Reina’s POV

The moment I stepped into my room, exhaustion hit me like a ton of bricks. It wasn’t even lunchtime, and I already wanted to curl up under the covers and sleep the rest of the day away. Maybe finish that book I’d been reading all week. Anything to forget, even for a little while, the nightmare I was living.

My wrist still aches and I debated attending to it. But first, I had to make a call.

I pulled out the secret phone the police had given me and dialed the number immediately.

The line barely rang before the officer picked up.

"Do you have anything for us?" His tone was sharp, straight to business.

I took a steady breath. "I’ve changed my mind," I whispered, gripping the phone tightly. "I want out. I’ll go to court, get a lawyer—anything but this!"

Silence. Then a slow exhale from the other end.

"Do we look like a joke to you?" the officer finally said, voice cold. "It might interest you to know that you're no longer just a murder suspect, but the murderer."

  • The Devil's Nurse   Choosing Abby

Cassian’s POVWhat the actual fuck?Right in my home, by the corner of the living room, Abby was on her knees, a bucket of water balanced on her head. I froze. Anger and confusion slammed through me so fast I couldn’t move at first. Her little arms trembled from the effort, her small fingers struggling to keep the bucket steady. Then I saw who sat in front of her. Candy or whatever her name is. Her eyes narrowed, a sneer sitting perfectly on her face as she stared down at my daughter.Everything else blurred out. I turned sharply and marched toward them, each step heavier than the last.“What the hell is going on here?” I growled before I even reached them.Candy flinched like a thief caught red-handed. Abby was sniffling, tear tracks dried against her cheeks. Lucas didn’t waste a second…he ran to her, lifted the bucket off her head, and pulled her into his arms. She folded into him, shaking, her breathing uneven and harsh.I saw red.“Can you tell me why my daughter was kneeling in f

  • The Devil's Nurse   Going Old School For Her

Cassian’s POVLucas’s grin never left his face. That stupid, triumphant smirk like he’d just discovered the perfect crime.I wanted to wipe it off with my fist so badly. But I controlled myself.“You’re enjoying this too much,” I said through gritted teeth. He shrugged, like the whole thing was a joke and we were two kids about to pull the best prank of our lives.“I’m just trying to help, boss,” he said and I sighed.“Get on with it, Lucas,” I said, already dreading his grand idea.“Boss, this is a matter of the heart. She feels cheated, betrayed and hurt. In fact…utterly disappointed in you.” He paused and looked at me like he expected me to blink or or anything remotely human. But I growled instead. I knew she felt all that. I didn’t need Lucas spelling it out like I’d failed at the one job that mattered more than anything…keeping her by my side.“That being said,” he went on, leaning against my desk like some self-appointed love guru who’d been practicing in the mirror all mornin

  • The Devil's Nurse   Aftertaste of Her Absence

Cassian’s POVThe moment the robe hit the floor, my body moved on instinct. I closed the distance between us in a blur…heat, breath, need. My hands caught her before my mind could. The feel of her, the weight of her in my arms, sent a shudder through me so violent I almost dropped her.“Fuck, I’ve missed you,” I breathed against her hair. Her scent…faint vanilla and jasmine…filled my lungs like oxygen after drowning. I pulled her close, desperate to feel something real, something that wasn’t the ache of her absence or the chaos in my heart. Her lips met mine…or maybe I took them…but it was like striking a match in a room full of gasoline. I led her to the bed in a frenzy, my whole body trembling with need. “Why did you leave me, Reina? Fuck I’ll make you pay,” I groaned as I began unbuckling my belt in a haste. I leaned forward again as I worked on taking off my trouser to get more taste of her, my mouth hungrily claiming her breast. For a second, I could almost believe she’d come b

  • The Devil's Nurse   Shattering In Her Absence

Cassian’s POV“Reina, Come here… please,” I screamed again. But silence answered me. The study felt hollow. I muttered, “Fuck,” and it felt like an accusation I couldn’t throw away.I needed her. I needed a distraction or I’d lose what was left of my mind. My chest tightened until I could barely breathe. “I need to go to Reina,” I growled out loud, my voice a low painful sound. “I need a fucking distraction or I’ll lose my goddamn mind.”I stormed down the hall toward my room. I threw the door open expecting warmth, expecting her…open, waiting for me to drown in her river. But the bed was empty. Cold. Sheets smoothed as if no one had been there. Her scent was not even in the room. Like she never stepped in.I crossed my room and kicked open the door to hers without thinking. It was worse. Not the kind of empty that meant she was elsewhere in the house…this was the empty that meant gone. Her wardrobe was lighter. Her suitcase was gone. Her things that never left her side were missing.

  • The Devil's Nurse   Daddy’s Sin

Cassian’s POVAbigail’s little voice still hung in the air, small and trembling, a whisper that didn’t belong in a room like this.Lucas froze mid-punch, his fist hovering in the air, blood dripping from his knuckles onto the floor where Ethan lay coughing and laughing like a madman. For a second, I couldn’t move.Abigail stood there like a tiny bright thing in a ruined room, one of Annabella’s stuffed rabbits clutched to her chest. Her eyes were enormous, searching, and in that instant everything…every plan, every angry pulse…stalled beneath the weight of her face.Ethan’s grin split wide, delighted by the fracture he’d made. He let the silence sit, soaking it up like a man who’d been starved and finally tasted blood. Then he leaned back against the splintered table and, slow as winter, began to speak.“She should’ve stayed buried with Annabella,” he said with a grin. “You think you’ve got something back? That perfect little family you think you’ve gotten back… I’ll make you watch as

  • The Devil's Nurse   The Monster I Raised

Cassian’s POVEthan’s…no, Jonah’s…smirk widened as he tilted his head, eyes glinting like polished razors.“You thought you were smart,” he said, mockery dripping from every syllable. “The great Cassian Morelli, the devil they whisper about in the underworld. Tell me…” He stepped closer, slow, deliberate, predatory. “Are you shocked? Stunned? Heartbroken?”He gave a low, dark chuckle. “It’s a fucking miracle I didn’t kill you the first time you handed me a gun.”My jaw clenched so tight I could feel my molars crack under the pressure. “Careful what you wish for.”He spread his arms, laughing, his voice echoing off the concrete walls. “There it is. That tone. That righteous little bite in your words. I almost missed it.”His gaze flicked toward Lucas. “And you, lapdog…still following him around like a ghost on a leash? Does he even let you breathe without permission?”Lucas didn’t move. Didn’t blink. His hand twitched once near his gun, but I raised a hand to stop him.“No,” I said qui
