One Week (7)

Anticipation has been rising over the next few days. Halsey notices that Nathan is staying out late a lot. He leaves really early in the morning and returns late which is worrying her.

What’s he up to? She wonders.

Nathan is tight lipped about his plans. The drug deal is going to take place the next night and he’s been in constant communication with Damien about it. Jamie has also been giving him tabs on Lincoln. Nathan wanted to tell Halsey about the accident but ultimately decided against it. Lincoln was discharged the day after the accident, setting Nathan’s plan in motion.

“He’s seeing the psychiatrist I’ve recommended,” Jamie says one morning. She’s in his office at the hotel, reporting Lincoln’s activities to Nathan. “There’s been some interesting development.”

“What is it?” Nathan frowns. Jamie takes out a file and puts it in front of him.

“He’s suffering from an advanced stage of encephalitis,” Jamie says.

“What the hell is that?”

“It’s an inflammation of the brain. When th
