(Ivy's POV)

The moment the sun rose, we packed what little we had. It would take at least three hours to reach the main road, and with Ryker’s condition, although most of his wounds are healed, but the injury on his right leg hadn’t fully closed yet, so we had no choice but to go on foot.

I slowed my pace to match his, though guilt gnawed at me. If I’d been able to help him sooner, maybe he wouldn’t be in this state.

“Can I ask you a question?” His voice cut through my thoughts, making me flinch.

I glanced at him. “What is it?”

“What do you think of me?”

I blinked at him. Is he for real? Why is he asking me that?

“What do I think of you?” I repeated.

“Yeah,”

My brows drew together. Of all the questions, why that? With all our interactions, surely he had an idea what I think of him.

I thought about it for a moment, deciding if I was gonna be honest with him or just lie and tell him the nice things he probably wants to hear. But I figured it wouldn’t hurt to tell him
