CHAPTER 4: HER TWIN BABIES

• Five Years Later

Melody's Point of View.

"Mommy! Brother Lexus, break my toy!”

"No, Mom! He broke my book first!”

I immediately looked at my twin children. I put down the ladle and turned off the gas stove. I quickly went to the living room and caught up with the two looking at each other.

"What happened? Why are you two fighting again?” I asked, then felt my senses.

"He broke my new toy, Mommy!" Liven said it as if he could cry.

Lexus fixed the glasses. "He broke my book, Mom!"

I held my breath. Seriously, I can't stand the stubbornness of these two. I stepped between them and held out my hand. They immediately put down their broken things.

Well, they know the drill.

"Brother Lexus, why did you break Liven's toy?"

I'm looking at Lexus now.

"Because he broke my book, Mom."

I looked at Liven.

"Liven, why did you break Kuya Lexus's toy?"

Liven couldn't speak and just bowed.

"Because I didn't make his toy. He makes me, Mommy, fix the Rubik's cube he's playing with—but I'm busy reading my favorite book!”

"Is that right, Liven?"

He nodded, then wiped away his tears. I couldn't even hear him sobbing, but I knew the tears were flowing continuously. I embraced him, as did Lexus.

"How many times do I have to say that you should work together? I understand that book is your favorite, Brother Lexus, but there are times when you should assist your brother when you become aware that he is in need. As for you, Liven, don't rush what you're doing. Did destroying your brother's book help? No, it's not, right?" Both the twins nodded.

Of these two children of mine, Liven is weak but loud, has shallow tears, and is emotional. Lexus is quiet, serious, and seems to have its own world.

"I'm sorry, Brother Lexus. I'm sorry, Mommy.” Liven said.

"I'm also sorry, Liven, because I couldn't help you. But don't worry, I can fix your Rubik's cube. I'm sorry too, Mom."

"That's great, Kuya Lexus! Don't worry, I will save up to buy your new book!” Liven's response was to smile.

The twins hugged, and I couldn't help but smile because of what I was seeing. I am sure they are good people. I am very happy because, despite the hardships and pain I went through, God still gave me a reason to continue in life.

"Oh, hey, breakfast is ready; eat now." I said, smiling.

Liven immediately ran towards the table. I was about to stand up when Lexus grabbed my hand. I looked at it for a moment, then adjusted my seat. I know he wants to say something.

"Mom, I know that you didn't want to talk about our dad. But I think it might be easier for us if he was with us. You know the balance? Where is he? You always say that perhaps he will visit us on one of our birthdays, but Mom, five years has passed. Is he still alive?”

I froze in my place while staring into Lexus' mournful eyes. I forgot that he and Liven have a higher IQ and understanding.

The memory of that night came back to me. That stranger and I shared the cold night all night long. Or maybe it's just a figment of my imagination that he is a muscular man. Maybe it was that old man who bought me the one I was with.

But I will not let my children know about my past. I don't want to hurt them. I don't want them to criticize me like Melvon did to me.

"Of course, Lexus—your dad is still alive. Even though I know you can understand, I still can't just explain everything to you. Give Mommy time, okay?”

"Okay, Mom. I love you.”

"I love you too, son."

We went to the living room together and ate. After a while, Yaya Gina and Ramon, who was the children's driver, took them to school.

"The twins are really handsome! We met before leaving."

I looked at Yassh, who had just arrived. As usual, it comes with gifts. I immediately smiled and hugged it.

I remember what happened five years ago. After I freed Daddy, Yassh came to me, and with him was Marco—the one who bought him. They helped us start again, so I owe everything to both of them.

Two months later, it was only then that I noticed the sudden growth of my hips, followed by things I didn't do or want to eat. Yassh pushed me to take a pregnancy test.

My world stopped spinning for a moment at that time. I don't know what to do or how to explain everything to Daddy. So I lied. I said I don't know the father of my children because it happened after I was drunk.

"Oh, why aren't you with Yvone?" I ask.

"Oh my, she's there with his handsome father and that sly girl!" It's sharp, as if it just came from the war.

I smiled slightly and shook my head. Between Yassh and Marco, it is not good. They had a child, but they didn't live together because Marco was engaged to another woman.

"Gosh, you're jealous!" I'm teasing.

"Hell no! No way! As long as my daughter comes home to me, we won't have any problems."

I sat on the sofa.

“Speaking of my sons. Lexus confronted me and asked me again about their father.” I bowed and said it sadly.

Yassh also became serious.

"Oh, what did you say?"

I shook my head. "I lied again, but I said their dad is still alive, so they shouldn't worry."

"Is it still alive? Well, we don't know if Mr. Buenavista is the father or whoever you say has a strong body.”

"I do not know. The twins are smart, so I can't lie too much either. You know that, because even you don't understand them sometimes."

"Oh, true! Especially Lexus! I was asked about the system of caterpillars inside their house. Oh gosh, it's shocking! What do I have to do with caterpillars?”

We both laughed and continued to talk about our children.

The next day, Melody went to their company early. She was happy to see it continue to flourish again. She and his dad prepared and strengthened it to reestablish it. They won't let it just fall again like it did before.

She became a man-hater, she thought. She has no one else to trust except her father and the twins.

"Why did you summon me, Daddy?"

After James, his secretary, handed him a folder to sign, the elderly man looked up. Melody sat in the chair in front of it.

"I have sad news. I know next week is your birthday. But I have a big person to meet that same day." His voice is sad.

"Hey, don't worry, Dad. I don't care if we don't make it through the week. There are many other days, right?"

“My grandchildren will be sad. I don't want them to tell us to hope. I want to do my best for them. Our celebration will continue, but I may only be there for a while.”

“Dad, they will understand."

"No, Melody. Children think differently; they get angry easily. Isn't that why you still haven't forgiven your mommy?"

She smirked. "Daddy, in Mom's case, the situation is different, because ultimately, when it comes to apologizing, she can't say it because until now she hasn't shown up!"

"For me, it's just the same."

They are both just silent.

"Why don't you want to get married? I hope I don't have any problems every time my grandchildren have a family day at school. I still don't want their feelings to be hurt every time there is no father standing up for them." It seems like he's dramatizing again.

Melody suddenly gasped in the air because it was her dad who insisted on marrying someone. It's not that she doesn't want to get married or have a complete family. Actually, that was her dream—the whole family—but she just couldn't forget the first man who claimed her.

He knew he should forget everything, but how could he do that if it resulted in the deaths of his two beautiful twin children? And another thing is that she is tired and afraid to trust men anymore.

"Dad, are we here again?"

"Don't complain. You know you won't win." Her father laughed and shook his head.

"Okay, Dad, I have no other complaints. Where are we this week?”

"I have already made a reservation at the Luxerio Hotel and Restaurant."

Luxerio? Why does it seem familiar?
