Sable POV

Casual sex? Friends with benefits? He shares the same woman with his warriors? My mate is a cad. He didn’t even know I wasn’t being attended to or hadn’t eaten because he couldn’t be bothered to check in with the doctor. He doesn’t even realize I didn’t have any clean clothes. Just my warrior gear, which is heavy and uncomfortable considering I’m injured.

I’m not a pack member. I can’t ask for anything here. However, I am HIS mate. You would think he would be concerned about my basic necessities. I’m not needy, by any means, but I literally have nothing and no say in this pack. Where do I even get the things, I need here? He was ready to leave with me in an undressed state. Like he is unbothered that the pack will see me with only a thin hospital gown on.

He doesn’t care about the pack respecting me? Doesn’t he care about my virtue? He keeps saying he wants to talk to me later but then doesn’t get to the point. He doesn’t really ask me much about myself either. Other th

  • The Jilted Alpha   Chapter 31: Our first meal

Sable POV When the tether from Dark Flame broke and Winter Moon snapped into place, I didn’t expect to feel the onslaught of feelings from Jaxon. There is interest and intrigue. He’s curious about me. I guess that can be resolved by spending time together, provided he doesn’t forget I exist. There is fear of the mate bond too, though. I sense he doesn’t want the mate bond. Not because he isn’t interested, but because he’s afraid I’ll hurt him. That’s a strange reaction for one mate to have towards another mate. He brushed off my question too. He said it was normal for anyone. I didn’t feel that way though. I don’t think other people I’ve witnessed have acted that way either. I feel like there is something going on, but I don’t know if he will tell me about it either. I was glad that lunch came. I was getting hungry, not having ate since earlier in the morning. If Nia and I hadn’t fallen asleep by the lake, we would have been long gone by now. I guess it’s good we took that nap.

  • The Jilted Alpha   Chapter 30: Jealous

Jaxon POV When Darius said Sable was his mate, I thought she lied. Then something inside of me became exceedingly possessive and angry at the idea that Sable and Darius were mates. ‘It’s called jealously, stupid.’ Drax said sarcastically. ‘Admit you want her to be your mate. Hell, admit you are falling for her, already.’ ‘I’m not jealous. I’m just possessive over what’s mine. That’s all.’ I say. I know it’s a weak argument, but I refuse to admit I am jealous. ‘As if I can’t hear your subconscious. Of course you are jealous. You know our mate is special and she is ours. The Moon Goddess gave her to us. Stop being stubborn.’ Drax insists. ‘I’m closing you out.’ I say, pushing him down and ignoring him. At least temporarily. Man, he likes to rub it in my face when he gloats. I was glad that not only did she claim me openly, but Crane, apparently, also called him out. It wasn’t until Alpha Darius back tracked that I started calming down. “Okay, so in two days we will go get y

  • The Jilted Alpha   Chapter 29: Darius’ shock

Darius POV It’s been a week. A fucking week since I lost my Sable. I know she wasn’t actually mine, but I had hopes to take her on as a chosen mate. She was right though, it was a suicide mission and, in my rage, I didn’t think things through. Then that fucker Jaxon stabbed my mate with a silver knife. I should have listened to her. I shouldn’t have told her to come. I should have done so many things differently. No one is ever going to match her beauty, wit, intelligence, laugh, scowls, and every other characteristic I have observed and admired since she walked into my life as a warrior. Now she is gone and it’s as much my fault as it is Jaxon’s. I will avenge her though. I will avenge my Sable. Just then, my phone rings, and the ID is none other than Jaxon. Fury rises in me and I answer the phone. “You fucking bastard! You killed my mate!” I snarl at him through the phone, “I will avenge her death, make no mistake, I’m coming for you Jaxon.” There is silence on the other end.

  • The Jilted Alpha   Chapter 28: Crane and Darius

Jaxon POV I’m sitting at my desk looking at her. She really is beautiful. Her eyes especially. They look like honey when the light touches them at the right angle. When I kissed her in the woods, I saw her eyes up close. She looked shocked, but that honey color was there and green is there but more of a secondary color to the honey. It gives her an exotic look and it’s captivating. Her eyes light up when I mention calling Crane and Darius. I’m rewarded with a soft smile. I’m not sure what it is, but some of the tightness in my chest dissolves when I see that smile. Again, she is making me feel foreign things in my chest that I can’t describe. She sits innocently on the other side of my desk while I call Crane first. I will explain the situation to him and then ask to three-way call, so we can have some diplomacy when we call Alpha Darius. As the phone rings, I take note that Sable is sitting nervously, fidgeting with her hands. This woman just killed rogues in the woods and now she

  • The Jilted Alpha   Chapter 27: Touring the pack house

Sable POV That was my very first kiss. My brain stopped functioning , when he kissed me. I don’t have any reference point to compare it too, but I can’t imagine that it gets any better than Jaxon’s kiss. I’m still reeling that he kissed me. It was unprompted and it was in a romantic setting in the forest. I’m not a girlie girl, but I felt like I could have melted in his arms. We walk back hand in hand and I am trying not to show how giddy I am that he is actually acting like a mate. “You were in impressive back there.” He says to me. My cheeks redden. Goddess, get a grip Sable. “Thanks.” I say and I sound shy. “Just out of curiosity, why did you want to become a warrior?” He asked me. “I’ve always been quick and strong. It seemed like the most fitting path for me.” “Were your parents fighters?” “No. My mother was a teacher and my father worked as a mechanic. He used to fix the farm equipment at Dark Flame.” “I see. Do you mind me asking what happened to them?” “My mom p

  • The Jilted Alpha   Chapter 26: Deliveries

Jaxon POV The last rogue is still alive but withering in pain. Sable pulls shift and I sucked in a breath. Holy Moon Goddess. She is perfect. Every part of her body is sculpted to perfection. Before I can get carried away with my thoughts, she moves past me and lifts the rouge up and slams him against a tree. Okay, I’m starting to see why she is a lead warrior. “Why did you want me, specifically? Who sent you?” The rogue starts laughing, “You’re special, Sable. Someone is very interested in adding you to their collection.” I snarl at hearing this asshole. “I will make your death painful, unless you give me a name.” Sable says, looking at the rogue with an eerie calm. “Do your worst, bitch.” He laughs again. She stays there staring at him and then he starts to choke and gasp for air. I look at Sable and she isn’t breaking eye contact with this guy. “A name.” she says once again. He’s shaking his head, “I…I…I don..don…know!” “Then you are of no use to me.” Sable says.
