Materialistic and evil!

“He will fall for it.And if you want your money in full,better be a good actress.”Lucien warned, coldly.

Audrey eyed him and shook her head.

She just wanted this over with so she wouldn’t have to see his face again.

They pulled up at a huge gate,where about four armed guards stood watch.

One of the guards came up to Lucien’s car window and bowed at him.

Then the gate was opened and they drove up a long driveway lined with perfectly maintained trees and flowers,

The compound was out of this world and Audrey couldn’t help sticking her head through the window in awe.

A castle.

That was all she could think about as she took in this place.

As the car got closer to the main house,she wondered how anyone could live here and not get lost.

She was still in a daze as she got down from the car and Lucien led her in.

The foyer had large marble columns that went all the way to the ceiling.

A grand staircase,lined with a luxurious rich red carpet dominated the wall furthest from them.

And the walls were graced with different kinds of enchanting painting.

Everything about the house was incredible.Just this room alone was larger than her entire home.

“Stop gawking.”He warned.

Audrey glanced at him.”I’m sorry.I just…I haven’t been to such a place before.”She replied,sincerely.

Wordlessly,he led them through the room and further into the house.They entered what felt like a dining room inside the mansion.

A crystal chandelier hung above them,casting pieces of rainbow all around them.The table itself was a deep cherry wood,laid with delicious food.The smell wafted up towards Audrey and made her mouth water.

Since she caught Josh in bed with Megan and Matilda completely ruining the day for her,she had not eaten.

And Mr Billionaire here had not even cared to notice.

She was so hungry right now and she could feel her stomach growling.

It seems it was lunchtime for the household for she saw an old man sitting on a chair and eating as they approached him.

“Good afternoon,Dad.”Lucien greeted.

“Lucien.”He began looking surprised to see his son.”I wasn’t expecting you until tonight.”

“Well,you sounded so upset and I had to stop hiding something from you.”

“Hiding what?”The old man probed.

“My girlfriend.”Lucien gestured at Audrey.

“Good afternoon,sir.”Audrey greeted,respectfully.

Gary Reynolds was still very confused.

“Why would you hide the fact that you had a girlfriend from me?And when did you two began dating?Oh my!I’m being so rude.Come,young lady, have a sit.”Gary gestured at her and they all got seated.

“You two should have lunch with me.Miss…”

“Audrey Wilson.”She replied.

“Oh Audrey,I’m Gary Reynolds.”He introduced with a friendly smile.”Please have some.”He gestured at her to start eating.

Audrey beamed at him and began to eat.This food tasted so good that it was hard not to devour it as quickly as she could.

She had to keep reminding herself to act ladylike for Lucien.

“Why on earth did you say you were scared of introducing me to your girlfriend?”Gary probed.

“You know…all the women you keep making me meet are all from the high society.I was thinking you wouldn’t approve of Audrey.She’s a college student and she isn’t from an influential family.”

As Audrey ate,she felt she had to commend Lucien’s acting skills.

He sounded so sincere.

“Lucien,I’m sorry if I had made you think that way.I just thought you were still flirting around aimlessly but now that you finally found someone.I have absolutely nothing against that.And Audrey here seems lovely.”

“Thank you,Mr Reynolds.”Audrey replied.

“Oh please call me Gary.What is your major?”

“Physiotherapy.Someday,I hope to help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice.”

“That sounds amazing and you know I’m not getting any younger.I could use someone like you in my family to always keep me fit.”Gary joked and he and Audrey laughed.

Lucien didn’t.

He only just stared at them as Audrey and his father continued to talk more.

They got along so well and he felt that was unnecessary.

He had only introduced her as a girlfriend so his father would be convinced that he had stopped sleeping around.

But it seems that his father was already seeing Audrey as his daughter-in-law.

That made him pissed.

He was never getting married.

He would never have his life tied down by anyone.

And the thought of him spending the rest of his life with one woman was sickening!

By evening,Audrey and his dad were at the balcony talking about a book when Lucien walked up to them.

“Dad,Audrey and I need to leave now.”

Gary grimaced.”You two are welcome to spend the night.”He offered.

“We would have loved to but Audrey has a class by 7:am tomorrow.I wouldn’t want her to be late.”Lucien eyed Audrey for back up.

“The professor taking that course is very strict.I can’t be a minute late.It was so nice meeting you,Gary.”

Gary smiled.”It was nice meeting you too.”

As the two began walking away, Gary pulled back his son.

“She told me you two had only been seeing each other for a month now.”

Lucien blinked and nodded.

“I like her,Lucien.And since you had taken a chance on this girl.It means you’re healing from Mia so please treat her right.She might be exactly what you need.”

Lucien wanted to laugh.

He didn’t need any woman.

“I will.”He agreed.

As soon as they got into the car,Lucien sped off like the winds.

Audrey quickly held onto something,tightly.

“Slow down.”She begged but he suddenly seemed so out of it.

And then he pulled up on the highway.

“Get down.”He ordered.

She frowned looking around at the deserted road.

“I said get down!I could say it was nice working with you but it wasn’t.”

“Why are you so upset?Your father fell for it.”She reminded.

“Get down.”

“Since you’re dropping me off here,how will I get my bag?My clothes are in it.”

“It’s on the trunk.”He replied.

Sighing,she got down from the car and he pressed a button to open up the trunk.

Getting her bag,she quickly hurried up to his car window.

“What about my pay?”She asked.

He took out his cheque book, signed it and threw the cheque note at her.

Tears pricked her eyes as she bent down and picked it up.

“Thanks.”She murmured.

“You sure know how to act all innocently but at the end of the day, you’re just like the rest of them.Materialistic and evil.”He sneered.

“Evil?Who’s the evil one between the two of us!You’re a big jerk and I hope I never see you again.”She shot back.

He started his engine and drove off.

Audrey felt like throwing a stone at his car.

How can someone be so mean?!
