Ariana's POV
Damien asked Michael to take me to my room. I was unhappy. I was not sure what was going to happen to me with Damien's family coming in one after the other. I am only a carrier bag for his child. I stared at Damien over Michael's shoulders and met his gaze. His expression was unreadable. I lowered my gaze as Michael continued to climb the staircase. He carried me down the hall towards my room.
"Please, put me down," I said, staring at the floor, as soon as we were alone. "It's a short distance from here to my room. I can walk," I added, and shifted my gaze, staring ahead.
"Hmm," I heard Michael say, and he put my feet down.
I put my hand on the wall and held Michael's shoulders briefly to balance myself. I was still feeling weak and drowsy. I lifted my head, stared ahead of me, and realised my vision was a little blurry, but I could see. I let go of Michael and used the wall as support while I took steady steps towards my room.
"Why do I get the feeling you prefer Alpha Damien carrying you?" I heard Michael say from behind me, and I halted in my steps.
"What do you mean?" I asked and resumed walking, still using the wall as support.
"You are not walking, Ariana Brown. You are staggering," I heard Michael say.
"My room is not far from here. I don't see the need to be carried to it. Plus, it's just a medication effect," I replied.
"Hmmm," I heard Michael say.
"Greetings, Michael, you called," I heard my wannabe bully, Miriam, say from behind me.
"Yes, kindly attend to her, and ensure she eats before going to bed," I heard Michael say.
I was drowsy, but I still had the energy to roll my eyes. I reached my door and realised I didn't have my card with me. It was in my bag, and I didn't have my bag with me. I leaned on the door, feeling too weak to stand on my two legs.
"What is wrong?" I heard Michael ask.
"My key," I said, and my vision became very blurry.
I sat down on the floor in front of my door. The voices around me became very faint, even though I could see blurry figures standing in front of me. I saw Michael leave. Miriam came to stand next to me and started talking, but I paid no attention to her. Soon, Michael returned, and my door was opened. I crawled on my hands and knees to my bed. I felt better after sitting on the floor for a while. I climbed onto the bed and lay on it. I felt a chill air blow over me. I was covered in sweat.
"Dr Francis, she doesn't look good. She is soaked in sweat," I heard Michael say.
I lay down on the bed for fear of getting up and feeling dizzy again.
"Okay," I heard Michael say.
"Get her water, and prepare some soup for her," I heard Michael say, and I knew he was talking to Miriam.
"Are you okay now?" I heard Michael ask.
"Yes, I'm fine. I just felt dizzy briefly, but I am fine," I replied, but my mind shifted to the people I saw at the living room entrance and the bags.
"Miriam will take care of you for the night," I heard Michael say, and next he exited the room.
Miriam did return with the water and soup. She placed it on the table.
"Your water and food," I heard her say, and she also left.
I lay on the bed for a while and stood up. I sat on the bed and stared at the food and a bottle of water sitting on the table. I finally stood up and walked to the table. I was feeling hungry. I drank the soup. After, I went to take a shower and changed into something comfortable. I grabbed the bottle of water, and I heard footsteps. I stared at the door, waiting to see who would enter my room, but no one did. I heard the gentle closing of a door, and I knew Damien had returned to his room. I sat on my bed for a while. I unscrewed the head of the bottle, sipped some of the water and screwed it back. I placed the bottle on the table and went to sleep. I drifted off to sleep as soon as my head touched the pillow.
I opened my eyes, and it was already morning. I quickly jumped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom. I took a quick shower and quickly dressed up for work. I stepped out of my room and came face to face with Damien, who had equally just stepped out of his room.
"You are ready for work?" Damien asked.
"Yes," I replied, still standing in front of my open door.
"Have you eaten?" he asked.
"Yes," I lied.
I didn't want to deal with Miriam, and with his family around, I didn't want to stay behind to find out how they would treat me. Eve is friendly, I don't know about the other lady and the gentleman who also looked like Damien, except Damien is more handsome than him.
"Okay," I heard Damien say, and he closed his door.
He started walking down the hall, and I followed him after closing my door.
"Good morning, Alpha," Michael greeted, standing at the bottom of the staircase.
"Alpha, today, the new employee will be visiting the mining site. And two of our partners would be coming over too," Michael said.
"What time?" Damien asked, and I was just walking behind him, taking slow steps.
"9 a.m.," Michael replied.
"Okay, let's go there first before going to the office," I heard Damien say, and Miriam walked in.
My heart skipped multiple beats. I prayed very hard that she didn't say anything about food.
"Good morning, Alpha," Miriam greeted with a bow.
"Good morning," Damien responded. "Is anyone awake?" he asked.
"No, alpha," Miriam replied.
"Okay," Damien said and started walking towards the door.
I hurried my steps and followed them out. Outside, I walked towards the SUV and got inside. Soon, all the cars drove out of the compound. From Michael's conversation, we were visiting a site, but I don't even know the location. I stared at the rolled-up glass and admired the city as we drove past. Soon, the car drove into a place that looked like the end of the road. The cars stopped, and all the guards got out. So I got out of the car, too.
Lying before me was a huge land, and there were huge trucks there already, working.
Oh, so they mine their minerals to make the jewellery. No wonder their jewellery is pretty expensive. I thought as I stood by the parked car, staring at the site in front of me.
Damien got out of his car, and he was already in a nose mask. A man wearing a protective helmet walked up to him and shook hands with him. I saw Michael carrying three protective helmets and walking up to me.
"Put this on and help Alpha put his on," Michael said and handed me two helmets.
"What!" I exclaimed.
"That is your job. You are his PA," Michael said and left me with the two helmets.
I put mine on and walked up to Damien. He was engaged in a conversation with the man who had walked up to him.
"Good morning," I greeted, interrupting their conversation.
"Alpha, your helmet," I said, staring at Damien, not sure what expression I should carry on my face.
He took the helmet from my hand and put it on. I helped him secure it by locking the buckles under his chin. The back of my hand brushed against his Adam's apple, and it moved. I felt chills run down my spine.
"I am done," I said and quickly withdrew my hand.
He stared at me briefly before heading for the site with the man he was speaking with. My gaze was fixated on the back of Damien as he walked away.
"Sign this," I heard a voice say, and I shifted my gaze in that direction.
It was a man wearing a helmet and protective dark shades. He was also in a nose mask, so I couldn't see his face, but he was in the same uniform as the people working on the mines.
"Okay," I said and stared at the open document he was holding up to me.
I saw my name and that of Damien's, but I couldn't tell what document it was since his hand was covering most of it, and the raised leaves of the document only showed my name and Damien's name. I signed my signature.
"Thank you," he said and walked away.
I watched him leave, and my gaze fell on Jeremy. He was standing close to the site with a man. He stared at me briefly and left with the man.
Next, I heard a sound. I shifted my gaze in the direction of the sound, and Damien was on the ground.
"Damien!" I screamed and ran towards him.
"Ma'am, you can't go there," I heard someone screaming, but I ignored the person.
I dodge the man trying to catch me, and I head for Damien. I dropped to my knees next to his motionless body as soon as I was close. I pushed the pieces of broken stone that had fallen on him. There was an abandoned excavator whose arms were directly above Damien's head. I suspected whoever was in the excavator hit Damien with the bucket and ran off. I realised the stones were from the bucket of the excavator.
"Damien!" I called out to him while I dusted him up.
It was at that moment that I realised the ground was about to collapse. It was vibrating.
"Get out of there, there is an explosive," I heard someone scream.
"I am not leaving here without you," I whispered on my lips, and turned him to face up.
He was very heavy. I prayed silently in my head that I could move him away from the place before whatever explosives they are talking about blow up.
I held him by his legs once he was facing up and began to pull him away from the place.
"Please help me," I screamed, but nobody wanted to come over to the place.
I searched the place, wondering where Michael was, but he was nowhere to be found. I saw the guards standing a distance away, as if waiting for me to bring Damien closer.
I used all my strength to pull him. I finally made it away from the dangerous zone, and the guards came to my aid. I dropped to the ground, dirty and exhausted. The others who were just standing there like spectators swarmed in like bees.
Boom! I heard the explosion which shook the ground. I turned around and looked back. The place Damien was previously lying fell in, and a cloud of dust was formed, which quickly covered everyone.
Ariana's POVThe day slowly came to a close, and Damien wouldn't let me do anything. He made me sit on the couch all day, and he cancelled the rest of his meetings for the day and stayed inside the office with me, working. Michael got us lunch and we ate sitting behind the dining table inside his office. "And the last one for the day," I heard Damien say and I raised my head to stare at him.He smiled at me from across his desk, and I smiled back. I just found a game on my phone and I was playing it. Damien joined me on the couch and planted a kiss on my head, like I was a little girl."You got bored?" he asked me, and I shifted my gaze to him."A little, but I found this game. It kept me busy," I replied, and he stared at me with a smile plastered on his face."Why are you smiling?" I asked, smiling too."Don't talk, just hold still," he said and continued to stare."Why are you staring at me like that?" I asked again after what feels like a minute. His stare was beginning to have a
Ariana's POVJeremy took me into a small room full of boxes. He had told me the room was a place where the company kept items it no longer needed. He told me he brought me there so we could talk. He was ready to listen to me now. I told him everything about how I got pregnant and even told him who the father of my child was. I realised he was finding it hard to believe. He just accepted it and asked me if I wanted us to get back together. When he asked me that question, it got me thinking. I am married to Damien, and he said I am his fated mate. He finds me easily, like he has a tracker on me. Damien hates humans, but he doesn't hate me. After seeing the trouble I was going to face, as his wife, I wanted to leave. I don't know how we got married, but if his father said the marriage had been annulled, I thought it was the best time to leave, but hearing Jeremy ask, I feared what Damien would do to him if I left with him."Jeremy, I think, it's too late for us. I had thought we could g
Jeremy's POV"Would you take me back, knowing I am carrying Alpha Damien's child?" Ariana asked me, and I stared at her, wondering what she took me for. This girl must think I am stupid. She wants me to take her back. I thought. But come to think of it, why would she say Alpha Damien is responsible? I thought, but it quickly hit me. There was no way I could confirm her story. Wow! Ariana, you are smart with your lies. I thought, but I kept a straight face. I will play along till I get her in my bed."You are my woman, and I still love you," I said. "My only problem is, it's Alpha Damien we are talking about. How do I hide you from him?" I asked, trying to see if she had already planned a way to escape, whoever the father of the child she is carrying is. She went silent. I patiently waited, believing she was thinking of something."Jeremy, I think, it's too late for us. I had thought we could get back together. But he always finds me. It doesn't matter where I am. He finds me. I don't
Jeremy's POVI was still mad at Ariana for cheating on me, but seeing her again, I wish I had never married Melody. It's only been four days since I started working in the company, and I have had the opportunity to see Ariana twice. She looked more beautiful than before. Even though I wished I had never married Melody, there was nothing I could do about it. She was already six weeks pregnant, and I am responsible. That mistake I made six weeks ago, allowing my desire to take the better of me.This was all Ariana's fault. If she had allowed me to touch her, instead of playing Virgin Mary, waiting to be married before, I wouldn't have yielded to Melody's seduction. That day, I was horny. I went to Ariana, and she was not ready. I left the apartment to cool off at a nearby club, and that was when I ran into Melody. I had always known, Melody's fight with Ariana was just because she liked me, but I was with Ariana. Melody did attempt to drug me, but I saw it, so I didn't take that drink
Ariana's POV"Damien, you can't take away a girl's virginity and expect another man to accept her like that. If you didn't want to marry her, you should have kept your pants zipped up," I heard Alpha Leo say, and I stared at Victoria, sitting directly opposite us, looking all pitiful."Damien, at first, I wanted to be with you because I like you, but I realised you didn't, so I decided to keep my distance, waiting to see if you like me for me or because of the mate bond. That was why I was mostly not around," I heard Victoria say. "I am sorry for everything I did, I only did them because I loved you. That night, I came into your room after reflecting on what you told me. I wanted to inform you that I was going back home, but you grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I may be in the entertainment industry, but I kept myself away from men. Now, you have taken that away from me," she ended her statement in tears. My heart went out to her. I shifted my gaze to Damien, only to find him rolling h
Ariana's POVDamien's proposal left me shocked. Everything was happening so fast, I really couldn't understand. Yes, I liked him when I first saw him, but now, it's like he suddenly cares about me, not because of the pregnancy. And I don't know what kind of cologne he is using now, but I believe it has an aphrodisiac effect. I have never felt this before, to the extent that I can't even control myself. What does he want from me? I thought as we exited the room. What is all this about? I thought. He wouldn't let go of my hand, and it was like he didn't care who saw us walking hand in hand like lovers. With my thoughts trying to figure out what was happening to me, my desires were kept at bay, and I felt normal. We were soon outside, and I wanted to go to the SUV, but he pulled me towards his car, opened the door for me, and I got inside, still wondering what was happening. Inside the car, sitting so close to him, the feeling started again. His scent was so comforting, yet it aroused
