Chapter 79: Stubbornness

Up to this moment, Jack had been awake for two weeks. He still couldn't believe that Emily had forgiven him for everything he had done. He wondered if this was a long dream, afraid that when he woke up, she would push him away, disgusted by what he had done to her.

There was nothing to worry about when Jack was discharged from the hospital and went home to rest. He heard the sounds of the house staff, and when he went downstairs, he saw chaos in the kitchen. Emily was trying to bake, but it seemed that baking was not her strong suit. The housekeeper advised her to go outside. If it weren't for something important, he would have let her do whatever she wanted, but the housekeeper said she was injured and needed some ointment. Her stubbornness didn't make him say much; he just carried her upstairs.

Jack brought a basin of water and a towel, wringing it out and gently wiping Emily's face. He was clearly angry, but he didn't say anything to blame her.
