10. Full moon

Gianna

A thick silence fell in the room as the woman chants her words of sorcery. All the while he kept advancing small glares to my way. I didn't miss how his jaw was clenching and unclenching. The woman kept on with what she was doing for more than five minutes before she later unwind her eyes.

"Are you ready master Valen?" She asked her gaze landing on him.

"You know I am. I hope there won't be any problem like you said last time. I need to reach there before my father take the wrong decision" He sat up. That was when I noticed he wasn't wearing that robe. He was dressed into a normal outfit. I wouldn't deny he looked better in them.

"There won't be. The full moon will appear in fifteen minutes. I suggest we wait at the gate. You know it doesn't stay for long"

"Let's go then"

And we all proceed to move out of the house. Valen stop turning to me. "Where are you going?" He asked accessing me from head to toe.

"To the gates. Why?" I asked my brows furrowing.

"If you follow us to the gate, you're leaving straightforward from there" My mouth was left open at his statement.

"Ofcourse I'm leaving but after I've gotten what I came for" He didn't say anything instead step out followed by the sorcerer then Vito. I was the last to follow suit.

The air suddenly felt somehow. Windy mixed with haze. The surrounding was menacely quite with our foot walking on the ground being the only sound making out. I wrapped my arms around my body as we walk our way towards the gates. I could hear the low voice of Adelaide chanting. My eyes shifted to Valen who was taking small steps as if afraid the ground will swallow him while Vito tall figure was backing him up. On his right hand was a sword. What could he doing with it? We're not in the olden days. Judging by the place, I don't think they'd be any enemies around.

As we neared the gate, Adelaide stopped making the rest to follow her heed. "Master Valen take this" She opens up her palms. A white mixed with black bead lay on her palms. Valen grabbed the small bead without question. "This bead is what will protect you outside this gates. It has the powers of the four sacred cave. Make sure you keep it with you all time"

Wow, I have to admit I was piqued at what was going on. It made me curious to know who he is. And why the sorcerer is giving him something to protect himself.

Gianna, mind your business. You're here to find out about your parents not about Valen and his own problems.

"You know if it's for my safety, I don't play around. Vito?" He called.

"Yes Master" Vito marched forward. "Keep an eye on her as soon as the gate open send her back"

"Yes Master"

"Wait... Escort who? I'm not done here yet. You can go ahead to wherever you want to go" My eyes darted left to right with the look he gave me.

"Vito do as I say"

"I'm not going anywhere" I said again.

"Don' argue with me girl. I've given you a chance last time. I'm not doing that again. You're in my zone don't forget that"

"W-"

"Enough. Since she insist, we'll allow her. But don't blame us for whatever follows" A smile broke at my lips at her words. Which means I have a hope of getting something from her.

"She'd have to deal with it herself" He grumbled under his breath. And I rolled my eyes in return.

Silence was then maintained. The weather began changing. The clouds was no longer bright. Somehow I felt heat radiating inside me. Like a hot water has been splashed on me. I rubbed my temple as I felt a sharp pain visited my head.  I tried to keep calm yet, the pain increases. I wince in pain biting my bottom lip. What is happening to me? I was fine before.

"What is wrong with you girl?" Adelaide’s voice revamped to my eardrums like a microphone. The voice was faraway.

Nothing to keep me balance which made me wobble back on the ground my vision turning blurring. The pain got more intense below my heart. "Argh!" I muffled out in a low voice. The last thing before I seize out was the sound of the gate.

I opened my eyes to an unfamiliar ceiling. A cough escaped me. I tried to lift up myself only to be stopped. "You're still weak girl" Adelaide’s voice charged to my eardrums. That was when everything began coming back to me.

I remembered we were waiting for the full moon to appear so Valen could leave and then I will talk to Adelaide about my parents and leave. "What happened?"

"You fell unconscious the moment the full moon appears"

"Why?"

"Well, that was why I said you have an extraordinary blood running in your veins. Somehow Valen couldn't pass through the gates too" I was confused at her statement. What do I have to do with the full moon? Whe-

The festival. I discarded the covers from my body and got out of bed. I'm still feeling light pain below my chest. I need to go back real quick before they notice something. "It's too late" My foot came to an abrupt stop.

Adelaide marched up to me. "You won't be able to leave. Same way Valen couldn't get pass through the gates"

"Why? I thought I was able to do that even before the full moon appears. What are you trying to say"

"Well, I came to know about it. The moon goddess has sealed the gates. You won't be able to leave" I felt my inside burn. I haven't tried it yet to jump to conclusions. I ignored the woman and made a walk out of the room. I don't care how I was barely walking straight. I didn't care to look at the lady that I almost bumped into.

I charged towards the door flinging it open. "This cannot be possible" I muffled out as I walk my way towards the gate. The thought of not going back sending weakness down my body. No one knows I was out. "I need to get back real quick"

My foot came to a halt in front of the gate. I heaved in and out a deep breath. "Gianna be calm. The gates will open up" I placed my hand over my chest and stepped forward. I slowly reached for the door. I pulled it yet, it didn't open. I tried again. Same. Glued. Too many attempt but all in vain. My breathing hitched. What is going on? Did I get stucked here?
