“Huh?” Irene scrunched her face in confusion.

“It’s better you go in another car,” the guard refused to repeat himself and forced Irene into the other car.

Irene opened her mouth to protest when the guard settled into the driver’s seat, but she shut it as two other people got into the car; one on the backseat along with her and another occupying the passenger seat.

Now with three strange guards in one car, exuding powerful auras, Irene couldn’t help but shrink into herself.

‘Why do I have to be the one to get into a car with these guys? What if they toss me out while driving? Look at their faces, they’re like hardened criminals!’ Irene raged internally as she couldn’t whine aloud.

The men didn’t actually look like ‘hardened criminals’, it was just Irene’s perception as they were all tall with broad frames and had serious expressions on their faces.

There was no way Irene could tell that they were uncomfortable riding with her since they didn’t know her identity but had been instructed to watch over her closely.

Irene resolved to pretend that she wasn’t in a car with three strong werewolves to protect her mind from running wild with overthinking. She focused her attention on the outside world through the window the moment the car engine came alive.

They drove out of the parking lot and left the venue for the mating ball. Irene wondered how far their destination was. She remembered Adam telling the guards outside the small room that they were heading to Elder Noel’s place.

“I wonder who Elder Noel is…” Irene thought.

She only realized that she’d spoken her thoughts out loud when the guard next to her said, “She’s one of the seven elders of Jupiter Pack.”

Irene quickly looked at the guard. Forgetting her initial perception of him and the others, she inquired, “Seven elders…?”

The guard seated on the passenger seat took the mantle of satisfying Irene’s curiosity.

“Along with the alpha, there are seven elders who make up the council that govern Jupiter Pack. Each of them are learned in different fields of study. Elder Noel is best known for her knowledge in all things concerning the union of werewolves.”

“Oh…” Irene said with a hint of enlightenment in her tone.

Jupiter Pack was really put together. Irene’s pack, Pluto Pack, had nothing like elders or a council governing them. The one with the final say was their slimy alpha who actually never gave a say on anything.

Werewolves in Pluto Pack were free to do as they pleased as long as they didn’t make trouble with other packs and kept their bad behaviour within the pack.

Irene suddenly felt jealous of Jupiter Pack and its members. She threw an envious look at the three guards in the car with her.

The guards who had received a stink eye from Irene after providing answers to her questions were at a loss for how to react.

Luckily for them, they reached their destination in a few minutes and were spared from the strange omega.

Irene was the first to alight the vehicle, not waiting for her door to be opened by any of the guards. Her first thought of her current location was that it was very homely.

The car that Adam had rode in was parked in front of them on the road. And before it was a bungalow house with a nicely trimmed lawn. The lights inside the house were lit up, indicating that the residents were still awake.

Irene felt that Elder Noel must be a very good person. At the front door of the house was a plaque saying, ‘Welcome, sweetheart.’

She beamed brightly, believing that she was a sweetheart. Her smile soon faded when she heard the words, “Why are you standing there with a silly smile on your face?”

Irene looked away from the door and shifted her gaze to the source of the question who was standing in front of her. Adam’s expression as he stared at Irene showed that he thought her to be an idiot.

This was enough to wipe the traces of the smile on her face and have her slouch her shoulders before she mumbled sadly, “No reason.”

“You’re smiling for no reason?” Adam questioned.

Her response had gotten Adam to paint her as a complete idiot in his head. Irene wanted to change her words, but Adam sighed and spoke up first.

“Let’s just go in and get this over with,” he said with a resigned tone.

Irene nodded her head, eager to move on from the awkward atmosphere that she had created.

Thereafter, Adam instructed the guards to scout the area and keep watch before he advanced towards the front door. Irene tailed him quietly all throughout.

When they reached the door, Adam didn’t even knock before the door opened. Irene’s lips parted as she discovered that there was actually no one behind the door.

It had magically opened on its own! Whoa!

Adam stepped into the house, seeming unfazed by this unnatural phenomenon. Adam navigated his way around the house like he was more than familiar with it.

The straight hallway after the door led to an open space that could be regarded as the living room. There, on the largest couch in the room sat a gentle-looking woman.

Irene assumed the woman to be in her late 70s or early 80s from the wrinkles on her face. Straight, long, gray hair fell over the woman’s shoulders, and her black eyes carried a hint of knowingness.

There was a trace of a smile on her lips as she stood up and bowed with grace.

“Alpha Adam, it’s a pleasure to have you in my home,” the woman said courteously.

Irene, who had been ignored, raised her brows in disbelief and thought, ‘It’s a pleasure to have a killing machine in your home?’

She almost snorted aloud but held herself back. Though Adam hadn’t killed anyone yet in front of Irene, the fact that he could kill anyone remained in the back of her mind.

“You can have a seat. I mind linked the issue to you before coming so you must have a general idea of what’s going on and have come up with a solution already.” Adam went straight to business.

“This is Irene, the mate I told you about,” Adam introduced Irene, then looked at her and said, “This is Elder Noel.”

Irene stepped forward and put out her hand for a shake, but she was left hanging. Elder Noel only scrutinized her from head to toe, then shifted her gaze to Adam.

“I can’t do anything for you.”

No. No. No. No. No. No.There couldn’t be something wrong with their mate bond. If there was, that meant Irene wouldn’t be able to be with Desmond ever again!“Are you sure? Maybe it’s–”“I’m sure,” Adam abruptly cut Irene off, then backed away from her, “Come with me.”He didn’t give any explanation as he turned around and marched towards the only door in the room.“Hey! Wait, wait, wait, wait! Where are you going? Let’s try again!” Irene ran up to Adam and stopped behind him.He craned his neck in her direction and said, “I’m not trying again. There’s something wrong here. It’s best to meet someone who’s knowledgeable about mate bonds so they can tell us more.”Irene looked at Adam, finding it difficult to grasp the entire situation. She couldn’t believe that the problem they were facing with the rejection was so superficial that they needed external intervention.“What if there isn’t anything wrong with the bond?” Irene asked with a small voice.Irritation crept onto Adam’s express

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Silly Omega   07: Do it with passion!

It wasn’t like Irene had already fallen for Adam because he was a very handsome and cool man, as opposed to the tales she’d heard about him and didn’t want to part with him so soon.Irene didn’t want Adam to reject her for the obvious reason—the pain! The pain of getting rejected was excruciating. The day Desmond had rejected her, Irene had drifted in and out of consciousness for over ten hours because she couldn’t bear the amount of pain that she passed through.Rejection hurt. Physically, mentally, and spiritually.Irene didn’t want to go through it again. Even if it meant being with an alpha like Adam who was the very definition of terrifying.“I won’t accept,” Irene spoke up with a small voice, responding to Adam’s rejection offer.Adam frowned. “Why won’t you?”“Because rejection is painful. And my wolf soul finally feels secure again. I don’t want to be rejected. It hurts,” Irene explained, recalling her rejection experience which caused her eyes to water.Adam’s gloved hands vi

“We have to address the issue at hand,” said Irene’s new mate with a severe expression.‘The issue of you already knowing my name??’ Irene responded internally. Outwardly, she cleared her throat and nodded dumbly.“You caused a scene at my ball and turned out to be my mate,” the man said, the look on his face was ironic.“I didn’t mean to. I just wanted to get Desmond back,” Irene spoke quietly, not even daring to hold the man’s gaze.“Desmond?” he inquired.“My… first mate.” Irene lifted her head.“Ah, him,” a flash of recognition crossed the man’s handsome features, “I still don’t understand how you could get another mate right after getting rejected by one.”He was mostly talking to himself as he spoke in whispers. Irene heard him. She, too, couldn’t understand why any of this was happening. She didn’t want a new mate. She didn’t want any alpha. She wanted Desmond. Even though he didn’t want her back.Irene clenched her fists as she recalled the events that transpired before she go

“Soulmate.” An almost inaudible sound escaped from the man’s mouth. Irene couldn’t believe her ears and heart. How could he be her mate? How could she have a second mate? How could–“Alpha, what should we do with her?” Irene wasn’t able to complete her thoughts as three large guards surrounded her, aiming to deal with her in a negative way.Her pupils constricted.‘No. It can’t be. He can’t be,’ she tried to convince herself that her ears heard the wrong thing. It was impossible for this man to be an alpha when she, herself, was already an omega. It was impossible for an alpha to be mated to an omega. At least, that was what Irene believed till now. The man lifted his hand and gestured for the guards to back up, his eyes never leaving Irene’s figure. His gaze on her was scrutinizing and hostile. Like he couldn’t be bothered about her existence but felt like he should be concerned about it.“Get up,” he said, his voice smooth and deep.“Huh?” Irene’s mouth fell open in confusion.“G

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Silly Omega   04: Is It Life?

“Desmond, you’re–”“What are you doing here?” Desmond was wearing a very hostile expression on his face as he reached Irene.Irene’s courage wavered. “I c-came to see you. Look at me.”Desmond’s eyes raked her figure. As impressive as Irene thought she looked, Desmond didn’t seem moved by her appearance at all.“If you know what’s good for you, you’re going to leave this place now,” Desmond advised—warned—with a low-pitched tone. Finally feeling the many eyes set on her, both judging and inquiring, Irene suddenly felt small. But she still had a goal to achieve. She couldn’t come all the way here and leave without her mate.“Desmond, listen to me. I know you feel like I’m undeserving of you, but I can assure you that I am. I truly am,” she reached to touch Desmond’s hand as she spoke, “If you can just come back with me, I’ll–”“Don’t be ridiculous,” Desmond slapped her hand away with a deep frown marring his handsome features. Then he glanced around them, facing the guests of the event

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Silly Omega   03: I'm Perfect

Irene stared at her reflection on the mirror hanging on the wall. She was wearing the gown given to her by the hoodie girl, along with a few accessories that Desmond had once gifted her.Her wavy light brown hair fell over her shoulders, and her face was lightly painted with makeup to enhance her features. Her look was refreshing and beautiful. If one was able to ignore the dirty white sneakers on her feet, they would realize that she almost looked like someone from a classy pack.Irene tried not to look at her own feet. She convinced herself that the state of the sneakers didn’t matter as she was too clumsy to walk on heels that she didn’t even own.“Okay. This is perfect. I’m perfect,” she said to her reflection on the mirror with a bright smile on her maroon-painted lips.‘Are you sure you are?’ A small voice in the back of Irene’s head questioned. The smile on her lips faltered.“I-I am!” She nodded her head in strong belief. Then she covered her ears with her palms and yelled, “

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Silly Omega   02: Hoodie Girl

Irene was sitting in front of the counter at a rundown bar place. The walls of the bar were painted dark red with the heads of several wild beasts hanging on them as prizes. The bar was almost empty with about five people scattered around the wooden tables and chairs. Irene was the only person sitting on a bar stool. And she was the only one with tears streaming down her cheeks as she emptied several beer cans.“You’re scaring my customers away with your ugly crying,” the female bartender, who was boldly bald and rocking a millions tattoos crawling up both arms extending to her neck, said to Irene.Irene obviously wasn’t the most beautiful girl in the world, but her delicate facial features consisting of a pair of bright green irises, scanty long lashes, straight button nose, and soft pink lips made her at least pleasing to the eyes. However, when she cried, her eyes would puff up, her nose would turn red, and the size of her lips would nastily increase, granting her the look of an

  • The Cursed Alpha and His Silly Omega   01: Prologue

“I don’t want you anymore.” Irene, who had been cooking up dinner in the small kitchen of their cozy one-room apartment, heard those words from her mate as she lifted her head to welcome him home. “Excuse me?” she said in confusion, her brows furrowed.Desmond, a guy who was about a hundred and eighty centimeters tall with a buzzcut and a good-looking face, was Irene’s mate for three years and counting. She knew very well that he was not the kind of guy who dallied in making jokes.“I don’t want you as my mate anymore.” Desmond clarified. Irene snorted in amusement as she turned off the cooker and wiped her hands clean with a rag. Then she stepped out of the kitchen aisle and walked over to Desmond, wrapping her arms around his waist without a care.“It’s too late for jokes, darling. Dinner is ready. I’ll set your dish, okay?” She looked up at him smiling, dismissing his words.Desmond did not return her smile. His dark brown eyes were drawn into narrow slits as he stared at her wi
