Her arrogant boss

(Vivienne)

I never thought a day like this could come so soon. For the past three years, I anticipated meeting the man again but I wasn't certain I'd do that now I had to meet the man face to face

"Oh no how...why that fool"I didn't have to say why me but currently I was in some dilemma. So dramatic as I made my way to the door. I already reached the filth floor and Victor's office was just away from me. My knees had gone weak and my legs felt like they weren't mine

"Okay Vivienne you can do this...just ignore him and whatever you do...don't look him in the eyes, "I told myself patting my chest for comfort but who was I kidding when I was doomed however I reached his door and stood there guessing and contemplating on what the man was doing in there. I reached out my hand to knock and when I did.

I retreated, fisting it tightly as a cold sweat broke on my forehead. I waited hoping to get a reply but there was none. I failed to understand what was happening but when I was about to knock again the door opened startling me to my relief, it wasn't Victor but someone I knew. I stepped away since I was blocking his way and Jason smiled at me

"Welcome Ms...long time," he said, still smiling at me and I nodded lightly and bowed, not sure how to react to him. We never talked in the past since he was always so serious about his work but I could tell he hasn't changed much

"Thanks...Jason, how have "I said, trying to peek inside the office and like he saw through my actions. Jason gave a half-smile and walked right passed

"Very well madam, please proceed in...sir is waiting," he said gesturing with his hands for me to go in. I looked at him and took a long inhale of fresh air, and strode inside and the door closed behind me. The glorious room greeted me. The familiar lavender scent hit my nose causing me to smile a little but I stopped when my eyes shifted towards the desk area but Victor wasn't there. I walked a little more forward and soon stopped when I saw the man sitting in the lounge area. His back was turned to me and I was thankful for that. I glanced at myself just to make sure I wasn't looking out of place

"I hate waiting, get the files from my desk and come here" the man said in a cold sharp deep voice which stunned me. He knew I was there but pretended not to notice. I shook my head and walked up to his desk climbing a few stairs that led up. I had to say his office was rather the same although it looked quite different. There was a coffee maker somewhere. A wine cellar as well as a small bookshelf with some files stacked up.

My eyes were on the wine. I hesitated about taking the files, recalling the night we made a deal. He didn't have to take any alcoholic beverages but those lines were over. I guess he was back to his drinking habits. I felt a little sad as I took the five to six files on the desk and walked back to him

"Here sir", I said in a low voice and remained standing behind him. I didn't want to look at him and after a while of waiting for him to say something

"I expect good manners from a top student...if you are here it means you are the best but with such ill manners I won't tolerate"the man surprised me when he lashed out and said bitterly. I didn't understand a thing he said nor the reason for his outburst. I was hesitant to say anything but when he leaned forward and put his laptop on the table and slowly made his way up. I lowered my head a little and soon the man was on his feet. I looked up and he was busy folding his shirt sleeves up to his elbows. His moves are flawless and scary

"Make me a cup of coffee," he said looking at me with a blank expression...I glanced back to the coffee machine and then back to him. What was he trying to do

"Sir I can't make coffee" I simply said, shaking my head. He was trying to bully me. Right there and then he was talking as if we were strangers. His voice was cold and distant for a second. I saw a different Victor but I didn't mind at all. I came here to work not to rekindle an old romance that didn't exist between us

"I see...so then why are you here...I hate rude girls like you and if you don't know how to do it...then get out of my face!" he said through gritted teeth as he made his way to where I was. His eyes were so cold and sharp that I swore I had never seen him so aloof before. He stopped right before me. We were standing apart from each other the string that once formed between us was visible enough

"My apologies sir but I can't force myself to make coffee when I don't know how to"I lashed out a little although I tried, by all means, to sound professional. He was getting on my nerves by trying to walk all over me. I didn't come here to get bullied even if he was my boss. He had to show me some respect at least that was necessary

"Then learn it and don't cross me...move it!" he snarled, scaring me a little so that I stopped for a while and looked at him. He had his eyes on me. He was tall and towered over my small form but even so, I didn't get intimidated by him, his broad shoulders looked rippled even through the shirt he was wearing. His chest hard and muscular

"Don't let old emotions affect my work here...I didn't…"I said, biting back the feeling rising in my chest. I wanted to say so many things but I held myself from doing that but my clenched hand said it all. I was angry and disappointed in him but I had no right to be angry. "I'll make coffee" I simply said and shoved the files in his hands and walked away heading to the coffee machine. If this was what was going to be happening then so be it

There was no need to make coffee when it was already there, the man was being so grumpy even grumpier than before. I poured him some brewing hot coffee and it smelled delightful. He was a big jerk so I added two more cubes of sugar and frowned when I walked back to him. He was now half sitting on his desk

"Here" I muttered, handing him the cup but he scanned the cup then looked at me as if I were nothing. Then he took the cup from me. His large hand cupped mine and our first touch after three years had me feeling strange and he didn't seem to be in a hurry to get the cup from me. I stood there with my eyes away while he took his time to get his coffee. What was he doing

"Please take it," I said and shifted my eyes back to him and he was just standing there with his hand around mine. I looked up at him and wondered who gave him the idea of cutting his hair. I preferred his long hair more and I didn't like his new look

"I want those files to be delivered as soon as possible...work on them," he said looking straight into my eyes. I wanted to look away but I failed as I held our gaze

"But sir...I mean yes"I said and managed to get out of his grip and walked back to get the files he left on the couch. Victor was acting up, I was certain he was still upset because I left without saying anything to him

"I'll have them ready rest assured, "I said when I returned and walked son my way out of his office

"Good this is your first test...I want to know how intelligent you are...you got so many praises and...I was so curious" the man said as he put the cap on the desk and crossed his arms over his chest. He sounded sarcastic but I shrugged such words off and straightened up

"I don't know what you mean but if you heard...then they must have told you...I never back down" I said with a half-smirk. If he was told what I was capable of then he needed to fear

"I'll be the judge of that...get to work, "the man said and spat out the last words disdainfully and I nodded and walked away from there. I didn't look back but I could feel his gaze on me and that gave me chills. The devil was now showing his true colors. In the past, he never talked too much or showed his rudeness but now I guessed things changed and of course, people changed

The door closed and Vivienne walked away leaving Victor standing there as he stared at the cup of coffee. His brows knitted together as he looked towards the door and then back to his hand which got a chance to feel her again. She didn't change that much although something about her behavior was off. In the past, she was always jovial and smiling anyhow but now there was no smile. The glimmer in her beautiful eyes was not there. She sounded a little cold and distant which was unlike her. But the red hair was there, even longer than before although she smelled different even more lovely

"Silly redhead" he muttered with a frown and moved away from his desk and walked around it. He pulled out his chair and sat down gracefully. He was waiting to see how much she was willing to take to get to her destination. Three years passed and they finally met. He wasn't surprised that she found herself back to where she ran away from. She didn't even bother to tell him why she left the way she did. Even if they signed a contract he thought otherwise but now things have changed he wanted answers to his questions. His heart was not doing fine but seeing her he felt more at ease.
