Chapter 56

Amanda's POV

When I approached my house, the light was still on. I frowned, glancing at the digital clock on my phone. It read 3:15am. Who on earth would still be awake at this hour?

I walked closer, my damp jeans and shirt already too soiled from the scruffle just an hour ago. My hair was all tangled up, frizzy at the edges. I really need to get cleaned up, I thought to myself.

I reached out for my keys but suddenly there were footsteps approaching closer and I heard the familiar unlocking of the front door. There stood Liz, looking as pale as a ghost, staring at me at first as though seeing me for the first time. Then, a flash of relief crossed her face before she crossed her arms and a frown creased her forehead.
