Chapter 33

  Cristin was dead.

On that rainy night, her body was pierced with arrows and she died in my arms.

I vaguely remembered the poisonous oath I forced her to make:

\"Then I want you to swear. Swear it with your life. Promise me that no one will know that I am pregnant!\"

\"Well, I, Cristin, swear to the heaven that I will never tell others about my lady’s pregnancy. If I violated it, I will pierce my body with arrows and die!\"

Now, the oath has been fulfilled.

She said that this was what she owed me, that it was God\'s retribution for her.

But I know, she never owed me anything.

At the last moment before her death, she held my hand and asked me to promise her not to go back to the palace. The next day, I knelt down in front of her grave in a black robe and said goodbye to her, \"Cristin, I\'m leaving now.\"
