Chapter 3

ผู้เขียน: Myosotis
I woke up in the hospital.

Outside the door, Ethan said, “Is she awake?”

Ryan scoffed. “Jenny was terrified all night. Alara only burned her arm.”

Julian said, “That’s not the problem. The problem is whether she’ll complain to Mason.”

So they were not here for me. They were here to keep me quiet.

The door opened.

Julian placed a folder beside my bed. “Private room extension. Sign it. I’ll pay.”

Ryan dropped a tablet on the table. “Your accounts are restored.”

Ethan put down a black card. “Use it.”

I looked at them. “Why are you really here?”

Ethan paused. “Jenny may lose her foundation appointment.”

Julian opened the folder. “The equipment incident has to be reported. If you sign this statement, it becomes an accident caused by your own mistake.”

Ryan added, “Then Jenny’s name stays out of it.”

I understood. They wanted my silence on paper.

“I won’t sign.”

Ethan frowned. “Alara.”

“She caused the accident herself.”

Ryan snapped, “She’s already scared. Why do you have to ruin her future too?”

Julian said, “This statement won’t hurt you. Mason will protect you anyway.”

“So I deserve to take the blame?”

Ethan stepped closer. “If you sign it, I’ll marry you.”

I almost laughed. “You think that’s a reward?”

His face darkened. “I’ve already compromised.”

“I told you. I’m not marrying you.”

Ryan sneered. “Then none of us will marry you.”

“Good.”

A hospital administrator came in. “Miss Hayes is crying. She says she’ll withdraw from the foundation if this becomes a scandal.”

Ethan turned to leave. Ryan followed.

Julian looked at me. “Don’t take this too far.”

“You already did.”

Minutes later, Ryan came back and grabbed my uninjured wrist. “Sign it.”

“Let go.”

Ethan stood at the door. “Stop making a scene. Help Jenny first.”

The administrator hesitated. “Miss Alara has not agreed.”

Julian said, “This is a Whitmore hospital. I’ll handle it.”

I looked at them. “You’ll regret this.”

Ethan did not look back. “Get it done.”

Ryan pressed the pen into my hand. When I tried to pull away, pain tore through my burned arm.

By the time the statement was taken from me, my signature was barely legible.

They went to Jenny. Ethan stayed beside her. Ryan comforted her. Julian handed the signed paper to the administrator.

The nurse whispered, “Miss Alara looks pale.”

Ethan said, “She can handle it.”

He was wrong. I blacked out.

When I woke again, Mason was beside my bed.

“What happened?”

I looked at him. If I told the truth, his sons would break his heart.

So I said, “An accident.”

Mason did not believe me. But he did not push.

Lucas arrived soon after. Noah’s assistant.

He handed me a document and a gray metal box. “Mr. Noah asked me to bring these.”

The document was an engagement confirmation. Noah had already signed it.

Inside the box was a second silver Whitmore board pin.

Lucas said, “Mr. Noah heard what happened. The first badge was taken from you. This one will be registered under his seat.”

“No one else can use it.”

I held the pin. It was not romantic. It was better. It was respect.

Lucas continued, “Mr. Noah has replaced your medical team and filed a counterstatement. No one can access your records or use that signed paper without review.”

For the first time that day, someone cared what I wanted.

“Thank him for me.”

“He also said he will attend the ceremony in three days.”

“Tell him I’ll be there.”

After Lucas left, Mason asked, “You’re sure?”

“Yes.”

“In three days, the succession ceremony begins. All directors and relatives will attend.”

“I’ll announce Noah then.”

Mason was silent. Then he nodded.

Three days later, the Whitmore succession ceremony began.

It was held in the top-floor boardroom of Whitmore Group.

Directors, relatives, and lawyers filled the room.

Everyone knew I had to name my fiancé today.

“She’ll choose Ethan.”

“Maybe Julian.”

“Ryan still has a chance.”

No one mentioned Noah.

I stood outside the boardroom and pinned Noah’s silver pin to my clothes.

Ethan, Julian, and Ryan were already inside. Jenny sat beside Ethan, her wrist wrapped in gauze.

The lawyer stood. “Miss Alara, please take your seat.”

After the succession transfer was completed, Whitmore Group issued its official announcement.Noah Whitmore had become the company’s successor. My engagement to him had taken effect at the same time.Ten minutes after the announcement went out, the foundation revoked Jenny Hayes’s candidacy, and Whitmore Legal sent her a formal notice. Forged complaints, account theft, and manipulation of a hospital statement were listed one by one.I read the announcement without much reaction.Everything had finally settled, but I did not feel triumphant.Noah sat across the conference table and closed his file. “Are you tired?”“A little.”“Then let’s go.”He did not ask whether I was happy or whether revenge felt good. That made it easier to breathe. When we left the conference room, an argument was breaking out in the lobby.Jenny was being stopped by security. Her face was pale, her eyes red from crying. Ethan, Julian, and Ryan were there too.The moment she saw them, she reached for the last thi

Ethan arrived at the apartment building that night, but security stopped him at the entrance.“Sorry. You do not have an appointment.”Ethan lowered his voice. “Tell Alara I need to see her.”Ryan and Julian arrived soon after.Ryan stepped forward. “This is a Whitmore family matter. Move.”Security did not move. “Miss Alara does not wish to see anyone.”Ethan’s face darkened. “Did she say that herself?”Lucas came out of the elevator. “Yes. Miss Alara said she does not want to see you.”Ethan’s fingers tightened around the returned racing badge.Ryan scoffed. “So now she won’t even hear us out?”“She is not afraid to hear you,” Lucas said. “She simply does not want to.”Julian did not argue. He only looked at the building’s security layout, then turned away.Ryan frowned. “Where are you going?”Julian said, “She refuses to see us here. That doesn’t mean there is no way to see her.”The next morning, Noah went to Whitmore Group headquarters for the succession transfer process. It was a

The recording kept playing after Ethan’s fist hit the table.Jenny’s voice came through again.“Alara is easy to handle. The more she explains, the more jealous she looks.”The other woman laughed. “And the three young masters?”“Even easier,” Jenny said. “Ethan gets angry whenever he hears she bullied me. Ryan is impulsive. A few words and he follows where I lead. Julian is harder, but he trusts his own judgment too much. As long as I make the evidence look real, he fills in the rest himself.”The audio ended. No one in the living room spoke.Ryan walked out first.Ethan was faster.Julian closed the laptop, took the hard drive, and followed them.Jenny was still staying in a guest room at the estate. When they entered, she was sitting on the sofa with her wrist wrapped and the foundation’s investigation notice on the table. The moment she saw them, her eyes reddened.“Ethan, you’re back. I really don’t know why the foundation suddenly wants to investigate me. Did Alara say something

Mason did not let them come after me.He ordered the housekeeper to close the living room door and threw a folder onto the table.“Read this before you decide whether you have the right to see her.”Ethan frowned. “Father, finding Alara is what matters now.”“She is not an object you can retrieve whenever you want.” Mason looked at him. “Read.”Julian picked up the folder first. The first page was Ethan’s medical record from his crash three years ago. After the accident, Ethan had been rushed into emergency care, and the public only knew that his team had controlled the news in time. The file showed something different. The person who first contacted the private doctor, arranged the blood supply, and kept the media quiet was me.Ethan stared at the line, his face stiff.Ryan glanced at it and said, “She lived in the house. Helping a little is normal.”Mason’s eyes turned cold. “So normal that none of you ever thanked her?”Ryan said nothing.Julian turned to the next page and stopped.

The boardroom fell silent after the lawyer finished reading.Mason signed the final page and pushed it toward the legal team. “Record it.”The senior lawyer nodded. “The succession decision is effective immediately.”A few directors exchanged glances. Someone whispered Noah’s name. No one had expected the son they had written off to become the official successor to Whitmore Group.I looked at the empty doorway where Ethan, Julian, and Ryan had left with Jenny. They had been certain I would cancel the announcement without them there. Instead, they were absent when my choice became final.Lucas arrived before the meeting ended and stopped beside me. “Miss Alara, Mr. Noah asked me to escort you after the ceremony.”“Where is he?”“Completing the transfer documents. He said you do not need to wait here.”Mason looked at me. “Go. I’ll handle the rest.”I followed Lucas out while the lawyers collected signatures behind us. By the time Ethan learned what had happened, the company announcement

The lawyer was about to read the succession terms when someone hurried into the boardroom.“Miss Hayes has been summoned by the foundation board.”Ethan stood first. Ryan was already heading for the door. Julian got up too.I stayed seated.Soon, Jenny was brought inside. Her eyes were red, and the stolen badge still hung at her collar. She leaned against Ethan. “I’m fine. Please don’t blame Miss Alara.”The boardroom went silent. Everyone looked at me.Mason’s voice sank. “What does that mean?”Jenny bit her lip. “The foundation received a complaint about me this morning. It included the hospital incident report and a counterstatement.”She glanced at me, then lowered her head. “Maybe it was a misunderstanding.”Ryan turned to me. “You again?”“I sent nothing.”Ethan sneered. “You always say that.”Julian checked his phone. “The complaint came from an internal Whitmore address.”He looked at me. “Convenient.”I smiled faintly. “So now every Whitmore email is mine?”Jenny tugged Ethan’
