My younger sister could easily choose to accompany me, but I knew she hated the smell of blood that our mother was covered with after a beating from my father. Blood and alcohol. He only hit her when he was drunk, or when his meetings went bad and he got drunk. I sighed and got up, going to the office. My father was punching, sweat dripping over his brows and his fingers were covered with blood.

My mum wasn't moving.

We had clear rules in the house. Whenever papa had an issue with mama, we were not to interfere. For any reason. We stayed in our room and waited, going to help her after it all ended. I ran towards them and pushed my father off her. “She's not moving you bastards.” I cried out. My mother's nose was broken, her lips swollen more than the last time he beat her and her eyes were shut. “What th

Achilles POVThe Rusty bar was the meeting point for the Russos and their official ground. It was also considered neutral for most bases.I have realized a few mistakes I made in my take over. The older men were jealous, weak and threatened. I thought fear would be enough to keep them in their heels, locking our shit.I was wrong. Our men surrounded the bar, each one prepared for war. The signal I am waiting for is not here yet.Soon, a girl wearing a fake Jimmy Choos and a sleepy pink strapless gown sauntered out. She walks in zig zags, drunk or drugged out of her mind, her right arm completely tatted.I hid in the shadows waiting for her to make contact with our informant.Gabriel Suarez was in here.It was not hard getting information on the second man in the Russo Family. He loved to drink, was a woman beater and a heavy gambler. He was a Spanish man that bought his loyalty from the Italians by betraying his gang. He and Rafael go way back and I knew he would be the perfect captur

Lyla’s POVThe gym smells different tonight. “What's up with the smoke,” I can across my face. “It's just props,” Xiomar says, opening the curtains at the back. “After you, my lady.”I walk in front of the three men, into the biggest fighting pit I have ever seen.“Holy shit,” I curse, taking in the scenario unfolding in front of me.About a thousand men are here tonight, maybe more. Two men are in the ring, brawling in the floor. There's no referee.“How do they know the winner?” “When the other person dies, little bird,” Emilio saunters to the middle of the room. The crowd clears for him, letting him lead us to the front, where we can see everything.“Welcome, Boss,” a girl wearing lingerie comes up to us, a tray of drinks in her hands. “Your favourite.”Xiomar takes the tray from her. “Thanks. How's tonight?”“As packed as ever,” she says in a sultry voice, her eyes flickering towards me. “Is this a new countess?”The fuck is a countess?“No, she is not. You may go.”She glanced a

Lyla’s POVMy honey I know, you belong to me in the stars, and tonight you belong to me.Alexi sang that horrible song multiple times from the top of his voice. I cringed badly, unable to tell him to shut up because of the Gaga in my mouth. He paused. “What was that?”I kept my face neutral, making sure he did not see any reaction. “You have something to say?”Nothing.“You stink,” he squeezed his nose. I wanted to bite it off. It was a pity that he tied a piece of handkerchief across my face. “What? Say something bitch.”“Alexi”The chauffeur was back. I did not know his name yet, but he left me regularly with this mad man. “The doctor is here.”A short burly man came in behind him. “Oh poor girl. Please, she needs the hospital, she looks so young.”“Where did you get him from?” Alexi frowned. “Kidnapped.”The chauffeur faced the doctor. “You remember what I told you yeah, treat the girl, fix her and your precious grandbabies get to see another day. I can't deliver her like this and

Xiomar’s POVIt had been two days since the city hall explosion. Emilio was still under drugs, and he was dealing with a life threatening infection. The house was cold and empty, Achilles fired everyone except Katarina, telling her not to return here again.“You sure they would not discover who we are alive?”I shook my head. “You still think shes alive?”We had searched everywhere for her. There was nobody found, just the shoes. “I don't think she died. I think she was kidnapped.”“So, what's the plan?”“We are dead again, brother. It is time we started acting like it. What would dead men do?”“Lay low,” I replied, hating it. “Become invisible.”“We can become invisible,” Achilles said menacingly, “there is no talk about laying low though.”“So what is your plan?”Emilio stood at the entrance to the kitchen, his skin looking much brighter. “How long did I sleep?”“Two days,” I said, pouring him a cup of water. He downs it quickly. “So, we're are dead?”“Yes. Officially. We put three

Emilio’s POV Dust. Darkness. Dust. “Emilio, Emilio open your eyes.” A solid slap landed on my cheeks. “Emilio, brother, open your eyes.” What is happening? “Achilles?” I was confused. “Where are we?” “Fuck you think he has a concussion?” Was that Xiomar? “Why does my head hurt so much?” I groaned, grabbing it in pain. “Open your eyes, brother. We need to get out of here fast.” Where was it? I struggled to open my eyes slightly. Everywhere spun, my head hurting. “Fuck shit, let's lift him up.” There was rustling then two sting hands held on to me. “One, two, three.” They groaned, lifting me up from the floor. “Fuck you're a heavy fucker,” Xiomar said. “What's going on?” “The hall got bombed.” A bomb? Suddenly, everything rushed back to me. “Lyla,” I screamed. I tried to walk but I collapsed immediately. “Why can't I walk?” I hissed. “We need to get you to safety, you took a large hit.” No fucking way. I glanced down at my pants, seeing everything soaked with blood.

  • The Captured Mafia Bride   CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHT

Lyla’s POVWhere was I?My head aches badly, and my tongue felt heavy. A light shone above me, swung back and forth, and I thought I was dunked under water.“Getting her was so easy?”Who was that?I opened my eyes slightly, seeing a man hovering above me. He was tall, with dark hair and I almost thought it was one of them. The voice wasn't theirs though.“Easy? They hovered around her like vultures.”A slimy hand gripped my thighs. “Ohh, I just know they're going to love her. Do you think she is still pure?”Pure?I needed to be calm right now. What could I remember last? Why was my head spinning? What was pure?“I don't think so. She fucked the last one in the bathroom.”Oh no.Emilio.The second voice is more clear now, more recognizable. “It does not matter. We deliver her to the boss and he decided what he wants to do with her,” he finished. These men bombed the city hall for me.Someone came to my face. “You think she'll wake up soon?” He said, stroking my jaw.“Yeah, don't tou
