I had just finished talking with Arum when, all of a sudden, the atmosphere in the cafeteria changed. Everyone who had been eating, chatting, or laughing instantly fell silent. At first, I didn’t notice, but then I saw people shifting aside, making a path down the middle of the cafeteria.
Arum nudged my arm. “Yu, look over there… Garuda Steel Gang just showed up.” I automatically followed Arum’s gaze. At the cafeteria entrance, six guys walked in, moving casually like no one dared stand in their way. One of them, I knew all too well. Bin. I couldn’t take my eyes off them. They sat at the center table, which was already empty, almost like it had been reserved for them. Everyone nearby quickly moved away, not wanting to get too close. Just moments ago, that spot had been crowded. “Wow… they really are like kings here,” I muttered under my breath. Arum just nodded slightly, her eyes still locked on the gang. “There’s all six of them. In front, obviously, is Bin. I can’t believe you’re close to him, Yu.” I tensed up even more. Close? Not exactly… more like forced into marriage. Still, seeing Bin there with his gang made me feel strangely uneasy. Bin sat back casually, right in the middle seat, like he was used to being the center of attention. His friends weren’t much different, talking quietly, occasionally glancing around. But nobody dared look back at them. Everyone pretended they hadn’t noticed. “That’s why, even if you’re close to Bin, don’t ever get involved with GGS,” Arum said while munching on her siomay. “Huh? GGS? Handsome Werewolves?” I snickered, trying not to laugh. Arum glared and leaned closer. “Shhh! Don’t let them hear you! GGS stands for Garuda Steel Gang, not some soap opera. You need to memorize each of them. That guy sitting at the end? That’s Rocky. Everyone calls him Iky. Sure, he’s got a cute smile, but his mouth? Super annoying!” I instinctively glanced at Rocky, studying him more closely. His smile really was sweet, and his school uniform made him look approachable. But judging from what Arum had just said, I figured I’d better stay cautious around this guy. Still, for some reason, that cute smile only made me more curious. “Heh, I just realized… this guy’s way too cute to be in a biker gang!” I grinned at Arum. Arum stifled a laugh and shot a quick glance toward Rocky. “Cute, but even a little push could make you regret it for life. Be careful!” “Okay, but who’s that guy who’s been laughing nonstop? He doesn’t look scary at all, more like a class clown,” I asked, nodding toward one of the GGS members who’d been chuckling the whole time. “That’s Moch. Junaidi, but just call him MJ. He looks small, but don’t be fooled, he’s the oldest in the group. He repeated a grade here twice!” Arum said quickly, gulping her drink because her siomay was too spicy. “What? Failed twice? And he’s still that cheerful?” I stared, amazed at how relaxed he seemed. Arum nudged me lightly. “Don’t let the jokes fool you. When he’s in serious mode, he’s badass. If anyone messes with GGS, he’s the first to strike. A kid from the neighboring school once fought him, almost left with a limp!” she whispered, her voice barely audible. I kept watching MJ, who was still laughing, until suddenly, right while we were talking about him, he turned and looked straight at us. He was still smiling, but now his eyes felt sharper, like he knew we were talking about him. Both Arum and I froze, quickly finishing our food. “I think he knows we’re talking about him,” I whispered, lowering my head. “Let’s just go. Pay for the food, quick!” Arum urged, clearly wanting to leave before anything happened. We were done eating anyway, so it was time to head out. The only problem? To get out, we had to pass right by the GGS table. My nerves started buzzing, after all, that table was full of the most feared gang members in school, plus MJ, who had us both curious. I walked slowly, not wanting to draw their attention. But just as we were about to pass, one of the most handsome GGS members turned to look at the cafeteria menu behind him. Instinctively, I glanced over, and that’s when I saw him. Chairil Wisnu, better known as Nunu. My eyes couldn’t leave his face. There was something different about his aura compared to the others. Damn, he’s gorgeous! I thought. But Arum quickly grabbed my arm, pulling me toward the exit. “Come on, don’t linger here.” “Don’t let yourself get carried away by Nunu’s face, he’s dangerous. Total playboy,” Arum whispered, afraid he might hear. “But he’s really handsome, Rum. I’ve hardly ever seen a guy that good-looking! How did I just notice this now?” I still couldn’t believe my eyes. “Because you never pay attention! Now move, come on!” But as Arum tugged on me, my foot bumped into the leg of an empty table behind the GGS table. I lost my balance, and— “Ow!” I winced as my knee hit the floor. It hurt like crazy. “Yu!” Arum panicked and hurried to help me up. But before she could, a voice came from beside me. “You okay?” The voice was gentle yet full of concern. I turned, and there he was. Another ridiculously handsome guy who made my stomach flip. I quickly glanced at the name tag on his uniform: Haryojin Wisnu. He crouched beside me, helping me up gently. Before I could say anything, another voice called from behind him. “She’s fine, right, Jinu?” The voice was deep and firm, with a protective tone. I turned toward the tallest GGS member. That’s when I realized, the guy helping me was called Jinu. Arum also helped me up, but my focus stayed on them. “I’m fine. Thank you so much,” I said, straightening my skirt, which had gotten a little messed up from the fall. From a distance, I saw Bin just watching me, shaking his head, like he didn’t even know me. Ugh, so annoying! He could at least have asked if I was okay, right? I knew he saw everything. While I was trying to stand properly, the tall GGS member walked over and pulled a band-aid from his uniform pocket. “Here, take this,” he said coolly, handing it to me. I took the band-aid, glancing once more at the name tag on his uniform. Hasan. His face was adorably cute, but he was tall and broad, almost as tall as Bin, maybe taller. At my 160 cm height, I felt like a little kid next to him, and Arum, who was 5 cm shorter than me, looked even smaller. “Thanks, Hasan…” I said, noticing he also had a band-aid on his forehead. Arum’s earlier words flashed in my head, maybe it was from some recent battle scene. “Let’s go, Rum!” I said, starting to limp toward the restroom. Arum supported me but didn’t stop grumbling the whole way. “Seriously, can’t you watch where you’re going? Of all places to fall, you had to do it right next to them!”I cried in Bin’s arms, unable to hold back the storm of emotions inside me. The feelings of loss, fear, sadness, and anger all tangled into one. I wasn’t ready to be apart from him, even temporarily it felt like a nightmare I didn’t want to live through.Without a word, Bin slowly pulled back. The eyes that always carried so much certainty were now damp. He looked at me for a long time, as if memorizing every detail of my face, as if this might be the last time he could see me this close.“Wait for me, Yu…” he whispered, his voice almost breaking, before lowering his head and pressing a soft kiss against my lips. The kiss didn’t last long, but it was enough to make my heart ache even more. I wanted to believe everything would be fine, but the uncertainty in his words only made me afraid.I broke the kiss slowly, tears still streaming down my face. “How long?” my voice trembled.Bin sighed, his fingers brushing gently against my cheek, as if he didn’t want to leave any deeper scars in
“There they are…”The policeman’s voice reached my ears faintly, yet it was enough to make my heart race faster.I reflexively turned my head, following the direction of his finger. And there, under the glow of ambulance lights and police headlights illuminating the dusty road, three figures were walking toward us.Bin in the middle, Nunu on his right, and Hasan on his left. The evening breeze blew gently, tousling their messy hair. Their clothes were dusty, torn in several places, and streaks of dried blood clung to their faces and hands. But those wounds only made them look fiercer. Their breathing was still ragged, yet their strides were steady, as if refusing to show the pain weighing down their bodies.I froze in place. My eyes couldn’t leave Bin.“Bin…”His name slipped from my lips, fragile, almost like a choked sob.And at that moment, my tears broke free.I couldn’t hold it back anymore. My shoulders trembled, my hand shot up to cover my mouth, muffling the sobs I couldn’t co
The faint wail of an ambulance finally reached us from afar, growing louder with every second. A small sense of relief washed over me, but the knot of worry in my chest refused to loosen. When the ambulance stopped near the rice fields, a group of medics jumped out, carrying a stretcher. Their steps were swift and precise as they hurried toward the hut where we had taken shelter.Trailing behind them, several police officers followed. Their uniforms stood out sharply against the golden fields, dimming under the glow of the setting sun.Their arrival should’ve made me feel safe. But it didn’t.Siska quickly helped Rocky onto the stretcher, making sure his wounds were stabilized. His face was still pale, but he was fighting hard to stay conscious.“I’ll go with Iky,” Siska said briskly, climbing into the ambulance beside him.Meanwhile, Arum wrapped an arm around me, guiding me out of the hut and across the narrow ridges of the rice field toward the roadside. I had no idea how bad my ow
I was already running through the rice fields, my breath ragged, chest heaving up and down. But beside me, Rocky was in even worse shape.“Damn…” Rocky hissed weakly. I glanced down and saw the small dagger still lodged in his calf. Blood was starting to seep out more heavily now.Panic hit me.I quickly pulled a handkerchief from my pocket and tied it around Rocky’s calf to keep the blade from shifting as we moved. Hasan immediately helped, massaging Rocky’s shoulder to keep him conscious.“Just hold on a little longer, Ky. We’re almost there,” Hasan said, trying to stay calm though I knew he was just as worried. We kept moving. The muddy fields made every step heavier. Each time Rocky stumbled, he winced, sweat streaming down his pale face. Finally, the hut was in sight. Siska and Arum were waiting there. As soon as they spotted us, they rushed over.“Iky! Oh my God!” Siska gasped at the sight of the dagger still stuck in Rocky’s leg. Her eyes widened, but she quickly steadied herse
Bin didn’t give the pierced guy a chance to get up. Breathing heavily, he smashed his fist into the man’s face again and again.THUD! THUD!Bin’s punches kept coming, no pause, no mercy. Time seemed to slow down.I froze, my heart sinking. This wasn’t the Bin I knew. This wasn’t him. His eyes were dark, burning with rage. His jaw was locked tight, his movements brutal, completely out of control.“AAARRGGHH!!” the pierced guy groaned, but Bin didn’t care. He kept pounding, grabbing the man’s collar, lifting him slightly, then striking harder.“BIN, STOP! ENOUGH! DON’T KEEP GOING! PLEASE! IF YOU DO THIS, YOU’RE NO DIFFERENT FROM THEM!”My voice cracked through the air. I didn’t care how terrified I had been. I didn’t care about the pain I’d just endured. The only thing I cared about now was Bin.His fist froze midair. His breathing was ragged, chest heaving. His eyes still burned with fury, but… his shoulders slowly dropped.I watched his jaw tighten, his expression shift, like he’d jus
“I’m giving you one last chance to surrender nicely.” He crouched in front of me, his face just an inch away.“Save the crap, you’re not gonna win.” I took a deep breath, my mind racing for a way out.I knew Bin had to be looking for me right now. I just needed to hold on until he came. But before I could think any further, the guy lunged, his hand reaching for my chin.I jerked my head aside and kicked out as hard as I could to push him away.“You bitch!” he roared, gripping my shoulders so tight it hurt. Pain shot through me, but I refused to give in.Suddenly—BANG!The warehouse door burst open. The loud crash made the pierced guy whip his head around.I turned too, my breath ragged with fear.“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?!”That voice, I knew it. My eyes went wide when I saw him standing at the doorway.ROCKY!His eyes burned with rage, his breathing rough like he’d just sprinted. Blood stained the corner of his lip, a bruise darkened his temple, he must’ve fought his way here to
