The wedding ended not quite on a good note as Alex had refused to say a word to me after he had successfully sent his ex-fiancée away, as well as Ethan.

As the driver drove along the wet street, I couldn’t help but think about my life.

This wasn’t the kind of wedding I had pictured for myself while growing up. But what am I to do when my father’s well-being is tied to it?

All I know is that tomorrow my dad must be flown out of this country for his surgery. I cannot afford to lose him.

“What’s on your mind?” Alexander broke the silence, his hand reaching out to me as soon as the driver pulled over.

At first, I couldn’t believe my eyes. His house was not just filled with flowers and fountains, but at every edge of the house, there were guards and maids ready to receive us.

In one word, this place looks like a palace. And I feel more like a queen in it.
