THREE MONTHS

When Howard left the office, Nicholas and I were staring at each other. There's an awkward silence surrounding the whole place because of that. I held the folder while standing in front of him. He gave me a cold expression and asked, "Why are you here?"

I put down the folder on his table and looked at him. "Bringing you back this thing. I don't need that," I replied.

He smiled in disbelief after what I told him. He opened the folder and saw the cheque attached to it.

"I think giving me the last money for the company would be enough to tell me that all these things between us are done. There's no need to humiliate me by giving me more money to end our personal agendas. If you really want to end it, I won't force you to continue it! But, you don't have to give me money because I personally chose that path, and no one forced me to do it. So, I'm giving that money back because I don't need that in the first place," I said while sincerely looking at him.
