ALESSA’S POV

A knock came just as Disha and I were deep in one of our early morning talks, the kind that always slipped between seriousness and nonsense, laughter and secrets.

“Come in,” I called without thinking, smoothing the edge of my blanket.

The door opened, and Michael strolled inside with the kind of ease that had become familiar. A year ago, I would have bristled at the intrusion, felt the boundary crossed. But now… now it felt oddly right, as if even my room had accepted him.

“Good morning,” he greeted, his voice warm, steady, carrying that calm confidence he never seemed to misplace.

“Good morning,” I echoed, exchanging a quick glance with Disha before turning back to him.

His eyes lingered on mine longer than usual, and then he said it, so casually it startled me:

“Get dressed. I’m taking you somewhere.”

I blinked. “Somewhere?”

He only nodded, the faintest curve tugging at his lips.

“What do you mean somewhere? Is it…” I faltered, the words tumbling out before I could sto

ALESSA’S POVThe skyscraper loomed before me, a monument of glass and steel piercing the heavens, my name blazing across its crown in bold, golden light. The Harter Collection. My brand. My legacy. My dream that had once lived only as a whisper in my heart, now standing tall enough to kiss the sky.And yet, as I stood there clutching Michael’s hand, trembling, I felt so impossibly small. The ring glittered on my finger, its weight still new, anchoring me to this reality that felt too vast to belong to me. The proposal, the kiss, the promise, it all swirled inside me like a storm of light, I had fallen in love with this man all over again. And now this tower, my tower rose in front of me, daring me to step inside and claim what I never thought I could.Michael’s thumb brushed my knuckles, steady, grounding, coaxing me to breathe. His eyes softened as he leaned closer, whispering, “It’s time, my queen.”His queen. His words struck me again, fierce and gentle, burning through my chest.

ALESSA'S POV When Michael slipped the ring onto my finger, the world did not just change. It exploded into light, into something too vast and too dazzling to belong to reality. The word yes had barely left my lips before my body began trembling, laughter and tears spilling over me in unstoppable waves. I clung to him as though letting go might cause it all to vanish, burying my face against his chest, breathing in the solid warmth of him, the clean scent of his suit, the steadiness that had always been him.My heartbeat thundered against his, wild and unsteady, yet perfectly at home, as though it had always belonged there.Perhaps that love I had carried for him back in our high school days had never truly died. Perhaps I had only buried it, trying to disguise it with denial, convincing myself it was just a memory. Yet here it was, blooming so fiercely that I could no longer contain it.Michael pressed a kiss to the top of my head, whispering words I barely caught, words that poured

MICHAEL'S POV I had rehearsed this moment in my head a thousand times.Every word, every detail, every way her eyes might widen when she saw the rooftop, the candles, the music. I wanted it to be perfect. No, more than perfect. I wanted it to be unforgettable, something that would bury every bitter memory I had ever given her, something that would say without words: this time, I choose you, completely. That morning, when I walked into her room, my face was calm, my voice steady, but inside? My chest was raging. Alessa was sitting with Disha, laughter still clinging to her lips, and when her eyes found mine, I almost forgot the lines I had prepared. Almost.I couldn’t let her see. Couldn’t let her suspect. So I played it cool, careful, precise.“Get dressed. I’m taking you somewhere,” I said. The words came out smoother than I felt. My palms were damp, but my tone was calm, clipped, as though it were the most ordinary thing. When she asked somewhere? and pressed for answers, my lips

MICHAEL’S POVI had fallen in love with her.The realization struck me in quiet moments, when no one was around to hear the admission but me. I whispered it sometimes, as though testing how the words tasted in my mouth. I love her.Even now, saying it felt absurd. If someone had told me a year ago, I would have laughed. If they had told me seven years ago, when I humiliated her in front of the world, I would have thought them mad. I still remembered that day with agonizing clarity: her trembling voice, her eyes bright with sincerity, and my response, cutting, cruel, dismissive. I had left her broken before a watching crowd, and I had walked away proud of myself. How cruel I had been. And now, the cruelest irony of all was that I had become the fool. I loved her completely, achingly, helplessly. But why?I turned the question over and over in my mind. Was it pity, born from the weight of her father’s death? Was it regret for the way I once treated her? I had begged her forgiveness, ye

  • The Billionaire Broken Bride—Married To My Enemy.   CHAPTER 76: Tender Routine.

ALESSA’S POVIt had been several months since Caleb’s arrest. The chaos, the tension, the grief, they were all receding, leaving behind quiet spaces that felt both strange and full. Each morning, the city seemed a little less oppressive, the air a little easier to breathe. Natasha was slowly finding herself again, and I couldn’t help but feel a quiet relief.I never really knew Nina the way Michael or Natasha did. Neither did Disha. Yet seeing Natasha reclaim her life, her laughter returning like sunlight spilling over winter streets, made my chest feel lighter. Watching her fingers brush over piano keys, her voice threading through the studio, felt like witnessing a spark flicker back to life after months in shadow. We began spending more time together. Cafés bathed in sunlight, the city glittering beyond glass walls. Late-night drives with her songs spilling from the speakers, drifting like silk through the car as the streetlights painted patterns on our faces.Laughter tumbled f
