Chapter 29

Damien's POV

The first rays of dawn barely touched the horizon when I stepped out of the packhouse, my senses already sharpened for the day ahead. The air was thick with anticipation, every warrior in the camp moving with purpose. Word of Alina’s victory against the rogue champion had spread like wildfire, but it had done little to ease the weight pressing down on my chest.

She had fought well—ferociously, even. Yet, beneath the triumph, I saw the shadow of something else. A force inside her that she barely understood. A power that surged unpredictably, as if waiting for the right moment to consume her.

I found her standing near the training grounds, watching the sparring warriors with an intensity that told me she wasn’t seeing them at all. Her mind was elsewhere. Caught between the battle she had won and the prophecy that still loomed over her.

“Alina.” I called her name gently, stepping beside her.

She turned, and for a moment, the storm in her silver eyes flic

Chapter 90Damien's POVThe camp was restless under the cloak of night, every flicker of firelight casting long shadows across hardened faces and weary bodies. I moved silently among the pack, feeling the pulse of their anxiety and anticipation. They trusted me to lead them through darkness, but the truth weighed heavily—this mission wasn’t just a test of strength; it was a gamble with our very souls.I found Nora sharpening her blades near the edge of the clearing. Her hands were steady, but the tension in her jaw betrayed the storm beneath her calm exterior. “You’re awake late,” I said quietly. She glanced up, her eyes sharp. “Can’t sleep. Too many things swirling in my head.”“I know the feeling,” I admitted. “This Shadow Warden... it’s unlike any enemy we’ve faced before. But we can’t let fear paralyze us.”Nora nodded. “We’re all scared, Damien. But we have to be smarter, faster. We can’t afford mistakes.”Her words echoed what I already knew. The ritual Freya uncovered was dange

Chapter 89Alina's POVThe aftermath of the battle left an eerie silence that settled over the forest like a heavy shroud. The air still hummed faintly with residual magic, and the scent of blood and ash lingered, mixing with the damp earth beneath my feet. I leaned heavily against Damien as we made our slow way back to camp, every muscle aching from the fight, every breath ragged and raw.Behind us, the pack moved cautiously, wary of any hidden traps or lingering enemies, but the oppressive weight in my chest told me the real war was just beginning. We reached the heart of our territory, where the remaining pack members were tending to the wounded and reinforcing the wards around the compound. Tobias was barking orders, his usual calm replaced by an urgent intensity, while Freya and Nora moved swiftly, their hands glowing with healing light and protective enchantments. The sight should have been reassuring, but instead it deepened my unease. Our pack was strong, but the enemy had sho

Chapter 88Damien's POVThe cavern trembled beneath the weight of the conflict as the shadows writhed and twisted around us, the dark presence cloaked in ancient power pressing forward like a storm. Every breath I took was thick with the scent of smoke and blood, my muscles burning with exhaustion, but the fire in my veins—fueled by the bond I shared with Alina—kept me moving forward. Her strength matched mine, unwavering and fierce, a beacon in the chaos that threatened to swallow us whole. The enemy had underestimated us, and now they would pay for it.The dark figure before us moved with unnatural speed, every strike carrying the force of centuries of dark magic. I blocked a crushing blow, the impact rattling my bones, and countered with a slash that drove the shadowy form back, if only for a moment. Alina was at my side instantly, her claws flashing as she tore through the enemy’s defenses. Together, we were a storm, relentless and brutal.“You’re stronger than I thought,” the cre

Chapter 87Alina's POVThe moon hung low and full above us, its cold light filtering through the dense canopy as we moved quietly through the thick forest toward the enemy’s last known location. Every step felt weighted with purpose and danger, the silence between us almost tangible as the strike team advanced. Tobias led the way with practiced ease, his senses stretched beyond human limits, while Liam and Nora covered our flanks. I kept close to Damien, my heart pounding not just from the looming fight, but from the ever-present tension between us—our bond a tether and a shield, both fragile and unbreakable.“This feels too quiet,” Liam muttered, his eyes darting through the shadows. “Like they’re waiting for us.”“They know we’re coming,” Tobias said grimly. “They want us exposed, divided.”I swallowed the knot tightening in my stomach. “Then we don’t give them what they want. We stick together. We watch each other’s backs.”Damien’s hand brushed mine, a silent promise. “No matter

Chapter 86Damien’s POVThe air was heavy with tension as the council gathered in the great hall, the flickering torches casting long shadows across the ancient stone walls.Alina sat at my side, her eyes sharp and unyielding as she listened to the reports flooding in from our scouts and sentries. Around us, the pack’s leaders—betas, elders, and the Seer—exchanged grave glances, the weight of the attack pressing down on every word spoken. The wounds outside the village still bled in our minds, and none of us could ignore the creeping dread that the enemy’s next move would come fast and brutal.Liam, one of my trusted betas, broke the uneasy silence. “The dark sigils we found on the bodies… they’re not just curses. They’re a form of control. Whoever marked our scouts is trying to bind their spirits, to turn them against us from beyond death.”Nora, the Seer’s apprentice, shook her head. “It’s worse. I traced the symbols back to an ancient warlock clan—the Nocturnes. They’ve been extinc

Damien’s jaw clenched, his stance shifting as if he were preparing to launch into battle without a second thought. I stood beside them, my heart pounding in sync with the crackling fire, and the truth weighed on us all—this was no random attack. This was a message. A declaration of war.The first body lay twisted near th
