Chapter 6

Mrs. Tonia did not say anything as Flora left the room. Instead, she sighed and walked over to sit by Anita on the bed, while Favour and Esther also left.

"Do not be harsh with your sister. Fighting with her was unnecessary," Mrs. Tonia said to Anita as she sat beside her on the bed.

"I know, Mom, but they keep disrespecting me too much and are getting out of hand," Anita said.

"It is okay. I understand, but do not change yourself because of them. Keep being my sweet and calm daughter," Mrs. Tonia urged.

"Okay, Mom," Anita sighed as she looked at their mother. Glory moved up to sit on the bed with her.

"I need to depart immediately and join your father," Mrs. Tonia said. "Glory, go ahead and pack your bags and come join Anita here."

"Okay, Mom," Glory replied, standing up from the bed and walking out of the room, going to the room she shares with Lisa. Flora was already in the room, arranging her bag of clothes into the wardrobe, but she didn't say anything to Glory, who stepped in and carried her own box of clothes out.

Lisa sighed when she returned from the kitchen and discovered Flora in the room she formerly shared with Glory. She asked no questions, as she dislikes both Anita and Glory.

Glory left the room and walked back to join Anita in her room, while Anita was texting Temisa and Temisa called her instead.

"Hello, girlfriend, how's home?" Temisa asked.

"All fine, and yours?" Anita responded.

"All good," Temisa said, sounding dull.

"What's happening now? You don't sound very happy," Anita asked her.

"I understand, it's a long story. Remember that my father didn't attend the ceremony, and now he's asking for my results and urging me to send them to the Benson group. As you know, I am not interested in working with them," Temisa stated.

"What! That is good news. You should be happy. So quick. You just graduated, and you already have a job waiting for you, unlike us, who would have to start roaming around the streets and submitting applications," Anita added.

"Hmmm, you can say that, but that's not what I want, at least not for now, and besides my results, I doubt I will get the job," Temisa said with a sigh.

"Hmph, that's well, girlfriend, but be happy at least; you have your father's support, unlike mine," Anita said, and the phone line fell silent for a moment.

"It is okay. However, I do not have high aspirations for working with the BENSON organizations. I understand they're the most sought-after collection of companies, but I'm not interested," Temisa deadpanned.

"Hmm, I understand, but you can still apply. I'll be submitting mine there as well, but I didn't want to trouble you about it before, nor did I seek for your assistance in speaking with your father about it. Probably if I submit mine now and they approve and accept me, we can start working there together and you won't be bored with office work again," Anita explained.

"Really, do you have plans to submit your CV with them too?" Temisa asked.

"Yes, but I don't know your father also has plans on you working there too; I didn't want to bother you about it," Anita said.

"Oh, no problem; I'll simply submit my application and keep you updated on when they approve me. Although you know this is through my father, so no stress," Temisa beamed.

"Yeah, lucky girl," Anita praised her buddy.

"Thank you, but I am only submitting because you said you would; if I don't get to see you there, then I will quit," Temisa said to Anita.

"Okay, I will, but let's hope they also accept me. Good night, girlfriend," Anita remarked as the phone ended, to which Temisa answered, "Yeah, goodnight too."

Anita put her phone down and found Glory in the room, organizing her box to fit into the closet she previously shared with Flora, sighing as all of her siblings, except Lisa, Glory, and herself, have dark skin. Lisa is fair brown but not white like her, whereas Glory has brown skin with a dark complexion.

"Did Flora ask you anything when you went there and carried your box?" Anita asked.

"No," Glory said, and she walked to sit by her on the bed after she had arranged her box in the wardrobe.

Glory apologized softly. "I'm sorry for what happened initially," and Anita smiled at her.

"It is okay. None of this was your fault. Let's hope Flora, Favor, and Esther quit bothering me in this place," Anita said, smiling at Glory and placing her right palm on her hand.

"Hmph, I hope they don't," Glory sighed.

"It is okay. So, what did you want to talk about with me before Flora stopped us?" Anita questioned her.

"I simply wanted to ask about your university. Is studying business administration too difficult?" Glory asked.

"No, it's not too stressful. You simply have to keep your focus high and avoid being sidetracked by guys and ladies in your department who may be asking you out," Anita said, turning off her laptop because she was already exhausted.

"So you don't have a boyfriend in school or any guy that likes you?" Glory asked Anita, shocking her.

"Glory! What do you know about boyfriends?" Anita inquired, her eyes wide open and her smile solely focused on Glory.

"Okay, I don't have a boyfriend because I don't want to lose focus, and you shouldn't either," Anita told her younger sister, as Glory smiled.

"It's okay. Later, you will show me your scores for this term as I will be present. I can be your extra coaching teacher," Anita told her sister, and Glory jumped up from the bed and hugged Anita firmly.

"Thank you, big sis," Glory said.

"You are welcome. Can I breathe now?" Anita inquired, as Glory's strong hugs and plump figure threatened to suffocate her.

"Okay, let me go and ease myself before sleeping," Glory remarked, letting go of Anita and walking to the lavatory, while Anita moaned and opted to play with her Android phone because it was late.

Anita chooses to look out information about the Benson Group to find out what the company is like. She searches for the Benson Group of Companies online and sees recent news update on her phone's screen. She sighs as she reads some of the most recent news and sees Master Liam Jackson's new admin as corporate ownership.

Anita looks at the images in the company's conference hall, then down to the photos of the new CEO.

She's so preoccupied with her thoughts and searches that she doesn't see when Glory walks out, climbs on the bed, and falls asleep.

Anita sighs as she hears Glory snoring and sleeping sweetly behind her on the bed while scrolling through the new CEO's timeline post and reading his profile page, which has little updates about him. Anita sighs and clicks on his profile picture, hoping to see the new boss she will be working with if her CV is accepted. However, the date it was posted is six years ago, and he appears younger in the photo, making her sigh again. She leaves his profile page to browse how to submit her letter of application to them.

Anita eventually sees an available application form and checks in for the remaining open vacancies. While copying the company's email address, she decided to send them a letter of application, as that was the only method to apply to work for the company.

Anita, fatigued, decides to compose a new letter of application to the Benson Group the next day. After copying the firm email address, she places her phone on a shelf and falls asleep on her bed.

As she awoke the next morning at home, she heard her father cry, "No!" She sprang out of bed and rushed out of her room to find out what had happened.

"What happened?" They all gathered in the living room, and their father sat on the couch, palms on his head, fighting the impulse to cry.

"Mom, what's the problem?!" They asked their mother, and she shakes her head, not responding but also pacing up and down in the living room.

"Father, what's the problem?" Flora inquired as she sat by their father, but he shook his head in remorse and wiped away the tears that threatened to pour from his eyes.

"Mom?" Anita approaches their mother and holds her folded arms.

"What's the matter, Mom?" Mrs. Tonia ultimately admitted, "I don't really know, Anita. Your father received a phone call this morning, and the next thing I heard was him screaming, 'I don't know what the problem is.'" Mrs. Tonia stared back at her husband, seeing how hard he was trying to keep his tears from falling, and he finally stood up from the living room couch, already dressed in his deep blue suit, ready to leave for office work as if it were a new Friday morning, but he sighed and walked back to his room, shaking his head regretfully.

"Father!" Anita, Flora, and Favour rush up to their father, but their mother quickly stops them.

"You girls should let your father be; I will talk to him and find out what the problem really is," their mother remarked.

"Are you sure, Mom?" They inquired in confusion, wishing to see their father.

"Yes. Just give him some time. I am sure he will eventually tell us what the problem is."
