Silas’ pov

Chloe stared at me after she finished reading the letter. The entire room smelled of rage.

The kind that burned so hot it twisted someone from the inside out. Broken glass crunched beneath my shoes as I dodged a bit.

Her chest rose and fell violently. “You knew.”

Her voice came out low at first. Dangerously low.

I took the letter from her hands and folded it neatly before placing it onto the nearby table.

“Knew what? The fact that your mother is dead?”

I could barely stop myself from

Cayden's POVSarah fell to the floor, her hands on her neck.It seemed like she did not expect that I would go that far.Actually, I didn't expect that I would go that far as well, but no one… absolutely no one was allowed to harm Carmen.“Cayden, are you mad? You are going to go this far for a woman…a woman!”“What about you? You were willing to go that far for a man; I am just returning the favor.” “Cayden, think again. I am Sarah Voss, if I die, do you think your life would be easy?”“Do you know what sort of war my death would set off?” Sarah screamed at me.“Yes,” I nodded. “Your death would just make the inevitable war wage faster than its appointed time, that's all actually.”“Sarah, you are not some special prize to claim, your father would sacrifice you in a heartbeat when it becomes favourable for him”“So listen to me, give me the antidote, and we can still maintain this false sense of peace.”“If you still want revenge, you can come at me. I would take you on with everyth

Cayden's POV“Carmen, Carmen.” 'I could barely think straight. The heat coming from her fragile body terrified me to no end.''I hated this. I hated this a lot.'After I promised to protect her, the thought that something so terrible would happen to her under my watch shook me to the core.“She's going to be alright.” Silver got to the nearest room and opened the door.“You have to go out, people are getting suspicious.” Silver shut the door and said to me.“Go out.” I looked at Silver with bloodshot eyes. “I am not going anywhere.”“Carmen is burning up, and red dots are appearing on her arm. I cannot go anywhere.”“Listen to me.” Silver glared at me. “You organized a masked party for this very reason. We did know someone was going to play a funny joke on all of us, so get your act together.”“Yes, but not Carmen.” I shot back. “When I did my calculations, I never wanted Carmen to get involved in any of it! that's why I even got her a mask that concealed her aura entirely.”“Woman

Cayden's povCarmen, as always, looked so beautiful. So beautiful that I had this thought to just lock her away, only for my pleasure.Silver, that crazy old man must have noticed my lingering gaze on Carmen and he teased me again. The only thing I could do was give him a fierce look before I walked off.My family were right on sight. The theme for the party was the masked ball. The masked ball, similar to the human hongmen banquet, was basically a party of death.Drunk on wine and dead as can be the very next second, that was the appeal. The ball started and as I expected, the old man immediately rushed towards me with smiles and all.It was ridiculous to think that in such an environment with so many smiles, a lot of people would wish for nothing more than to end the life of the person next to them. The masked party was a place to let such emotions run free, it was a trial with absolutely no consequences, and that was why it was masked.Of course, some people considered themselves a

Carmen's pov‘Does she recognize me?’The thought crossed my mind as I graced through the pain.I was not exactly afraid of her finding out about me, the only thing I was troubled about was that I was in her home territory. The dirty tricks she could play would be deadly.“Stay away from my man or I will end you.” Sarah leaned over to me and whispered. My first thought was relief, so she did not know who I was.As always she was just an insecure pampered heiress. The second thought was disdain. Some time ago, she was practically forcing herself on Cayden and now, Clyde was her man. What a fickle person.“That's enough.” Clyde awkwardly cut in between us. “You guys are matching, it's a rare feast for the eyes.”His words did serve as a good distraction because Sarah's eyes roamed all over me. Her gaze was prickly and filled with barely concealed hatred.Ohh! Bad luck.I shivered inwardly, that was the last thing I wanted, to have on not only the same colour but exactly the same dress a

Carmen's povI was right at the nightshade pack again. This time, I was standing behind Cayden proudly.I still had on a purple dress, it was basically my signature look at this point.“Oh my gosh, you look beautiful.” Silver complemented me.He was disguised as an old serving maid beside me.“Seriously, you can stop saying that.” I playfully shoved Silver aside.Since this morning, he had been repeating that phrase to get on Cayden's nerves and it successfully worked all the time.Although I had to say, I had no idea why Cayden had an explosive reaction to that phrase. ‘Was I not beautiful?’ “Behave.” As expected, Cayden rolled his eyes at Silver before he walked forward to the first seat. His family members were already seated in order of seniority and his father, the Alpha, still sat at the head of the table.“Please.” Cayden stood in front of his father. “You have to vacate my position.” “Impudent.” A loud bang echoed, Cayden's first brother, I actually had forgotten his name sh

Silas' povLana has always been one to throw the hell of a feast. That night, we had a feast, the moonlight only made it more sacred and entertaining. The freshly brewed wine tasted like wax in my mouth. I just kept mindlessly chugging it down as I looked at my people. These were the people that previously bowed down to me,now they coin not even be bothered to acknowledge me.The elders all ignored me totally, going over to Lana to fawn on her.Anger and the alcohol messed with my rationality. Before I knew it, my steps had carried me to Chloe's quarters.No.I dragged my feet at the door, I had promised myself to try and be faithful to Carmen.I could not do this to her.“Whatever,” I brushed aside that voice of reason in my heart.Carmen was out there with Cayden, forgetting that she was married to me.For all I knew, she had already betrayed me, what's the use of clinging to her?I was an alpha, as my Luna she should understand that I could not live without many women. That was par
