Chapter 1

Flames of anger shot through her as her dad broke the news.

She don’t believe her ears and she don’t have the intention to.

“You heard me right, Mia” Her dad confirmed.

“Wha...what the fuck are you talking about?” Rage swept over her.

“You don’t want me to repeat myself, do you?” Her dad, Mr. Conner scoffed.

“You are just speaking gibberish, am not doing that. You don’t expect me to live with a stranger. Why would you even do that!” She half yelled.

“Mia just calm down. This man is a billionaire and he is offering a whole lot of money just for you to come to his house and stay. “

“And do what?”

“That doesn’t really matter”

Mia scoffs “ really? that is it with you. You don’t care. You don’t care about what I feel. You just do everything without my permission and expect me to accept it. I don’t even know who the hell is this man you are talking about and I don’t want to know and you just signed a deal with him for me to stay with me in his house. Who the hell does that?”

“ I won’t have you talk to me anyhow, Mia Conner!” Mr. Conner slammed.

“He is offering big money and I can’t lose it. You are doing what I say whether you like it or not!”

“You can’t make me!”Mia maintained her ground and walked out of her dad immediately.

She went up to her room and slammed the door behind her in anger.

She fought the urge to cry.

“No..., you are strong Mia,” She said to herself as she sniffled.

She knows her dad is greedy for money but not to this extent.

A billionaire paid her dad a huge sum of money for her to stay with him in his house.

That does sound suspicious. For what exactly?

To have sex with her? Torture her? Lock her up?

She raked her hands through her hair frustratedly.

Why does this have to happen now?

She just started dating Logan, her school’s most hottest guy.

Girls are practically begging him to date them but he chooses Mia.

He have actually been in love with her for a long time but doesn’t know how to tell her.

It was the final year of college and he musters up courage and proposed to her.

She agreed. She won’t deny the fact that she likes him too. She decided to give the relationship a try.

Their relationship isn’t even up to 24hours yet and her dad wants her to live with a stranger.

She sighed and brought out her phone and dialed her best friend, Martha‘s number.

Martha picked at the first ring.”Hey, babe” Martha’s high-pitched voice said.

“Hi” Mia uttered silently sitting on her bed.

“You don’t sound good. Is everything alright?”

“Am not sure”

“Did something happen?” Martha sounded worried.

“My dad just said somethings to me this evening and it got on my nerve”

“What is it this time around?”Martha inquired.

“I don’t know, it just sounds stupid. When I got home, my dad told me am leaving the house. Initially, I thought he was drunk but then he said a billionaire signed a deal with him and wants me in his house till further notice”

“What? To do what?”

“That was my question too. Why would he do something as extreme as that! I don’t even know this guy” Her temples throbbed with rage as she said this.

“Babe, calm down. I understand how you must be feeling right now. I must admit what your dad did isn’t cool at all and I think he is selling you out”

Mia’s chest stuttered and her hands started shaking.

“He can’t do that to me! I can’t allow that”

“Why don’t you talk things out with him”

“Calmly” Martha added “He should terminate that deal he signed with the guy”

“He should better!”

“It going to be fine. Okay?”

“I hear you” Mia breaths out.

“Will call you later”

The call dropped and Mia dropped her phone on the bed and proceeded to go to the bathroom and have her bath.

Her dad is going to hear from her!

Mia ignored her dad throughout the day until it was nighttime.

She prepared dinner and served the food in the dining.

She called her dad who was busy watching a documentary in the living room.

He is mostly on the tv. He doesn’t have a permanent job.

After her mom’s death, her dad have become more greedy for money but is always finding the easiest way to get it.

He have worked in different places and hardly spend long there.

He usually gets sacked due to his incompetence and truancy.

Mr. Conner stood up and walked to the dining table.

He sat down and Mia also sat opposite him and stared at him.

Her dad looks younger than his age. Viking brown hair, Bristly eyebrow,

Hawkish nose, concrete jaw, and dark bristly mustache.

You will mistake him for a 30-year-old.

“About what you said this evening, I just want you to tell me you were joking” Mia started as they started eating.

“Mia” Mr. Conner called slowly.

“This man is a billionaire and he is clearly interested in you. He is offering huge money for you to just stay in his house. The money is enough to change our life. You will be going to school from his house, he isn’t stopping you and you would be living the life of a queen. Don’t you want that? Besides, you are not staying there forever”

“Dad, this is just crazy.”

“It not. It's a great opportunity we shouldn’t let slip our hand.”

“It doesn’t feel right. I don’t even know this guy. What if he is dangerous?”

“He is not, trust me”

“So you are doing this just for the money” I frowned.

“Of course. You don’t expect me to reject that amount of money”

Mia was about to talk but was interrupted by the sound of her phone ringing.

She glances at her dad and checked the caller id. It was Logan, her new boyfriend.

She picked it and placed it on her ear.

“Hello babe”

“Hi”

“How are you? Decided to check up on my girlfriend”

Mia blushed “Logan,” She said and her dad gave her a questioning look.

“What are you up to?”

“Having dinner with my dad”

“Oh, I shouldn’t disturb you then. Will call you later”

“Okay”

“I love you”

“Love you too,” Mia said softly and dropped the call.

“Who was that?” Her dad asked.

“My boyfriend” Mia simply answered.

“Hmm, anyways you are leaving tomorrow” he announced.

“Uhh”

“He called and told me he wants you in his house tomorrow”

“What! No! If I want to go, at least you would give me time to think about it”

“There is nothing to think about. pack your things. You are going there tomorrow”

Mia stared at her dad angrily. What is she going to do?

And who exactly is this guy in question?
