Philip POV

“Where do you think you are going to?” Anastasia said, her voice cutting through the floor like a sharp knife. The few employees on the floor turned instantly towards the scene, their whispers dying down as their curious eyes widened, watching every move like it was some live show.

Marceline frowned and took a few steps back from her, not in fear, but with a deliberate calm that only made her look more intimidating. She stood tall, her back straight, her expression composed but sharp enough to slice through stone. Her eyes, cold and unwavering, didn’t so much as blink under Anastasia’s fury.

I rushed forward desperate to stop Anastasia before she could create more mess than she already had.

“How dare you think of firing me? Who do you think you are?” Anastasia’s voice exploded, filled with anger so raw it sounded like she would snap Marceline’s head into pieces right there. Her chest rose and fell with every heated breath, her face twisted with rage.

Marceline’s POV“How can you say that, Marceline?” I heard Philip’s voice as I walked out of the bathroom. His sudden voice startled me. I didn’t expect him to still be in this room, waiting for me to finish my bath.“What’s your problem, Philip?” I snapped, pressing my hand on my chest to calm my nerves.“How can you say that?” he asked again. His voice was sharp, cutting through the air like a knife.“Say what?” I frowned, not understanding what he meant.“How can you tell me to continue my…” he swallowed hard, like the words were bitter to his tongue, “…to continue with Anastasia?” he asked, his face full of displeasure.I raised a brow at him. I didn’t understand why he seemed so angry about what I’d said.“Why would you tell me that, Marceline?” he asked unhappily, rubbing his eyes like he was tired of himself.“You should be grateful that I’m willing to give you both this freedom,” I said calmly, reaching for my hair dryer to dry my hair.“What? Grateful?” he asked in disbelief,

Chapter 38Marceline’s POVIt was past six pm when I got home from the company, tiredly. What a day it was. I shouldn’t have stayed up till this time and worked overtime, but the financial reports had kept me. Anastasia really made a mess of that department. The accounts weren’t balancing—it was short by three million dollars. And what annoyed me most was that Philip knew and could have prevented it on time but chose what is between his two legs over reasoning.“Mummy,” Roman called me as soon as I entered the mansion.“How is my boy doing?” I said, squatting and hugging him.“I’m doing fine, Mummy. Daddy picked me up from school today,” he said happily, his eyes twinkling like the stars.“I told you, didn’t I?” I said with a smile, and he nodded happily. When it was Roman’s school dismissal time, Luke had come to my office to inform me that Philip had left to pick Roman. That was why I didn’t hurry home—I knew he would be with Roman.“You are back,” I heard Philip’s voice quietly an

  • The Game of a Married Woman    Chapter 36: The Termination Letter

Chapter 36Philip’s POVI stood by the window of my office, looking out at the city. My heart hadn’t calmed since I returned from Marceline’s office thirty minutes ago. Her reaction wasn’t what I expected. She didn’t show that she was hurt, or that she even cared, and that left me deeply worried.Bang! The door of my office was pushed open with force, startling me.“Philip, what’s the meaning of this?!” Anastasia barked angrily as she waved a paper and an envelope at me.“How can you barge into my office like that?” I snapped back, my face twisting with anger. Why would she come here now, when I was already trying to find a way to solve this situation? If she hadn’t come to my office yesterday, Marceline wouldn’t have caught us.“How could you fire me?!” she shouted, throwing the paper at me. Her voice cracked, as if she was on the verge of crying.I froze and picked it up. My eyes scanned the bold letters...it was a termination letter.“You decided to fire me because Marceline found

Marceline’s POV“Bye, Mummy,” Roman said to me with his cute smile. We were at the entrance of his school building. I had come to drop him off and would be heading to the company afterward.“Be a good boy today,” I said, rubbing his chubby cheeks with a smile.“Daddy will pick me up today, right Mummy?” he asked hopefully, and my smile almost faded, but I held it up for him and nodded. He hadn’t forgotten. I had promised him that Philip would pick him up from school.I stood and watched him walk towards his classroom. I wanted to see that he entered his class. His teacher was standing at the classroom door.“Roman!”I heard someone call him, and a boy ran past me to Roman, who had stopped when he heard his name too. I blinked, and my heart pounded because I knew the boy. He was Matthew—Dominic’s son.I slowly turned my head at the thought that he was there to drop his son, but it wasn’t him, it was a driver. I breathed out and headed to my car, but not without glancing at the sleek bl

Marceline’s POV"Mummy, we going to grandpa and grandma ?" Roman’s little voice asked."How did you know?" I asked, taken aback by his question. I didn’t tell him we were going to my parents’ house."We passed the statue of someone holding a ball," he said, and a smile tugged on my lips. There was a statue of a legendary footballer built along the road that led to my parents’ house. He must have seen it many times whenever we went there."Yes baby, we are going to see them. You missed them, right?" I asked sweetly. It had been months since I last visited my parents, and honestly, I missed them too."I missed them… but I miss Daddy too. I want to see him," he said sadly, his head lowering as his little voice grew quiet. The smile I wore vanished immediately. My heart ached as Philip came to my mind again. He hadn’t reached out to Roman since that fight."Don’t be sad, Rome. Your daddy has been busy with work, but he promised to see you tomorrow," I swallowed my hurt and said."Really?
