Chapter 108

Zayden

I don't remember much but I knew he always fought with my mother. I was too young to understand what they were always quarrelling about.

But now, I was beginning to get a clearer picture.

"I had a vasectomy in my early twenties. Your mother doesn't know about it, and neither did I attempt to tell her until she broke the news of her pregnancy to me." He continued.

" I was filled with rage because it only meant that she had cheated on me. I initially wanted a divorce, but she begged me not to because the Shame and degradation that would follow was too much. So I thought better of it."

He stood up, picked up his golden cane, and strolled off to the window.

"Laura was the heir to her family business, and as her husband, it's only customary that I take full control, especially if she was with child." He turned to face me, a sly smile on his lips.

"So I had a deal with her. She would hand over her family business to me and I would take you in as mine."

He strolled back to the chair and sat back down.

I kept my face even, listening to every word he was saying. His not being my real father wasn't shocking because he had never treated me like his son.

" That family business today is what the world knows as Kent Tech." He spread his arms wide, a satisfied expression on his face.

He was a lunatic.

" Everything was going well. I thought since I wouldn't be able to have a child of my own due to my infertility, then why not make you my heir? After all ,the whole world thinks you're my son. You know, I did take you as my own once. We were once a small, happy family, and I thought your mother had finally let go of that bakery boy."

His expression darkened the next second, his eyes spitting fire." You're mother became pregnant again by no other than that bakery boy. She didn't bother hiding it because we both knew I was infertile."

He took a deep breath staring at the ceiling." I didn't complain. To the public, my wife and I had a second child. So I took you both in. I tried so hard not to look at the both of you in hatred because whenever I see you both, I see that low bastard she chose over me."

My eyes ran over the room randomly because I got tired of staring at his wrinkled face.

"I was lenient with her as you both grew up. But Laura?"He paused, letting out a small laugh.

"She didn't care whether her actions were tarnishing her image or not. It was becoming unbearable for me to the point that the public already knew she wasn't faithful to me and then began questioning you and Aiden's Identity. Some were saying why, after five years of marriage, we suddenly had a child because once, during a press conference, I mentioned not wanting to have children since it was impossible for me, and then boom....you both appeared."

I threw a glare his way; I won't believe whatever shit he said about my mother, except I have proof.

He threw his hands in the air, shrugging his shoulders." If you don't believe me, then check the newspaper from nine years ago or even later. Do your research, it was all printed out in newspaper at that time."

I snorted." You wouldn't lie since I would be going to jail soon, so go on with your story; I'm quite enjoying myself."

He beamed." Well, your mother was becoming a burden. Always causing scandals, and then one time, when she got drunk at a bar, she spouted some nonsense about how I was impotent and how my boys weren't mine. It got recorded by some of her friends and aired the next day."

" I did my best to take it down, but that doubt still lingered, and I hated anything that would bring a stain to my name. You used to take her side in everything, whether she was wrong or not. You used to tell me you hated me for always yelling at her."

He leaned forward." So you see, it was you who started it. It was you who hated me first. You were a mummy's boy, so it wasn't my fault that I started to resent the both of you."

I scoffed." So Aiden had always been the good child."

He shook his head." Aiden was just nonchalant. He was obedient and doesn't give a shit about anything that doesn't concern him. Then I made my choice, it was better to invest in Aiden than you. You could turn against me once your mother says so."

" Then why did you make me take over the company and make me your heir just to disown me later," I asked.

He chuckled at you." It was all a ruse to cover up some things. Besides, I hate to say it, but you were better qualified than Aiden, and I knew that if I didn't make you both compete, Aiden wouldn't want to put in the work."

I sat back, letting my mind run over a million thoughts.

He released a deep sigh, his shoulders sagging.

" I couldn't take it anymore when your mother was pregnant with a third child. I don't know who the father was this time. And since there was already a pending question about my infertility, I couldn't let anyone find out about it. I told her to get rid of the child but she refused, She left me with no choice."

I clenched my fists, anger surging through my veins." So you killed her and the baby?"

He chuckled darkly." Don't get me wrong Zayden. I did both of us a good."

I gritted my teeth, the revelation hitting me to the core." Did you do it or not?"

He paused, his eyes trained on me, an amused expression on his face." I did. It was a lovely evening, she was doing her hair in the bathroom with you hanging around as usual. I wanted to end you both but then there was no one to blame on. It would be too suspicious."

My jaw ticked. My anger was like a ticking time bomb, waiting to explode any second.

"It was easier than I thought and satisfying. I put a knife through her heart and you watched it happen. You were too terrified to even move. Before the butlers arrived, I slipped the knife in your tiny hands just before Noah and Aiden walked through the doors."

My hands were already trembling as I stared at him in complete hatred.

" You were staring at me intently, the anger and fear in your eyes, and I knew that if Noah takes you, then you might spill it out. So I held you back, and once everyone was out of sight, I threw you down the stairs. A normal child should die from the impact, but you refused to. Instead, you lost part of your memory, which was to my advantage." An eerie smile appeared on his face.

I just sat there, my breathing so heavy that I felt my chest tighten at Intervals.

My voice cracked." Aiden....Aiden hates me because of you."

He chuckled."And that, too, was to my advantage."

I couldn't take it anymore and just let the anger take control of my mind ,body,and soul.

The next second, I sprang up from the chair and launched myself at him, aiming for his jaw.
