Chapter 17
POV: Prince Raven Pierce
He was in the study room of the castle when Arlan suddenly entered the room. His face was dreadful and wearily plopped down on the couch just across from where he was sitting.
He mentally shook his head. He knew something was up with the King, but he still asked it, though. He was still his brother – the only family he had.
“So, how was he?” A hint of worry crossed his voice.
Arlan shook his head and looked at him with gloomy and despairing eyes.
They both heaved a deep sigh – one look, and they already knew that the King was still on the verge of his fury.
“All of his subordinates were terrified to be near him.” Arlan restlessly said.
“How did this happen? And when?” Prince Raven raised his brow and curiously asked.
“I don’t really know what happened to him. After he went to the infirmary, he just turned out to be in this maddening state.” Arlan disappointedly answered.

Chapter 18 POV: Lamina Darkwood “Luna Lamina, Elder Courdamus is here.” The guard outside the study room announced. From the paper she was looking at, her gaze moved towards the closed door. “Let him in,” she coldly answered and instantly put the papers inside her table’s drawer. The door banged open, and an old man entered. He was Elder Courdamus, one of the members of the Were Elders Council and the eldest wolf in their pack. Lamina evilly smiled at him as she removed her reading eyeglass and placed it on the table. “Finally, you’re here. Sit down.” It was supposed-to be a courteous act, but it came out as an order instead. The old man sat on the couch in front of her and crossed his legs. His expression was stoic yet cunning – a typical look of Elder Courdamus. “So, do you have any news for me?” Lamina eagerly asked as she intertwined her hands together and placed her chin on top of it. He lit
Chapter 19 POV: King Hades Pierce “Your Majesty, the competition will start today.” Arlan seriously informed him as he gave the list of the packs, the Were Council, Prince Raven, and his other subordinates and other information of the said competition. He was done letting his raging emotions at the Southern Side – where hundreds of rogue bodies were already rotting in hell. He is now calmer and more composed. He wouldn’t join the screening process, for he didn’t want to waste his time on such rubbish things – well, he planned to attend… more important… things other than these. He could imagine his wolf being disappointed at him as he felt it become restless and wanted to see and sniff more metallic blood – again. He wanted to sigh in frustration – for he was covered with so much blood a few days ago – but he wouldn’t do that, not in front of his second in command, who was still blindly trying to put himself in his plans. Arlan
Chapter 20 POV: Shahara The Vikesh family were in the receiving area of the Lunar Pack Mansion, waiting for Elder Urticius, the assigned Were Elders’ Council Member who would assess Tamara. He was an elder wolf from the Northern Side and part of the Midnight Pack – known for their firm sense of unity and equality. She was fidgeting her fingers because of anxiety. Well, all of them – her both parents who were also present in the room – were laced with concerned expressions. Her mother was drinking her glass of water as if she was too thirsty in every passing minute while her father was checking his leather wristwatch from time to time. They were all worried because every one of them had no clue about whichever the assessment would become. Tamara wasn’t that knowledgeable about the history nor the other information about the Lunar Pack. Their only consolation was Elder Urticius wasn’t a person who might probably pull tricks on their pack
Chapter 21 POV: Leah Darkwood “This is just the beginning, Leah. Don’t let your guards down. Do you understand?” Her mother spoke as she drank her champagne while they traveled to the King’s castle. All of them were present inside their black Limousine car. Her father was just silently sitting beside her mother and smoking. While Aeron was just looking intently at them – most especially at her. She was excited for the announcement day to see who would be chosen in the top ten for the next Regina. For she already knew that she was part of it – well, she made it sure, as well as her mother, who already spoke to Elder Courdamus. They were discreet to the other candidates who passed the screening process, but she shrugged it all off. She will surely win in the end – no matter what. “Of course, Mom. You know, I wouldn’t lose – not to anyone. Most especially, not to this one.” She assuredly answered. “Trust, her, Lamina. She could do
Chapter 22POV: Tamara DavisAfter announcing the top ten candidates, Arlan – who was also the King’s second in command – asked them to go to the study room of the palace. They were accompanied by a man named Dillion – whom she recognized as the man in the prison cell – who had bailed for Kage – and who was with Shimuel.Tamara moved her gaze towards the entire room. She was currently sitting on one of the dark red single-sitter cabriole couches. Well, every one of them sat on each of the single couch. They were waiting for the Were Elder Council for whatever reason they had – at that very moment that they were also announced as the top ten chosen candidates.Dillion was eyeing them from the corner – standing beside the closed huge wooden door. Although Tamara was fond of reading, she couldn’t appreciate the sanctuary of books placed in an asymmetrical bookshelf to every corner of the room. Her mind wa
Chapter 23POV: Tamara DavisEvery minute that passed created an intensifying tension and anxiety for everyone in the room. Only Dillion was in the room together with the candidates.Tamara’s fingers were fidgeting with too much nervousness.Although, her mother taught her about the poem – she must not feel comfortable, for what if it was just her own interpretation of the poem? What if it wasn’t the exact answer that they were looking for? What if she failed this round?Everyone has their own meaning to every literature that depends on their point of view.A loud creak of the open door resounded in the entire room, which made every one’s gaze move towards it.Tamara’s heartbeat faster as she saw the King, the Were Elders’ Council, and Arlan enter the study room. Her hands turned cold as she clenched them firmly, and then unclenched them loosely – again and again to ease her a
Chapter 24POV: Shahara VikeshShe was nervously biting her lips and pacing back in forth to the receiving room where they were asked to stay while waiting for Tamara, who was asked to the study room after the announcement of her – being part of the top ten for the competition for the next Regina. She was totally nervous and astounded.Tamara was really in the top ten!Top ten!Gosh! She was hyperventilating. She has already passed the screening, and the real competition will begin. She was so happy as well as worried about her.She heaved a deep sigh. She needed to pass.Well, she must be.She was destined to be.She let out another deep sigh as she moved to the other side of the room – for the nth time.“Will you stop fidgeting, dear? It was quiet distracting. I wouldn’t want you both to transform into your wolf form, right here, right now.” Her father, Alpha Lorenzo,
Chapter 25 POV: Aeron Darkwood Somewhere in the middle of the dark woods. A loud whimper echoed in the middle of the dark forest, followed by a painful growl – making the birds fly away from their own resting nests and breaking the deafening silence of the night. Dark red blood splattered the ground and painted the wild grass and weeds. The entire place was terrifying and perilous at just one glance. A man with no left arm was slowly breathing and sniveling due to the agony he felt. He already knew that he would face his tragic end today. He knew he wouldn’t have another chance at proving his worth and loyalty. He would face his disastrous demise without any sign and confidence. One of the people staring at him – younger than him – slowly shook his head with too much disappointment. It pained him more – for he served this family for almost two decades of his life. A young lady just raised her brow while looking
