I changed into a pair of shorts and a sleeveless top when we returned home. What Declan had done tonight caused emotions to catch up in my throat. I couldn’t understand why he was doing all of that for me, but I was grateful for everything he had done.

I heard a knock on my door, and I knew it was Declan. There was nobody but us in the house.

“Come in,” I called out, tying my hair in a high ponytail.
