"Meriam! You live there? I thought you ended up at home and at your resthouse?" I asked the woman next to me in the unit.

So, he's the one who complains about me doing the work and the noise that he should be making himself.

"Is that a question or an accusation of something?" he asked me.

"I don't know why you have to complain about the noise instead of soundproofing the unit," was all I could say.

I do not want to fight. I don't want trouble, especially here in the condo where I stayed. I don't want to create a scandal just because of something that should have a solution.

"Because I don't want to," he answered simply.

Our conversation was going nowhere, so I just turned around and went to my unit.

"Don't rush everything; go home after 8 hours of work, and don't let people in at night. All of you will come in in the morning until 5 p.m. Thank you," I said to the foreman in front of their engineer.

The person I was talking to nodded and said yes, then I left the building.
