Chapter 5
The next day at Max's mansion...
The early morning sunlight penetrates the room through the window, and Ariel slowly tilts her head to see that it's morning already. She sighs briefly and runs her fingers through her messy hair, groaning tiredly. Recalling the incident of the previous night, a smile lace up her lips. She has never felt so good all her life, and she enjoyed every bit of it yesterday.
Looking to the side of the bed, she sighs briefly as an empty space welcomes her. Maybe if he were to be her boyfriend or husband, he would've been by her side and sleeping peacefully, and maybe she may have all the time to stare at his handsome face, but too bad that he can never be hers. He belongs to someone else.
Realizing that she has to go to the hospital to get the test result, she quickly stands up from the bed and drags herself into the bathroom, while holding the duvet to her naked body. Her vaginal feel sore after the sex, but she can still manage to walk.
After having a bath which lasted for a couple of minutes, she strides back into the room and gets dressed, leaving her room afterward. Turns out that both Alicia and Max had gone to work, so she's only here with the maid, Lisa.
Standing at the roadside a few minutes later, she flags down a cab that takes her to the hospital. As the cab drives down the road, she can't help the many questions that keep parading on her mind. Her life isn't as smooth as she has planned it. Just nine years ago when she was just ten, she always imagined how her life will be. She planned that she'll get into college as soon as she graduates from high school, she wanted to become so successful, and own a company in her name as the CEO, and finally put a smile on her hard-working mom's face, but wishes were never horses, so it may never come true for her.
"We're here," The cab man's voice pulls her back to reality, and she hops out of the car. After she pays the cab man, she walks over to the entrance door of the hospital and makes her way into the lobby. It's still early in the morning, but the hospital is already crowded with many people.
"Excuse me. I'm here to see the doctor," She walks over to the receptionist where a young lady is standing behind the counter and scribbling down something on a paper.
"Do you have an appointment with him?" The young lady asks as she raises her gaze to look at Ariel while having a questioning look on her face.
"Yes. He asked me to come see him today," Ariel replies, and the lady nods her head.
"You should wait for him a few minutes. The doctor is busy now," The lady points to a chair for her to sit on while waiting for the doctor.
"Thank you," She finally walks over to the long bench and sits carefully on it.
A few minutes later, one of the nurses finally came to call her attention, and she went to the doctor's office.
Stopping in front of the doctor's office, she takes a deep breath before she pushes the door open, and walks in.
"Oh, you're here? Please sit," The doctor smiles at her politely, as he gestures for her to sit on the chair across from him.
"Thank you, doc," She sits on the chair.
"The result is out..." She raises her gaze to look at the doctor, with curiosity written all over her.
"I don't know why you haven't shown any sign yet. You're two weeks pregnant," the doctor finally drops the news as he searches the heap of files on his desk, until he gets to her own, and picks it up. He hands it over to her.
"Thank you," She smiles at him forcefully, as she takes the file from him, and without bothering to open it, she stands up and ambles out of the office, closing the door gently behind her.
Holding the brown envelope tightly in her hand, tears drop from her eyes as she drags her feet to the exit door. She feels so empty and has no idea what to think. She tries to understand her emotions, but it's just difficult to do it. What will become of her now that she's pregnant?
Dragging her feet out of the hospital, she collided with someone and staggers back.
"Are you OK, miss?" The sweet masculine voice disrupts her thoughts, and she slowly raises her gaze to look at the handsome man standing in front of her. Although his face is blurred out, but she can still see how handsome and charming he looks. This is obviously not Max, but he looks a bit like him.
"Hmm..." She nods her head and without waiting to hear another word from the man, she drags her feet past him and heads to the side of the road to take a cab home.
Standing at the side of the road for ten minutes without any hope of getting a cab, she drags her feet down the road until she is finally able to spot a cab, and stops it.
The drive to the house was filled with sadness and emptiness as she kept asking herself many questions that she couldn't come up with answers to.
Twenty minutes later, the cab hauls over in front of the mansion, and she hops out of the cab. She pays the cabby, before walking her way to the building.
She climbs the staircase lazily once she gets to the living room, and heads straight to her room. Crashing her back against the wall as soon as she walks into her room, tears stream down her cheeks as she tightens her grip around the brown envelope.
'We have a little problem making babies, so you're going to help us out. You belong to us now, so you can't say no to us. Your parents already gave their consent' recalling Alicia's words, her heart wrenches in pain. Is this how she's going to live for the rest of her life? Isn't she ever going to do anything with her life except being their baby breeder?
Finally opening the brown envelope, she brings out the white paper and glances through it, but her eyes almost pop out of their sockets when she sees the bearer of the result. It has Alicia's name on it..Chapter 6The next day..."Are you sure about this?" Alicia asks for the umpteenth time as their car pulled over at the parking lot of Mr. Dante's mansion."You don't have to be nervous, babe. Everything will be fine," Max assures her, and she nods her head as they both hop out of the car. They stride to the entrance door and ring the doorbell. Moments later, the door pulls open, revealing a woman in her mid-sixties. She's Mr. Dante's housekeeper."Good day, ma'am Cleo," Max greets her politely, and the woman smiles at them warmly. Madam Cleo used to be Maxwell's nanny after the death of his mom years ago. After Max moved out of the house to build a family of his, the woman had to take on the job of helping Mr. Dante out with the house chores and also cook for him."Please come in," She opens the door wide for them, and they both walk inside. The sparkling neat large living room welcomes the both of them. It has been a while since they were last here and the place is only getting more
Chapter 7Two months later... Max has successfully taken over the companies and things have been moving smoothly for the past two months. Ariel still lives with them, but she hasn't been happy as the thought of eventually giving up her child keeps haunting her every second that ticks. It's a beautiful evening and the atmosphere is conducive for a balcony. Staring up at the dark sky, she sighs for the umpteenth time as she holds the rail. So many thoughts parade through her mind and she can't help another sigh that tears through her throat. The thought of her mom flashes through her mind, and a drop of tears slid down the corner of her cheek as she bites her bottom lip sadly. As much as she dislikes her for doing this to her, she still can't help but miss her. She has no idea why she was suddenly cruel to her, but one thing she will never forget is that there was a time that she lived her life for her, a time that her mom protected and sacrificed her happiness to make her happy. But
Chapter 8"You can't do that, Max. I disagree with you!" Alicia yells angrily as she barges into the room and paces angrily. "Come on, babe... You know deep inside you that I'm doing the right thing...""The right thing? Do you have any idea what you're about to do at all? This wasn't what we planned. What if something happens to the baby?" She asks angrily, crossing her arms on her chest, and he sighs briefly. "Nothing of such will happen, babe. I promise you that the baby will be fine, OK? I know why you're worried, and I assure you that everything will be fine, OK?" He speaks to her softly, as he places his hands on her shoulder. An awkward silence assumes the air as Alicia just stares at her husband with a suspicious look. She has been feeling like something is not right about her husband. She was worried that Ariel might eventually take her husband away from her, and now he's getting all worked up about her, what's going on? "Are you in love with her?" She suddenly asks out o
Chapter 9Staring at her reflection in the mirror, she sighs for the umpteenth time and tucks her hair behind her ear. It's going to be her first day at work today, and she feels awkward. She hasn't done this before, and neither does she know how it works. She never imagined that she'd ever get to work as a secretary. Of course, she knows that the job wasn't given to her because of her qualification, but she's still confused about why Max would do that. Even if he wanted to help her, he could've gotten her a job somewhere else, right? Taking a deep breath, she finally picks up her phone which Max got for her a couple of days ago, before she ambles out of the room, closing the door gently behind her. Her heels click on the floor as she walks along the hallway, and soon, she descends from the staircase. She looks extremely beautiful in her black suit which reveals her curvy shape. Her thick black long curled hair is falling freely over her shoulders with some strands resting on her for
Chapter 10Ariel Williams Dragging myself into my room tiredly, I plunge myself into the bed and sigh in relief. It was just my first day at work today, and I feel so exhausted. It was nice working in the company, and I'm glad that I'm already coping with the teachings that the system has been offering me. Whoever programmed the system must be a pro at this. I mean, it was so detailed and I didn't need anyone to explain anything to me. The sound of my ringing phone pulls my attention, and I glance at it before reaching out to it lazily. A strange number displays on the screen, and I pull a puzzled look as I wonder who must be the owner of the number. I was warned strictly not to converse with anyone aside from Max and his wife, so I never bothered to give any of my colleagues my number, even as one of them requested for it. I watch the phone ring and the call drops dead, but barely two seconds passed before the phone starts ringing again with the same number displayed on the screen.
Chapter 11A few hours later... Ariel tosses on the bed for the umpteenth time, as she forces her eyes open. She suddenly opens them again as she stares up at the white ceiling. It's almost midnight and she has been trying to get some sleep for hours, but it doesn't seem like it'll be possible, and she's already feeling frustrated. "Shit!" She curses under her breath as she sits up on the bed and leans against the wall as she runs her fingers through her hair. "Why can't I sleep?" She mumbles angrily to herself before she sighs briefly. She glances over to the wall clock and realizes that it's already 10:55pm, which means that she's supposed to have been asleep by now.Her stomach suddenly grumbles, and she clutches it tightly and yawns tiredly. Gosh! She's hungry again. She snorts angrily as she swings her legs down the bed and gets on her feet, dragging herself out of the room afterward. She's just three weeks pregnant and she's eating this much, she can't help wondering what it'
Chapter 12Three days later at Mr. Dante's company Mr. Dante is sitting behind his desk and has all of his attention on the desktop as his hands get busy on the keyboard. He's smart, hardworking, and dedicated to his work for a sixty-five years old man. He has been in the business for years and turns out that it has always been his first priority. The door suddenly bursts open and Max barges into the office, looking angry with a deep frown on his face. "What is the problem this time, Max?" Mr. Dante asks sarcastically, not raising an eyebrow to check out who just barged into his office. Of course, he was expecting him to be here after he got the news, so he's not surprised that he came to his office so suddenly. "What is the meaning of that, dad? Why did you restrict the account of the Villa? I need to work on a project there, and you know it. Why are you doing this? You tricked me into this. Why the hell do you never tell me that you didn't sign the contract for all the propertie
Chapter 13Ariel Williams After a long day at work, it's finally closing time and I just rounded my work up. Max already left for an appointment he said to be having with his dad, so his office has been empty for almost an hour now. Finally striding out of the office after I locked it, I head straight to the massive gate. There are very few workers left in the company, which means that I have spent more than enough time here. "Hey, Ariel. Mind joining me?" My colleague, the head of the marketing department says to me as soon I step out of the exit door. She's already standing beside her car with the keys in her hand. "No, I'll be fine. I have to go somewhere before I head home. Thank you," I say to her politely as I smile at her. I don't know why she has been trying to get close to me at all costs. She's always looking for one way or the other to talk to me, but too bad that I'm restricted. I wouldn't want ma'am Wendy to know that I'm talking with strangers. That's going to be rea
