“Are you sure about this?” Evelyn asked nervously again as they walked toward the door of the ballroom where the event was being held. Her voice was soft, almost trembling, her eyes darting nervously around.

“I already told you that it’s okay,” Emily answered with a calm smile, her tone light, trying to assure her. She wanted Evelyn to feel comfortable.

They had already changed into dinner wear in the hotel room she reserved nearby since the villa was far. Only staff of the company and business associates with invitation cards were allowed into the event. But rules didn’t matter, She was the wife of the chairman of the company.

“I’m nervous,” Evelyn whispered again, clenching her hands tight to control the tremble.

Emily stopped on her steps, her eyes fixed on her sister’s face with worry. “Evelyn ”

“I’m not nervous from what you think,” Evelyn said quickly, noticing the way Emily was watching her. “I’m just nervous because this is my first time of coming to this kind of big event.” S

The morning light filtered softly into the villa, spilling across the polished floor and brushing against the curtains. The room was quiet, warm, filled with the gentle rhythm of two hearts that had found each other. Denovon stirred awake, his arm instinctively reaching for Emily. She lay beside him, already awake, watching him with a quiet smile that made his chest tighten.Tomorrow was their wedding. The thought alone carried weight, excitement, and a strange kind of fear that came with such happiness. “You’re awake early,” Denovon murmured, his voice low and heavy from sleep, yet warm as it wrapped around her like a blanket.Emily smiled faintly, her eyes glowing. “I couldn’t sleep longer. Tomorrow is… everything.”His lips curved into a small smile, though his gaze lingered on her longer than usual, as though he wanted to carve the sight of her into his memory. He leaned forward, brushing a tender kiss across her forehead. “Tomorrow is only the beginning.”Tears threatened to ri

The room was dim, the curtains drawn tight so no light from outside could slip in. A small lamp on the table gave off a weak glow, throwing long shadows across the walls. The air was heavy, stale, and thick with secrets no one outside these walls could imagine. An old man sat in a wooden chair, leaning heavily on his cane. His back was bent with age, but his eyes were sharp and cold, filled with hatred that had burned for many years. His face was wrinkled, his lips pressed tightly together, and every movement he made carried the weight of anger that refused to die.Across from him stood a young man, tall and restless. His fists were clenched at his sides, his chest rising and falling quickly as though he was too eager to sit still. His eyes burned with the same hatred as the old man’s, and his jaw was tight as if he were ready to bite through steel. The old man broke the silence with a voice that cut through the air like a knife.“Tell me,” he asked, his tone deep and commanding. “Did

Leo pushed the heavy office door open without knocking, his footsteps carrying the lazy confidence of a man who rarely took anything seriously. But his face told another story. His brows were drawn together, his jaw clenched tightly. His whole expression burned with anger as he walked in and sat down opposite Denovon.“What’s up, man,” Leo greeted, but the frown stayed carved on his face.Denovon raised his head, observing him quietly. He noticed the unusual tension in Leo’s eyes. “What’s wrong? It didn’t go well?” he asked in a calm voice, though curiosity sharpened his tone.Leo hissed loudly, the sound sharp with annoyance. His veins stood out on his forehead, showing just how angry he really was. “You won’t believe this. She kept me waiting for more than an hour,” he spat out, rubbing his forehead as if the memory alone was giving him a headache.“For real?” Denovon asked, letting out a laugh as he looked at Leo. His friend’s irritation was as clear as day, and it amused him.“Yes

“Sir, here is another package sent,” George said as soon as he stepped into Denovon’s office, his face tight and cold. He looked angry....angry at the package, angry at the audacity of whoever had sent it.Denovon slowly lifted his head from his laptop, his sharp eyes narrowing as a frown crept across his face. “From the same sender?” he asked in his calm but deep voice.“Yes, sir,” George replied, his tone clipped.Denovon leaned back in his chair, his lips curving into a faint, dangerous smirk. “Open it. Let’s see what it is this time.” His voice carried an edge of amusement, though there was nothing funny in his eyes. Whoever was sending these packages, whoever thought they could play this game with him...He silently promised it would not end well for them. For the past few days, strange packages had been delivered one after the other. Threatening messages wrapped up like gifts. Denovon hadn’t cared much at first. To him, it was like a buzzing fly circling around...annoying but not

  • The Beautiful Wife Of Mr Rowland    Chapter 135

The ride home was quiet. Too quiet. The kind of silence that pressed on Evelyn’s chest and made it hard for her to breathe. The coldness in the air wrapped around her like chains, each second making her more nervous than the last. It wasn’t like the other times she had been with George, when even silence had felt safe. Tonight, it felt heavy and frightening.George hadn’t spoken a word since they walked out of the restaurant. He simply kept his eyes on the road, his expression unreadable. Evelyn kept her head lowered, her fingers twisting nervously in her lap. She didn’t dare lift her gaze to see his face. She was terrified of what she might find there...anger, disappointment, disgust. Her heart thudded painfully in her chest, and the man’s words from earlier kept echoing inside her head. Murder. Hired. Guilty. Each word was sharp, cutting through her fragile peace like a knife. She had been trying so hard to rebuild her life, to start fresh, to live quietly without the shadow of her

The sun had gone down, and the city breeze was cool and refreshing. Evelyn stepped out of the therapy clinic, drawing in a deep breath as if she could soak the peace of the evening into her chest. Life lately had been nothing but refreshing, just like the air around her.She adjusted her bag, ready to walk toward the nearby bus stop. She had been suspended from driving, and though Emily had offered to get her a driver, Evelyn had refused. She wanted to stand on her own feet again, even if it meant simple things like taking a bus.Just as she took her first step, the sound of a car horn startled her. She turned quickly and her eyes widen.George’s car was parked in front of the clinic. His steady eyes were on her, a small smile tugging at his lips.“Won’t you get in?” he asked calmly. There was a trace of amusement in his voice, as though her shock entertained him. Is it really that surprising to see me here? he wondered silently.“Oh…” Evelyn breathed out, snapping out of her stillne
