9. Floury Misstep

Delilah

"Don't tell me that hot man is your boss?" Emma's question made me roll my eyes. Not at anything but the way she used the word 'hot' to describe him.

"And who says he's hot?" I threw back. Emma gave me a look. "I don't know whether you're blind or clouded by hatred that you can't differentiate between handsome and hot. In fact, he's all the two together."

"Maybe you should go and marry him." I hissed out. I thought she was backing me up earlier. Even calling me a beautiful woman.

"Should I?" She suddenly pinned her hair behind her ear. "Maybe I should go and introduce myself." I didn't miss to notice how she beamed.

She pulled her chair back and was about to stand up when I held her hand stopping her. "Are you crazy? Do you want to embarrass yourself." I whispered yelled.

"But you said I should go and marry him. So, I want to propose."

"You're crazy."

"Exactly my point. That man doesn't look like an ordinary guy. I'm sure he's loaded." I gulped down. Only if she knew. How my father and I scammed him. "I'm jealous of Leah taking his order."

I rolled my eyes for the second time. How easy it was for Emma to switch sides. Like she wasn't the same person that suggested sending a few community men to beat him up. Now she's drooling over him.

His head was casted down as he pressed on his phone. He was facing our direction but he seemed not to notice me. What exactly do I lack that he doesn't see me as an attractive person. An annoyed chuckle suddenly escaped me and I found myself standing up. Emma's gaze followed me. "Where are you going?" She asked her brows creasing.

"To meet the Casanova." Before Emma could say anything, I sauntered away. I stopped by the counter instead. "Hey Leah." I commenced, flashing the girl a brief smile.

"Hi Delilah, you're here?"

"Yeah. Can I take the coffee order to that man?" I pointed at Liam's table whose attention was still focused on his phone. He should stick his eyes where they're supposed to be.

Leah gave me a confused look. "He's my boss. I want to talk to him, which is why I want to use the coffee as an excuse." I ended with a tight-lipped smile.

Leah still had the confused look on her face but I didn't give her the time to react. I took the coffee from her hand and waved away. While walking towards Liam's table, I threw a glance at Emma's direction, whose eyes were already on me. The look she was giving me was that of 'You are crazy.' But I couldn't care less. The crazy one is Liam himself, for calling me plain as paper.

"Fancy seeing you here, Mr. Liam." I commenced, placing the cup of coffee in front of him. Surprise occupied his face.

"Why are you here?" I wanted to roll my eyes but I kept my cool.

"I should be the one asking you that."

"Why I'm here is none of your business." He said. This time around, I didn't resist rolling my eyes. The man is surely not in his senses.

"Great." I uttered, forcing out a smile. He reached for the cup and took a sip of it. As he dropped it back, his gaze shifted to me. "So... Are you planning on standing here watching me drink my coffee?"

"No. But I'm thinking about pouring the coffee all over your face." The words escaped me fast.

Shock flickered in his eyes for some seconds before he leaned back on the chair and folded his arms across his chest. "Oh, I see. You don't only look like a tomboy, but you're also the violent type."

"Tom...What?" I narrowed my eyes on him. I clenched my fist by my side. Maybe I should go ahead and pour the coffee all over his face.

"Yes. You're no different from a guy." His eyes raked my body in a way that had anger boiling inside me. I thought I should be the one to hurl insults at him, not the other way around. "Go on. Pour the coffee on me. You won't only be charged for domestic violence, but I will make sure you get charged a huge fine for defamation of image and also for sexual harassment."

"You're crazy."

"Normally, we're two crazy human beings. Try it and see the level of my craziness." I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out. His words literally rendered me speechless.

"Suit yourself then." I finally said and proceeded to leave.

"Oh, and make sure you eat before coming tomorrow morning. You will need the energy to clean the house." My back was facing him but I could picture him smirking. I said nothing and stormed away.

"Why do you look like you're pissed? I thought you were going to give him a piece of your mind. Is it..."

"Say another word and the remaining coffee here will be all over your face." I threatened. Emma raised her hand in surrender. "Sorry, tigress."

I threw her a dirty look in return before grabbing my bag and stormed away. Just before I pushed the door, I threw a dirty glare in Liam's direction. I will definitely show him what it means to be crazy. In fact, I will show him I'm insane.

"I need a punching bag!" I grumbled as I kicked the door to our living room open. Father was setting the table for dinner. My stomach made a familiar sound but I ignored it. I was fucking angry.

"What happened, Delilah? Why do you need a punching bag?" He asked, concern evident in his voice.

"Father, I didn't know mad people exist in this world. I fucking want to punch something so badly!" I hissed out, walking my way towards my room.

"What about dinner?" I didn't even pay attention to what he was saying. I was seething inside. The moment I found myself in my room, the first thing I did was hop in bed and began punching my pillow.

"You dare call me plain!"

"A tomboy! I don't look attractive!"

"That man is crazy!" I screamed at the top of my lungs while I continued to punch my pillow, imagining it to be Liam's body.

"Are you sure you're okay?" I heard my father's voice from the door. I shook my head without turning to look at him.

"No, Father, not until I teach that man a lesson. He dares compare me to a man! He said I'm not attractive, Father," I said, frustration coursing through me. I finally turned to my father.

His eyes widened at my confession. He was about to close the door behind him when I got down from the bed. "Don't worry, Father, I'm good. I have vented out my frustration already. Let's go eat."

He pulled at my arm, stopping me. "Tell me, is he bullying you?" I didn't know when a chuckle escaped me.

"No, Father, he's not. But I will be the one to bully him. I will not only be a housekeeper; I would be his crazy housekeeper." Father's eyes widened once again.

"Come on, Father. I won't do what will end me up in jail. But I will do more than scamming, though," I linked up our arms together, and off we set out.

**

I tried as much as I can to put on my best smile as I stepped inside Liam's house. "Good morning, Dixon," I cheerfully greeted.

"Good morning, Delilah. You seem to be in a good mood today. What's the occasion?"

"Well... one doesn't need any reason to be happy. I feel like I've been quite harsh towards you and your boss. So, I want to spread my kind nature around," I uttered. The house looks clean unlike last night.

"That's actually nice. As you can see, there isn't much cleaning to do. I think you should start preparing breakfast directly."

Great.

I nodded my head and proceeded my way to the kitchen. One leg inside and one out and my body movement came to a stop at the sight before me. Liam, naked in all his glory. Okay, not entirely naked. He was shirtless. A sight that made me gulp down my saliva. I didn't know when I took a step forward. I didn't miss the way his body movement was making my heart race inside. How can someone have such a perfectly shaped body?

That same perfectly shaped body belonged to the same person that called you unattractive. My inner voice chanted in my head. I had already made up my mind to teach him a lesson not to drool over how perfect his body was.

"Excuse me, I have work to do," I finally voiced out, making my presence known. Confusion filled me up when I didn't find any sort of shock on his face. Did he know all along that I was standing there, and what was the smirk on his face for?

"I didn't stop you, or did I?" he said back. That was when I noticed what he was doing. Mixing flour. I marched forward, trying as much as I can not to get intimidated by his naked chest. "By the way, there's something called good morning," I said.

"There's nothing good about the morning."

I scoffed. "Of course, there is. Not everyone has a grumpy morning like you. And mind you, I'm here to spread a touch of my kindness." I didn't watch my steps closely. Next thing I found myself losing balance. A part of me anticipated Liam coming to my aid, but he literally changed direction while my hand landed on the bowl of flour. My body collided with the floor with the bowl of flour down on my face.
