm side during his days in school, though he was popular but he was never the show off noisy kind of guy, his life in school went by fast, he had a lot to do when he took over from his father, he was too young when his parents died so he had to grow up fast for the sake of leadership and holding his family name up.

Presently, he is off age but without a mate, and he refuses to look for one with his many excuses that he makes up because he have never been the relationship kind of guy, he doesn't want to even imagine himself spending his entire live with a one, he doesn't know what it feels like that's why he was carefree about the idea, but his time of laying low is over as he had been called by the council.

The council were the oldest werewolves from several packs which together formed a judge and jury body to checkmate the activities of any werewolf who went out of check. Including an alpha like himself.

The day before, Alex woke up like every other day, it was as normal as ever, unknowingly to him that the day was going to be far than a normal one, he freshened up and went to his office.

"Alex the meeting with the council is today" his beta reminded him

"I almost forgot" he said "they are a pain in my ass lately"

"They just want was right for you" his beta replied

"They don't know what is better for me" Alex stated

"Well, you have no choice" his beta noted

"And that's the painful truth" Alex said

The day went on smoothly until it was time for his meeting, he went into the hall and took a seat to wait for the rest of the council members. When they were all gathered they started the meeting with some issues about other creatures and concluded the meeting with Alex mate's matter, he was reminded again that he wasn't going be able to keep being Alpha for his pack if he can't find his mate, in all of history an Alpha without his mate is not complete and an incomplete alpha is not suitable to be an Alpha, they rang it in his eyes ones again and ended the meeting.

Alex growled inwardly as he remembered his meeting with them. They had been upset that he had assumed his position as an alpha without performing the howl of the red moon ritual. It had been their tradition that before an alpha heir could be made an alpha, he had to be mated and perform this sacred ritual. It was a passage rite from a mere werewolf to a god.

The full moon appeared once every year and he hadn't partaken in any of such ritual due to the fact that he was yet to be mated. But now he had to.

The council had told him that the seat of Alpha would be taken from him and given to any relative of their choosing if he failed to partake in the next red moon howl. The seat had been in his family line for as long as he could remember, for century even. And even though he had no interest in finding a mate, he couldn’t be so selfish as to let go of century long heritage just because of his disinterest.

The meeting was unplanned for, he never wished for it and now he was put in a seat that he had no options to chose from but only the one the elder offered, he hated that he had to bend to their will.

He had Sophia, his girlfriend but the council refused to acknowledge her. To them, he must find his mate made for him by the moon goddess or lose his seat. Mating with who was not ordained by the moon goddess bring misfortune to the pack and only very few knew this, Alex didn't even know. As the world was modernizing, so was the werewolves, so Alex felt nonchalant about getting his mate when he can easily pick someone around.

Caleb and Brian, his cousins had agreed to help him search and somehow their search had led them to this small human town. They went to several packs previously but they never got a feeling of there Luna presence there, one thing about an Alpha and the Luna is that with or without them mating there people will always feel the authority and connection to them, that was what Caleb and Brian were looking for that connection and they found that in a small human town but it will be difficult to place who exactly is emitting that connection to them except the Alpha is present and his wolf will immediately detect the person that's why Alex had to come with them on their search.

They found the town and went back to report to Alex their discovery so that he would ride with them back and they could find their Luna. Although they knew Alex interest was not in it they talked him into joining them back to the town.

"Human. Town?!" Alex said in irritation on hearing what his cousins where explaining.

"It's only there we got a connection, we've gone go every other tribe but felt nothing, on our way back from one of the southern tribes we felt something and it was in that human town" Brain explained to Alex as he watched the disgust in Alex eyes

"There's no harm in checking, you just have to follow us to place the exert person" Caleb added

Alex shook his head in disagreement when Brian suggested they check there.

Later on Alex agreed to follow them to look around the tribes close to the human town, they had been on the road for over 3 days now from one tribe close to town to the other but they found nothing and he didn't want to waste anymore time on this fruitless search, so he decided to all of the search already when they drove abit inside the human town to refill their fuel

"Caleb, you should just drive us back home" Alex said irritated.

"We're almost at the point of finding her bro," Brian said in his southern like drawl.

"We might as well just check here and if still nothing then we head back" he suggested

They had parked at a fueling station just by the entrance of the town. They had stopped to refuel the car and refuel their bellies. They had bought snacks at the minimart in the fueling station but Alex wasn't hungry. Caleb hadn't said a word since they got there, just quietly drinking his soda. He was always like that. He didn't speak unless he was spoken to. Alex was a little like that too but as the Alpha he had to speak even when he didn't want to.

Brian turned to Caleb now. "Come on Caleb say something to him"

Caleb shrugged his shoulders and kept looking outside the car window, drinking his soda. Brian punched his shoulder but jokingly.

"Fine!" He said to Alex finally. "You don't have to go but we'll still go without you." Brian was already getting out of the car before he finished talking. Caleb followed suite, stretching once he got out of the car.

"Finding the Luna shouldn't be so hard, right?" Caleb asked flashing his trademark dimples at his companions. They knew he was being sarcastic. How exactly was searching for a pin in a hay sack supposed to be easy.

"Ha ha Caleb" Brian answered dryly "we'll meet you once we're done searching this town Alpha"

Alex only nodded once and with that his cousins left.

Caleb and Brian ran off into the town to look for a deep connection and the more the passed through the forest by the town the more the connection grew, they were very sure that their Luna is in the town by now, but what they were not sure of is why a human town?, They stopped at a house very close to the forest but the front of the house was a busy town road, while the back was the calm forest. The connection was on a high ground there.

Alex was bored out of his mind as he watched the minimart manager close for the day. It was already evening and the manager was definitely not expecting anymore customers bu this time. Alex thought about how the store sign read 24HRS but that was clearly not true.

He got down from the car. He doubted that there was any pure breed werewolf fit to be his Luna living in the human town. He scoffed to himself at the very idea but as soon as he walked into the town to the busy streets like the rest of the humans, they walked passed him ignorant of the fact the he was a werewolf, he felt irritated by them because they were to lowly and weak compare to his kind. Just as he walk on a bit further his wolf whispered "mate!"
