ZoeThere’s silence as I reach the bathroom door, and I rest my fingers on the handle. This is definitely where the noise came from, but none of the pack have come to investigate.“Blake?” I whisper as I push the door open gently. There’s something behind it, and I have to use my weight to push it open far enough for me to slip inside. My first thought is that Blake has fainted and knocked something over, and the shattered remnants of a vase on the floor suggest that I’m on the right track. Stepping over the flowers and the shards of porcelain, I close the door over behind me to give us some privacy. As I turn, though, I realise my mistake. It’s not Blake. Blake Lights and colours dance in front of my eyes as I try to get my bearings. I’ve lived in this territory my entire life. I know this place like the back of my hand but somehow, I’m struggling to get a fix on exactly where I am. Disorientated, I trip over a log, landing on my snout in the cold, damp leaves. Climbing back onto four paws, I growl in frustration. My physical prowess is something I take for granted. The thought that even this is being stolen from me is terrifying. ZoeBlake stands, running his hands up my bare thighs as he does, before gripping my hips and turning me toward the open bedroom door and the bathroom just inside. For the first time, I take in his suite, and it’s not decorated how I imagined it would be. I pictured dark, rich tones and masculine, oversized furniture, but it’s not like that at all. It’s bright and airy, with an enormous wall of glass at one end. ZoeIt takes me a second to realise where I am when I wake up. Stretching an arm out across the cool sheets, I frown when I don’t find Blake’s warm body beside me. Gripping the bed sheet in one hand, I sit up and squint into the darkness, listening for him in the ensuite. Silence.I swing my feet over the side of the bed and stand, wrapping the sheet loosely around me as I tiptoe out into the living area. It’s not as dark out here. The silvery moonlight reflecting through the massive windows gives enough light to see by. I can make out Blake’s tall silhouette, leaning against the glass, his head resting on one forearm.
