Chapter 003

Miguel Ice's P.O.V

"Maaaa!" I called.

"Wait a minute. Here I am! Don't be hurry! You have long hours still. Besides, your going to take a bus going there." mom answered and was also confused.

"This is my first job interview, mom. I don't want to be late, and one more thing, I want to have a job so you don't have to work in the market. I will be the one who will, provides for both of us," I explained to my mom.

"My son, don't put pressure on yourself. If a job is for you, it will be for you." she rubbed my face and hair.

"I'm fine; I'm not a baby anymore, mom," I replied to him.

"This is for lunch; this is your snack. If you're going to spend the night there, this is extra money for dinner; don't go hungry, huh? Call me if it's not enough and you need something."

"Yeah, I know, mom. You told me this seven times?, so don't worry," I replied to mom.

"And one more thing, don't worry too much about what I'll call every hour; rest here at home while I'm gone." I said to her.

I left the house with a smile on my lips. Mom is beautiful with her smile today. I will do everything to make it up to her, and I will be the one to provide for both of us. I will give the best life to him. My mother and i are so excited for my first Job.

I have arrived here at the mall where I will apply.

"Interview for salesman supervisor," I said to the front desk.

"I am sorry, sir. Did you not receive our text message that we canceled your appointment with Ms. Jen? We moved it to tomorrow." The front desk answered.

"Ah, is that so? I haven't received anything; is it really not possible today? Even if I wait until later, I won't be able to come back if it's tomorrow." I begged the receptionist.

"I am sorry, but I try my best to message Ms. Jhen," he answered.

I just waited for almost an hour for this interview.

I texted my mom, saying that there's so many applicants, so I can't go home yet because it's not my turn yet.

I don't want to tell the truth and have her worry about me.

A woman rushes in, followed by another woman.

"That can be moved to tomorrow," shouted the caught woman.

"If we inform late, it's our fault; we disturbed the person, and then we'll cancel it. It's quick, and we'll get back there." He calmed down his companion.

"Tsk," he answered flatly.

"We are the ones who bother the person." I still see when she is talking to the other person.

"Whatever. I'm going to rest in the room first. You'll take care of it there," said a straight woman.

"Let him go inside the office. I'll just retouch first," she said hurriedly.

"Sir, come with me." The receptionist imitated me.

I sat in the seat she told me. She came and interviewed me.

She asked me for patience, and she oriented me on the things to do and my jobs.

I didn't say anything; I just nodded.

"Start tomorrow if possible?" she asked me again.

"Hmm, I'm sorry. Can it be done the next day? I still need to find a house for my mother, and I can live near here. It's difficult for us to travel from here to there, and I can't live far away from her either.," I said nicely.

"We have three staff houses on the rooftop; you can use one room. It's clean there; you can bring your mom," she answered.

I'm so happy to hear this, but it's embarrassing. I didn't want to abuse them, so I wanted to reject her when she spoke again.

"Don't worry, it's free, and if you're worried about your mom, she can cook food for the staff and clean the entire building. You won't be assigned here at the mall if not at the building boutique. It's a two-story house. The staff house is upstairs; don't refuse because there will be people in the whole building. You can go now and pick up your mom; we'll see you tomorrow. My staff called you for the address. Thank you and sorry again." She stood up and walked again.

I stood up and bowed in respect to her.

I went out and thanked the receptionist.

I am Ice,

Yes, Mama's boy.

Mom is the only one I have. She is the only one who raised me. Even though we moved from house to house, mom never lost her job. She is very strategic; she knows almost all jobs, whether it's a man's job or a woman's job. She also built our house. Because we have never lived in a rock-hard house, our house is only made of wood and planks. It's clean and quiet, so I can study quietly, and we can both relax.

I don't want everything to change with Mama and me, so no matter where I am, Mama should be there too.

I texted Mom that I'm on my way home.

But unexpectedly, I saw a person who I know is the reason why we moved away and moved from house to house.

I was having second thoughts about whether I should continue with all my plans for Mama and me in this place.

There are probably many other jobs that can be done for me that are far from this place.

But I told mom that I was accepted. Shall I tell her that he is here? I know she will be worried. She will also wonder why I won't accept it. I am sure of that.
